I went poking through the game's files and look at what I found.
Hey if any of you are having performace issues, like cutscene stuttering or audio lag or anything really, try this out http://steamcommunity.com/app/200510/discussions/0/846960628563773260/ It fixed all my problems. Now the only problems I have with the game are the actual bugs.
60 Real-time hours, 13 in-game months and so much pain, finally came to an end: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/307738199208274990/400E95CE5987E8C6DF9AF2E0514AF22C141D4946/[/t] And now onto mods.

Apparently there is a way to use the faces and hair of hero characters, including shen and tygan, in the customisation menu, without just entering their names. Ive seen screenshots but I can't find anyone actually saying how to do it though.

I'm salty because I told myself to screenshot it when I first saw it, but forgot to, but just got operation God Hand Also lost my first soldier in months ingame. He was only a corporal ranger, but he sacrificed his life dodging sectopod fire to blow up the EMP beacon from a UFO interception, while the rest of my squad contended with swarms upon swarms of mechs (and managed to get out with no losses besides) That ultimate-tier Specialist ability that heals EVERYONE, including panic, is a fucking godsend. Doubly so when you have two guys with it.
i can't bring myself to make a medic specialist over stuff like haywire protocol and combat protocol

Like for instance, what's the best order of reseach/base building? Are there certain combos of missions that are just not even worth attempting, as in you'll see a certain map layout and know it's just better to cut your losses? I feel like if I lose a mission on Commander I should just restart the campaign. What's the best way to progress through a map? How do you avoid triggering too many pods at once? Are there certain items/classes that I should abuse? Mimic beacons, flashbangs? Do you have any tips on subtle game mechanics that might be easy to miss/overlook? When should I overwatch instead of shooting? Does it have the same 0.7 aim penalty as in EU? What about reaction shots from supressive fire? When should I hunker down? What do I do if I need to move forward but there's only half cover everywhere? Do you know what triggers certain AI actions? Like, I know the muton will throw a grenade if you have 2 soldiers in a 3x3 grid. Do all the aliens have the same walk/dash distance? It's hard to tell when an alien will have enough moves to flank me. Do you have some rule of thumb that you remind yourself every mission because it's important and easy to forget? I feel like there are so many subtleties that are going over my head all of the time, it's frustrating. Share your wisdom.
i can't bring myself to make a medic specialist over stuff like haywire protocol and combat protocol
Funny, I can't bring myself to do anything but medic for the same reason.
i can't bring myself to make a medic specialist over stuff like haywire protocol and combat protocol
The guaranteed damage has saved my ass so many times.
i can't bring myself to make a medic specialist over stuff like haywire protocol and combat protocol
Especially with the on command free damage Combat Protocol gives. It saved one of my soldier's life who accidentally ended his turn in the LoS of a ADVENT turret and the specialist went "what turret?" and like magic, Marty's wife won't get a visit from Central with a pair of his boots and a folded flag then having to awkwardly explain that he died because "we forgot there was a turret behind that bus" Also making turrets reboot Windows ADVENT for free is nice too.
Funny, I can't bring myself to do anything but medic for the same reason.
the first time you get to hack a mec/sectopod and send him running into the enemy flanks raining death on everyone you won't even remember what medikits are for gotta give firaxis credit for balancing it better this time though. both healing and hacking are useful, instead of healing and goddamn smoke grenades like EU/EW
Really it just comes down to defensive or offensive playstyles.
experience so far also fuck vipers/stun lancers
also fuck vipers/stun lancers
stun lancers in a nutshell:
Really it just comes down to defensive or offensive playstyles.
Yea, I've got two colonel specialists, one with the offensive stuff and one with medic stuff, but both have the global heal because that thing is basically a guaranteed game-changer, especially if you've got more than one guy shitting himself
I'm addicted to the frustration of this game, though one thing that irritates me unreasonably is that the game auto-assigns my created characters to whatever class it feels like, rather than the class I chose for them in the character pool. Am I doing something wrong or is that just how the game rolls?
Running like fuck was my only recourse [sp] and holy shit it payed off, 2 codexes? fuck off[/sp]
The guaranteed damage has saved my ass so many times.
Final mission, my favourite medic was bleeding out with one turn left. My final turn was three shredderguns that I had been saving and combat protocol when it went right across the map with one HP left.
Yea, I've got two colonel specialists, one with the offensive stuff and one with medic stuff, but both have the global heal because that thing is basically a guaranteed game-changer, especially if you've got more than one guy shitting himself
i'm rolling with two hacker dudes not only they're getting their hack score really high (every hack attempt - including mecs/sectopods/turrets- have a chance of increasing 5 to your tech score) but the first one attempts to control it and if it fails the second one is the "oh shit" button that will zap it with Combat Protocol. either way i can disable/control a very dangerous enemy from basically the other side of the map, far away from any harm
And can I take this moment to suck the dick of shredderguns? They are so freaking good and in my next run I'm probably going to bumrush to exosuits. Their damage output is just insane and with enough of them you can clear a mission despite only having one charge each
And can I take this moment to suck the dick of shredderguns? They are so freaking good and in my next run I'm probably going to bumrush to exosuits.
I was expecting it to be a bit of a small cone, but nope. It fucking wipes half the screen :v:
I was expecting it to be a bit of a small cone, but nope. It fucking wipes half the screen :v:
Best part is that damage doesn't weaken with range. Not sure why even bother with the flamethrower. It gets blocked by cover and doesn't affect robots and shreds less armour. If they both do the same damage, panic is not enough of an incentive to choose it over the shredder
someone at firaxis really dislikes flamethrowers they were the subpar option for the mecs in EW too

When I first got it I though it'd be worse than rockets because it doesn't hit as wide of an area. Then I found out hit hits fucking everything in the cone. The shredstorm cannon you get for powered armour is best weapon in the game, with the blaster launcher being a close second.
I learned that Andromedons can spit acid. I also learned that this really hurts, especially when there are three units clumped up in what used to be a relatively safe formation.
someone at firaxis really dislikes flamethrowers they were the subpar option for the mecs in EW too
At least incendiary grenades are good, they grenades do good damage and the burning effect usually deals more damage than poison.
