Also if you guys haven't tried the Debug Camera in Debug mode, it's the shit. You can fly around the level with your 360 gamepad into whatever positions you like.
I was looking to buy this now instead of waiting years for it to be on sale, but the timer talk is really turning me off.
Is it really that awful? I absolutely hated any and all timers in EW.
I've never played an XCOM game before this one and I have no problem with the timed missions. Makes the game far more interesting.

If you absolutely don't like the timers at all, there's already a few mods that either make it easier or remove them completely. That said, if you're not all that sure yet, I'd wait a couple of weeks to maybe see if they patch things out or if the modding starts to get bigger.
In other news, the Dark Event that makes ADVENT better at detecting you, as I mentioned already, is hardly a joke.

Yeah have fun trying to do a good ambush on these fuckers. (Faceoff is so fucking good)
Also I noticed aliens flank way more in 2. But your line of sight is so small that if you don't kill them when you trigger the pod they flank and you're fucked. There's just no way to protect yourself. Aliens always get better positioning.
And while flanking makes sense in game it doesn't really irl.
And fuck beagle. His guide said blacksites restart the avatar timer but it took off a pip.
Hacked a sectopod, killed the other sectopod with it, got an achievement 👌

You can install a mod to turn all the timers off in Xcom 2.
It is a great game
I don't understand this game
I missed a 96% shot and hit a 14% shot
Sectopods are so fucking terrifying in this game.
so far i havent had much trouble with them considering i always kill them the first round so they cant do much but stand still and take beam weapons in the face

why dont you guys have jeff goldblum and will smith in your team?
I don't understand this game

Statistically you will hit about 14 out of every 100 14% shots, and you will miss about 4 out of every 100 96% shots. Given that you are likely taking 100s or 1000s of shots, it is statistically likely that such shots will occasionally have these results.
It's September and tygan didn't get to open up the [sp]avatar corpse yet[/sp] Am i hopelessly late ? should i start over ?
because i'm getting some really bullshit missions and i'm wondering if that has anything to do with it
It's not a 90% chance to hit, it's a 10% chance to fuck up.
I just fought my first andromedon AND my first sectopod in the same mission with my B team. Never trust difficulty ratings.

I gotta say, this is exactly what I expected a FABIO~ to look like. Nice work XCom. Today we begin to follow the story of Fabio, an ex-ADVENT underwear model turned resistance fighter.
(excuse the quality, playing on my awful laptop today)
Sectopods are so fucking terrifying in this game.
In terms of what they can do, yes.
but uhh, they look like chickens that are wearing painted cardboard boxes, not diggin the thin, rectangular look, Firaxis pls bring back ol' round and stumpy.

Yeah
Sectopods in EW had that whole menacing look with a huge freaking death laser mounted on their "faces", even when they stopped being scary after a few missions
Sectopods in X2 look like shit i did with lego back in my childhood
I've been out all weekend and I'm looking forward to getting back into it, but any tips on getting intel? Scanning at HQ gives tiny amounts, a million missions pop up, and all my troops have to wait like 20 days to heal because I switched the HQ bonus

I never have any shortage of intel. Just go to the scanning places that give intel (not the hq) or do missions that give intel or make your research a datapad thing.

Certain missions and sometimes the scanning events.
Missions from the Spokesman often give 100+ intel
all I have all the supply drops, which are nice, but cramming cash down my soldiers' throats won't turn them psychic

X1 sectopods didn't look intimidating at all IMO. They looked goofy :v:
Whereas the new ones, while not tremendously intimidating, still made me shit myself when it decided [sp]to extend to three stories tall[/sp].
I think this game is starting to give me PTSD, even though I'm savescumming like hell since this is my first playthrough.
I wish I could have a "ruler" tool so that I could easily measure distances and also check how far enemies can go.
I'm three months in, have magnetic weapons sans the cannon, am researching a plasma rifle, have just started making spider suits (up until now nobody has had armor) and have had a real tough time (on Commander difficulty).
I barely scraped by blowing up an Avatar facility that I had to radio-contact all of the way to egypt for.
Should I be attacking that mexico blacksite at some point? I have a feeling not doing it immediately is what has made me so behind on gear.
I can't decide if my favorite new alien is the Andromedon or the Gatekeeper.
They're both so damn cool.
This game is killing me through lack of information, not because I can't take good decision.
How can I make good tactical calls if the game requires me to be square-grid perfect yet only allows me to roughly eyeball what the enemies can probably do and where they can go.
Also, enemies being able to close the distance in one turn because I accidentally triggered a patrol with my last move making them take cover towards me, and THEN moving again on my flanks is such BS, especially the lancers.
It wouldn't be all so bad if there wasn't timers EVERYWHERE plus reinforcements.
God, Beagle. I need new strats, pump out those videos.

The Avatar project is 10 days out in my game and I need to make contact with two other regions. I have plated armor, mag weapons, a couple spider suits and one exo. Also a Psiop. How in the hell did you already get Plasma?

I don't know if I'll actually be getting plasma weapons, as the project was just titled "Plasma Rifle". I purchased a lot of the autopsies from the Black Market, which I estimate has saved me at least 2 weeks of research time.
I haven't researched Psionics yet, either.

If you're not planning on making contact with several regions or using the black market a lot, definitely. This dark event has made any and every concealed mission just pure hell, honestly. The worst part is, I scoffed this event off as "probably not all that bad".
Well fuck me
