got xcom 2 downloading at my house right now; it's time to add to the character pool. Can you add characters from the fp character pool into your campaign right from the get go?

You can, yes. Grab the .bin file from the thread here, and you'll want to put it in "My Documents/my games/XCOM2/XComGame/CharacterPool/Importable"
Then you just select Character Pool on the main menu, and the list will be there.
I'd recommend ironman normal mode instead of non-ironman harder difficulties. It's much more satisfying to actually properly beat the game on a lower difficulty than it is to bullshit your way through the harder difficulties.
I might have to do that for my second playthrough instead instead of commander difficulty. Out of curiosity I started a new campaign on commander. Its pretty much over 5 hours later because enemies will 100% hit you if you're out of cover or flanked (makes sense), and hit you 95% of the time when you're in mid cover (kind of annoying). Also on a guerilla ops my sniper (who had hit literally every shot prior), missed an important 80% shot and got killed. Then a rookie missed an 88% shot that would have allowed another guy to move up who instead almost got killed. Then that person missed a point blank 98% shot on a mech. Then a viper refused to miss while flashbanged. Normal or veteran, whichever is the second difficulty, actually feels more fair.

If you want to be sure to get them fp characters from the get go you'll probably have to edit some files/go download some mod, otherwise you'll probably get more random rookies than fp people.
Make your character then export him to his own character pool. Then pm CGnick who will add it to the file in the OP.
I've been looking into trying out one of the mods to open up armor customization, does anyone have a recommendation for a good one they've personally used?

Personally I use this one.

Expect your random rookies to look stupid af tho.
The soundtrack in this game is like warm buttery sweetness in my ears.
I can confirm that pressing CAPS will quick-load the loading scene. Seems to only work RTB tho, not when going to the mission
[sp]So I'm guessing that they retconned the weird crystal growth or whatever it was from the book? Didn't hear a peep about it once, and I'm on my second playthrough.[/sp]
is there a specific music track for failing a mission?

[sp]There is a random scansite that says something about crystals growing on plants, but that's all.[/sp]
The real question is why the other Resistance fighters never seem to use their guns etc. aside from STOPPING convoys (and not engaging them further) when some of the Haven maps shows extensive armories with tons of weapons and ammo.
This bothered me about the first game too. On some missions, you'd encounter Soldiers in full combat gear, without weapons. And they never leave the starting area or get attacked, they exist only to tell you "Hey the thing you want is just up ahead." Thanks guy, pretty sure I know where it is considering we chose to land here.
There were also often police cruisers sitting around but no cops in sight, and one of the terror missions takes place in a military base yet there is not a single soldier in sight, plenty of parked half-fried tanks though.

My game goes haywire when pressing it, switching in and out, showing the desktop. I mean, it does make it faster, but at the cost of my nerves.
In other news, my game has taken on a habit of binging on memory, eating all of it and crashing with no error during loading screens. Holy memory leaks this game's optimization is ass.
This has probably been mentioned before, but I really wish there were age and fat/muscle sliders for character creation.
It'd add to the whole resistance theme by not having all your recruits be brick shithouses. Plus, I can't stand having my Bernie Sanders looking like a beefy young man with early male pattern baldness. And my Donald Trump just looks too cool for a dark VIP.
Probably gotta be the advent soldiers if they count as aliens.
The overall design is great for that oppressive government feel.
(first mission spoiler)
[sp]They're partial alien, so I'd say it counts.[/sp] I just wish they were more common in places it made sense. Sometimes ADVENT Soldiers fail to crop up in urban centers where you'd expect them, especially if it's a convoy mission. Yet on the other hand sometimes you get a grounded UFO that's full of ADVENT Soldiers. I would have preferred it if you could predict whether you'd face more ADVENT or more Aliens depending on where you are going, like seeing an ADVENT Patrol Car would indicate ADVENT Troops nearby.
i hacked a sectopod to my team, which was fucking incredible to start with, and then i killed the last enemy with it, which ended the mission (which was a surprise because i didn't expect it to but i guess the sectopod was considered a friendly at that point) and meant i couldn't get a sectopod wreck
but now i just imagine my xcom team having a pet sectopod onboard

For the first few missions encountering one I never got an Andromedon corpse, since I mind controlled it every single time I saw one and there usually weren't more than 2 on a mission.
Stun lancers are the biggest cunts I've ever witnessed in a video game.
wow
started a mission in stealth, moved up to full cover
then a sectoid jumped off of a three story building directly to the left of my soldiers, spotted the squad, and crit-killed one of my soldiers instantly
outta fucken nowhere

Every time one runs from the fog, excitedly waving his long glowing stick of bitchslap and misses like an asshole, I become euphoric and literally grow a fedora.

Finally, I've been waiting for this option! I really missed it from the first game.

Donald Trump welcoming the aliens? That's a far out idea
So when do we get the helmet Firebrand uses.
