Do stun lancers ignore suppression overwatch or did I just get fucked over by a bug?
I'm getting this problem too.
So is the game generally recommended for a purchase right now?
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
Or is a wait and buy
There's definitely going to be a patch or two, if that's what you're wondering.
basically they are like the combine Civil Protection officers.

wait a minute...
A large unknown force form a Cross universe/dimensional empire..
strange psychic like powers...
Building their armies using the best parts from hundreds of different races or just downright forcing them to fight..
mixing human and alien DNA to form a better human soldier..
oh my god
I thought:

He preordered his armor and got the limited edition Doritos set
Yeah ok XCOM.
Half of my force is down because of stun lancers and vipers, so I send them back to Resistance HQ to recuperate. OH WAIT, DARK EVENT TIME! Here's two missions that you can't ignore, because if you do, you'll get both penalties!
One is moderate, awards an Engineer. One is easy, awards supplies. I need supplies more, Easy it is.
Load in. Nice little city corner map. The van is a street away. Just a couple of civilians in the parking lot and a scanner on the other side of the building. No biggie.
lol j/k here's another 4 civilians who just revealed all your men. oh, and here's two turrets on top of that first building. oh, and here's a pod of three advent soldiers! oh also you have 8 turns to reach the van
2 turns later, I'm barely closer to the van but I've taken down the two turrets and one advent guy. Whoopity-fucking-doo here's a reinforcement wave and it includes a stun lancer and officer! Art thou entertained yet, Taggart?
another 2 turns later, one pod down and stun lancer down. engineer can see the va- ANOTHER POD OF ADVENT WITH AN OFFICER. Ranger with skulljack is utterly fucked by this new pod, and my two rookies panick and go fuck off somewhere. Well, whatever.
My specialist reaches the package with a turn to spare. He takes the package, he retreats to a safe place, and he kills the officer. Now there's just four advent soldiers left.
Wait, no there isn't. Now there's another pod from behind the van that has a viper and two soldiers, one of my rookies just got killed, and now my specialist is bound.
And now my rookie misses his shot. And dies.
"Easy".

Would Xcom 2 being a Half Life 3 reveal be the most genius plot device or the worst plot device ever?

What a ridiculous position.

Don't forget that you're playing as a character who's been in stasis for over 20 years and when you come back, people remark that you look exactly the same as before
I really wish you could have [sp]captured ADVENT guys and turned them to your side.[/sp]
And I hope that a mod is made soon that removed timers, extends them or makes it so you get never ending reinforcements of Ayys rather than a timer forcing you to leave.
Well, there are already mods for this, as people were crying so hard some modders dropped what they were doing to cater to crybabies:

Ultimate easy mode - disables timers

war is hell.
Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but man the facility missions got infinitely easier once I discovered that destroying the ground under roof-mounted turrets instantly destroys them
Yet another reason for me to always have at least two grenadiers
I have no idea what caused it, but I'm currently experiencing the best glitch.
I had a unit on the top left square of the gas station carport here [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/550931938594721646/E4E10BB3C501B3F6C8AA4DED8482483CA0A6C48D/[/t] While it was on fire. He went into a laying down position as the fire went out, and now he can no longer walk.
He can still move, he just teleports to wherever I have him move each turn, it's amazing
What the hell man, one of my rookies panicked and threw a grenade into a group of civilians
I thought we were the good guys ;_;]
I had a dude panic and throw a plasma grenade into my squad, pretty much wiped me after all the cover was gone with aliens everywhere
I had to take a bit of a break after that
Fuuuuuck
I just had a really good soldier die. He was TWO SQUARES outside of the evac zone right as enemy reinforcements arrived. The plan was they'd drop down, and before their turn he'd just step into the zone and evac. No problem. But he was poisoned. And he took damage from it and panicked. And ran back towards the reinforcements at the last moment.
Anyone had any luck replacing classes in the modding tools yet? I've made a tweak that I think people will enjoy, but the game is crashing when I try to launch with the mod enabled, and all I've done is overwrite one class.
[editline]6th February 2016[/editline]
Class being code class, not soldier class.

he knew he wouldn't make it being poisoned and all
he gave his life so your team could escape...

At least the last thing he did in life was blow up an Avatar Facility ;~;7
Nothing scarier than having to do an important and difficult mission with your B-team since all your good troops are being babies in the infirmary.

Dude went down in a blaze of glory. He was a true hero.
Dude went down in a blaze of glory. He was a true hero.
I'll remember him that way, not for the fact that he died crying out "I WANT TO GO HOME" through choking gasps from the poison while being bludgeoned to death by two stun lancers.
So what are the easy "abduction" type missions in this game? My first blacksite showed up and a lot of me squaddies are recovering from wounds and I don't want to go in with 2 rookies
What's the best build order for your base? I'm really not sure what I should prioritize first.
Try at the very least to put Workshops in the middle column, so you can get a possible of four engineer gremlins for the price of two engineers.
If there's one thing I miss about living in the alien controlled cities,
it's those damn juicy advent burgers.
I loved XCOM but I ended up getting really attached to my soldiers and save-scummed so much. It ended up killing the game for me, cause I'd end up doing a mission really well, but then I'd lose a soldier I really liked, so I'd save-scum and do the mission again. I'd start to get fed up after a while, cause I'd inevitably be doing each mission twice to keep my soldiers safe.
I figured with the new game, I'll just bend over and take whatever happens like a true man, instead of reverting saves. Hopefully it'll keep the game refreshing as well, and I won't get annoyed at having to repeat missions over and over just so my fav soldier makes it.
I'm laughing at this screenshot I got after a skulljack bug

I like:
-the poor advent bastard and his impaled alien balls
-the fact that the soldier's nickname is Wolverine
-tygan in the top right like "ayyy what the fuck man that's not how it's meant to work"
Last three missions I've played thus far had the AI completely non-existent. ADVENT don't do anything, don't attack, don't move....just sit to be picked off one by one without consequence. What a lame glitch.

Goddamnit, I put my lab there.
I'm off to a pretty great start with my formally dressed XCOM troopers.
