It has been brought to attention that I am down to two soldiers who aren't wounded. Both of whom are snipers and need to go on a mission. This is either going to be awesome or end horribly.
BTW EMP Grenades work fucking amazing against Codexes if you didn't know yet. Deals a lot of damage and guarantees a stun IE you can easily kill them without all the cloning trouble.
This thing is here to defend against network intrusions! Oh and they sometimes have to pull guard duty.
Yeah, it's a bit jarring to see a pod of transdimensional metabeings doing a patrol shift outside of a nightclub with prison cells.
So I just got this event So would this confirm that XCOM got its butt kicked during the base defense mission?
how bad is the UFO hunter? bad enough that I should take it over 1 avatar blip + 2 week structure build advance?
how bad is the UFO hunter? bad enough that I should take it over 1 avatar blip + 2 week structure build advance?
Not that bad, just try and keep some good soldiers on standby.
how bad is the UFO hunter? bad enough that I should take it over 1 avatar blip + 2 week structure build advance?
What tier are you at and do you have a defense matrix?
I was able to dodge the one ufo dark event I've gotten so far. Got randomly attacked by one later but the defense mission turned into a line of 9 of my men acting as a firing squad on incoming aliens.
I think I may need to get more recruits, the last 4 missions or so I've been operating at 2-3 operatives per mission, and naturally they get injured so this just keeps up the cycle.

Imagine if VIP's you rescued were actually faceless.
Imagine if VIP's you rescued were actually faceless.
Honestly I hope they incorporate the Faceless into more shit in the future. Kinda thought there'd be more to it than a "hidden" enemy in Retaliation missions and sometimes anywhere if the correct dark event happens. They're not even that hard to kill.
Yeah I'm pretty let down by how not intimidating Faceless are.
Faceless should start appearing in missions more as you progress, I'd have loved to see a sort of desperation on the part of ADVENT as you get harder and harder to ignore/cover up.
Wasn't the SDK supposed to come with UnrealEd? Did I miss something?
Wasn't the SDK supposed to come with UnrealEd? Did I miss something?
It won't start up if you haven't set up the game and SDK executables. There should be a quick setup document in the SDK's folder that tells you all this shit.
So i finally got Power Armor, plasma guns, psionics... Time to do the Blacksite mission! :hiddendowns:
It won't start up if you haven't set up the game and SDK executables. Gonna have to dig into this proper when I am finished with the game.
I just realized I've only seen 2 bersekers in my playthrough so far. I haven't seen them in ages. Do they just rarely appear on veteran?
I just realized I've only seen 2 bersekers in my playthrough so far. I haven't seen them in ages. Do they just rarely appear on veteran?
Oh shit Mutons and Berserkers have completely disappeared for me too, didn't even think about it before. I could do with less Gatekeeper, Andromedon and Codex spam and with just more "regular" troops, honestly. Seriously, after seeing my first Gatekeeper, there hasn't been a single fucking mission without at least two of them stupid floating spheres. Can't wait for some Long War-esque game changer mod
Well, beat 2, although I had to set it to easy 'cus the early game was so harsh. Honestly hated it for the first while during the difficulty spike but now I gotta say I really, really liked it. Ending felt alright, if a bit silly because of [sp]big ol laser beam fights between the commander and the etherals[/sp] but it was still a lot more satisfying than EU/EW's was. Plus the stinger's p.exciting. Looking forward for more mods to gimme stuff to do, already got one to disable the Avatar project meter so I can just expand X-COM and make a fighting force :v: also, i cant remember who made it, but thanks to whoever made the bandanna mod, i love it! Garbage bags also provide a cover bonus.
for me troops that get stunned by lancers just get back up themselves the next turn
That's stunned. Stun Lancers can inflict 3 status effects: Disoriented, Stunned and Unconscious. Disoriented is the same thing flashbangs do, unability to use skills and something else. Stunned makes you lose a turn or two. Unconscious makes them go down for the rest of the mission.

Operation Moon Stank
Guys help, I'm on the final mission and the last alien I need to kill has TELEPORTED OFF THE MAP, am I just fucked?
I always recommend vanilla first for any game.
Same here although I'm cheating because I don't even own the game yet and already I am subscribed to the Rifleman Class mod and the Submachine Guns mod (even though all the comments say they're useless compared to the Assault Rifle let alone modded guns). Rifleman Class because it bothered me that there was no generic 'General Infantry' style class, and Submachine Guns because it sounds cool and maybe by the time I get the game they'll be balanced.
i literally used the SMGs to bypass the magnetic weapon stage by using swords on tougher enemies. They are hardly useless till the sword is useless.
The lowered detection of SMGs is good for your scouts, making sure it's safe for you to push in a direction without activating more enemies.
