Can someone explain cryssalids to me please On my turn I apparently triggered some burrowed cryssalids, so they get a free move + attack on whoever is in their insane range? AND they apply poison? Seems insane. I'd be down if they could do this on their turn but on MY turn? What's the strat then, overwatch everyone before moving up? You can't exactly play it that slow when the timer is going.
The pacing in this game is a bit odd, if there's one thing I'd like back from Long War it's the ability to create a diverse roster, I'd love to experiment with different soldier builds but time and enemy progression constrains that. Maybe spreading out the missions more and adding in more "easy" ones that give less rewards but are more of an opportunity for training?

I don't know if you guys noticed, but if you're ever in a mission inside the advent cities or sometimes the blacksites there are crates scattered around the place that contain shit you can steal.
how do i get the tier 3 grenade launcher cause i cant find any research for it. unless its one of those wacky projects where i have to hope for one considering i get new stuff all the time from the experimental choices
Last time I completed the skulljack plot mission everything went to shit fast, anyone else notice this as well or was it just me? I'm having a way better time just screwing around without doing the skulljack thing, gotta get my armor and weapons tech up first.

I'm starting to regret this whole "ironman first run" thing.

"THIS IS THE FINAL MISSION COMMANDER" my ass. Thanks for making my three best troops into mincemeat with some dumb stealth mission that wasn't actually the final mission. If you hit this point just send 3 useless troops. What the game meant was "This is the second to final mission you just cant do anything in between them."

I need new strats, pump out those videos.[/QUOTE] I find that having a ranger with phantom scouting ahead and keeping tabs on distant enemies works wonders, you'd think having a unit not actively fighting would put you at a disadvantage but the information you get out of it is invaluable You can also use them to tag enemies (or objectives!) for snipers using squadsight while the rest of the squad hangs back safely

I did every research available and didn't unlock it, also didn't find out how to unlock Hazmat suits either, sadly.
Anyone else feels like the tiny crosshair indicator on the enemy next to their health to tell if they'll be in sight is really poorly thought out? It only shows if they're on your screen, so I find myself fidgeting the camera to make sure there's no awkward geometry if I move a soldier there, but so often it's offscreen.
I had a map where there was an overpass in it, so I scrambled up there before a guard group passed by. My surprise when they literally fucking climbed up the pillar to check the top of the overpass.

Anyone know how to mod the boxes for the avatar program visuals? I have the ini edits down already but I can't figure out what to do to move the boxes on the ui around.
Yeah I think I'm done with this game until there's a balance patch. The avatar project is poorly explained as to how to negatively impact it. I ran it up until there was one notch left before doing the first black site since I thought that it would reset it. Instead it removes 2 pips. Now its complete and counting down 20 days. I'm in a made scramble to get the intel I need to make contact with other regions. But hey too bad instead here's events you need to go do. You have six turns to go grab this object that has 3 turrets, two floater things, 4 advent, and another pod walking around. Done with this game. I'd restart now that I know the mechanics a little better since the game didn't bother explaining them to me but I know I'm still going to encounter the bullshit on mission balance issues.

Had a good ops where the most under fire ally was a mimic beacon. Also I really like the weapon design in this game.

Stun lancers finally stopped being a problem. Like I had zero problems when the Avenger got assaulted. But then the missions after that got way more difficult (also turn limits). This was also the point where the campaign got fucked. I never had any issues with EU/EW. Like I lost soldiers and countries withdrew but I still felt like I could recover. Instead you get 2 pips.
There would be literally no threat in the game if advent progress went to 0 after every mission that set it back
