Aliens just have a sectopod and then build the UFO around it. Because you know. Ayys gotta lmao.
This game needs some serious patching. Getting real tired of the game breaking because of animations getting stuck.

I love how they always inadvertently trash the places they're supposed to patrol. I've had a few blacksite missions where they just kept trashing the walls of the compound they're supposed to protect.

This looks worse than when camera clips inside of people on pod activation. God this game has both great and shit animations.

I've seen people report on them killing the dark VIPs by exploding their cars.
Thought I was being smart by sending my best ranger in for the killshot on an Andromedon.
[sp]And now I'm out a ranger because nobody fucking told me their suits reanimate[/sp]
About "the Speaker",[sp] I can't believe there never was a mission to kill him, i would've loved a guerilla mission where you had to put a bullet between his eyes as he's doing one of his speeches. Maybe in combination with the radio-tower mission. And yeah, i'm aware such violence only gives ADVENT more fuel to paint XCOM as "Terrorists", but let's admit, it would be pretty cool. I wonder what happened to him after the end anyway, the fact he still speaks to you during the final mission does support the fact he survived the angry mob and got away.[/sp]
I fucking love punching xaviers with the mec suit and watching them fly through buildings and melt

[sp]I'm surprised that the re-animating suit isn't a chance thing. I think it'd be really effective if it was a 20% chance to re-animate, as it would make you re-think your tactics on the spot, after assuming it wont turn on again.[/sp]

[sp]Imagine if the battle with him was that he was an upgraded version of the thin man. Same abilities and everything.[/sp]
[sp]And ofcourse, an absurdly high crit rate.[/sp]

Speaking of The Speaker, I just realized he was voiced by Brandon Keener, AKA Garrus from Mass Effect.
If there's anyone that could talk me into trusting a regime of alien overlords...

Well now he has reach AND flexibility!
They could really use a skip animation and dialogue button. Yes I know those are aliens, I don't need the camera to show me the 5 to 15 second animation of being spotted
Also, got the best mission name.

It's kinda annoying, I really loved how how cinematic the story was, but it kinda got weak across the end. [sp]I expected that when the hijacked the signal, Bradford would give this awesome speech about what has actually been going on, what advent have been doing behind the scenes, and for humanity to rise up against them. Would have really nailed the idea that you have shattered their illusion.[/sp]

I feel there's something flowbreaking in general about the way events like a pod reveal, the shooting animation and the soldier dropping a one-liner upon the kill are strung together. The game seems to be really trying to not let you do several things at once, having 1-2 second transitions between every event while the camera is locked. I appreciate at least being able to switch to another soldier relatively quickly, but XCOM isn't running on Amigas nowadays and should have no problem letting me parallelize soldier actions.
I realised partially why I suck at this game. I've made a pseudo tier list of the enemies and a dumb belief that if my gear is a tier above it then I'm fine. It just got my best ranger killed as I thought "Exo armour beats Mutons". Fucking Counterattacks man.

[sp]I would've loved if the shown videos looked more like "found footage" than professional cinematic pans. Maybe add some Xcom operatives to point angrily at things with flashlights and open containers and stuff.[/sp]

Well when you actually get to do two things at once, the game immediately shits the bed. I lost count how many times I had to reload a save because someone got stuck on a perpetual animation because I had the gall to order my guy to shoot before aliens' body has hit the floor or something, or in between bugged pod activations, or pretty much anything.
Or on Avenger defence mission, I had to wait, no joke, 5 minutes because an ADVENT officer triggered an overwatch for four of my guys at once and for some reason the last two were taking their sweet-sweet time. The poor officer had already reached his intended destination, shot someone, all in slow motion, and my sniper was still preparing his rifle to shoot.
So what is everyone's favorite new alien?
I really really love the Andromedons.
Oh man I just got my first mission with that fucker and I certainly can't say he left a good first impression. I had just upgraded all my armor to predator or whatever it's called so I thought my soldiers were finally safe from getting 1-shot to death, at least for a while. But no, the andromedon starts dealing 10+ damage per shot and killing my guys behind full cover. Certainly didn't help that I got like 4 codexes on the same mission + a bunch more after they cloned. They kept shutting my weapons all the time AND I had a really low number of turns to get to the objective, needless to say it all went to shit really quickly.

Advent continues to make the Earth a better place for everyone - now even if someone breaks down your wall, your priso-house window will remain perfectly intact and in place!
Having a pulled ranger bladestorm a viper never once not caused him to glitch out, giving him no animations and causing every action he took an extra minute to register.
In XCOM even the bugs punish you.

thanks central for this great name
So, is this game worth it? Haven't played any XCOM games yet, only seen a play through of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
Wheeew boy you better play EU or you're in a world full of death. But yes it's worth it
to hell with gatekeepers

Play EU first, it's pretty great and it's cheap on steam right now. If you like that, you will like XCOM 2.
And do get the complete edition, enemy within has some great additions to the game.
to hell with gatekeepers
Just get a Magus rank Psi Op and dominate their minds 95% of the time.

Do not approach XCOM 2 without experiencing at least Enemy Unknown, although Enemy Within is even better. I also think it's better to do Enemy Unknown first, then Enemy Within and then XCOM2, but that's just me, because you get to know how game works in EU, in EW you get a whole bunch of new toys(and enemies) that make it even better, and then there's XCOM2
