oh man I can imagine a rookie next to a veteran who gets anally molested by the aliens and then blows up and in that moment the rookie goes completely ham: panicking and shooting all over the place while frantically yelling
"aeiou."
fuck the soldier that I made my sister (into a mec too) got mind controlled and fucking critted my personal soldier that was made to be "me" with the melee upgrade and my body flew like 20ft
[sp]*reloads 2min old autosave[/sp]
this is only the beginning
NoireCOM with Beagle :v:
xcom 2 needs a mod that splits the two talant trees into separate classes
(shameless self-plug)
But either way, sending XCOM to different planets would a really interesting new direction.

wow okay, the abilities you get are really really good. So many of these abilities would just break the game if they were in Enemy Unknown.
So much of the press surrounding this game seems universally positive, and it's all given me the vibe that it's too good to be true. If there's going to be any kind of catch to XCOM 2, it's going to involve this.
The problem as it seems to me is that the enemies are really really tough and have really OP abilities, but your squad is also really really tough and also have really OP abilities, and the idea is that the two factors will balance each other out. And these are the issues I see with that, I think:
1. It reduces the value of new recruits; when the combat effectiveness of any given unit relies so heavily on their veterancy, players are even less incentivized than before to take their new blood out to gain experience.
2. It moves the tactical emphasis away from conventional infantry tactics and towards MOBA-style character toolset management, which Enemy Unknown was guilty of a little bit as well.
3. It makes the push and pull of combat less predictable; So many of XCOM's abilties revolve around dishing out raw firepower, and so many of the alien's abilities involve throwing wrenches into your plans with various kinds of stuns, debuffs, and surprise enemy appearances. This is how I imagine the typical XCOM 2 lategame battle playing out with the current rule set: You start your mission off effortless slaughtering waves of hapless ADVENT mooks, and then one of the aliens shows up and either you kill it quickly, in which case you never break a sweat the entire mission, or the alien lives long enough to use one of its abilities in a way that screws you so completely that you can't recover. This one isn't necessarily a negative--unpredictability is exciting and it fits the scrappy guerrilla theme--but it can make the outcomes of battles unpleasantly modal--either you have a boring time steamrolling the opposition or you have a harrowing and frustrating total party kill that leaves you feeling like the RNG screwed you.
But you could also hand a fresh recruit a pimped out super gun if you want.
Firaxis - No Beaglerush, you just can't stand out in the open like a silly man..

Sure would be neat if Earth is liberated part way through instead of at the end and the other part of the game is spent squashing alien resistance and taking the fight to them somehow or you're on their planet and you have to raid alien towns to get supplies
So, I got back to playing XCom match online in EW, and I am confused - since when did Soldiers have fucking 25 bars of HP with Alloy Armor?
Aww sweet, eight more days until XCO-

That's just a visual glitch, it happens sometimes, in reality they get like 13 HP I think. A lot of the times I get prices to flicker more points that they are, so it doesn't let me Ready up, having to remove the unit and re-add it.
Haven't the devs said that starting a rebellion is only the first step? I hope the game changes drastically once you reach that point, maybe something like what Cows Rule says could happen.
Firaxis have made sure to never show story cutscenes in the pre release material; so there's pretty big suspicion they have some crazy shit up their sleeve
XCOM 3
[sp]Humanity loses again and you play as the aliens fighting bigger aliens.[/sp]
A mod for a bigger fish scenario would actually be rather interesting imo.

A soldier spins up their minigun:
"here comes another chinese earthquake"
Starts shooting:
"ebrbrbrbrbrbrbrbbrbr"
WAIT NO that should be minigun sounds mod instead.
I can already see the less-serious mods coming:
"John Cena Sonic Grenade: I bet them Ayyys couldn't see this!"

I'll probably be making a mod that replaces the text for stuff like how much damge taken or over watch or panicking with funny text
really excited for the XCOM2 COOP multiplayer mod where you can control one of your friends soldiers in their game (which could be the soldier they made of you in their game)
apparently it'll be ready soon after launch too, so cool. I love what firaxis is doing with modding

How can they guarantee how fast it's gonna happen? They don't know exactly what kind of coding will be needed nor how to work the tools immediately.

I think firaxis worked with them directly like the long war so it was almost functional already; but don't quote me on that
Well if they've worked with Firaxis to get it ready then I'm cautiously hyped for it.
Hopefully the next Civ entry will also get crazy mod tools.

Whenever your soldiers miss a shot, the text should say something insulting to you or your soldiers.

So it's a glitch that happens in both the menus and gameplay (Because I legit had two Snipers fire off multiple shots at each other, slowly whittling away at each other, with 7 damage each)?

Jesus, that's been an idea I've had forever.
XCOM/Valkyria Chronicles, where each unit is controlled by an individual player rather than one man.
Though, Valkyria Chronicles 2 did it for its coop mode and it's not all it's cracked up to be.
[editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
Ahem, anyway, any bets if there's going to be Lightsabers as an endgame melee weapon?
[editline]27th January 2016[/editline]
...Silly me, they got revealed a week or two ago.

Oh jesus I got so excited for a Valkyria Chronicles 2 only to realize it's a PSP-exclusive damn
The coop thing reminds me a lot of Total War coop too, where the guy doing the actual fighting could give how many squads/platoons to their friend as they wanted. Of course me and my friend always gave each other the shittiest little squads just so the other guy wasn't 100% bored. It could be really neat to make them a character that they'd then play, exclusively.
