I'm enjoying this game so much so far. Can't decide what to do about save/loading though. I'm not going to lie I pretty much save scummed a couple of times but I might force myself to one load per battle, I don't load to save guys ever though just to win the encounter. I'm also sort of afraid to bump up the difficulty but at the same time it does seem a bit easy at times. Don't want to get overwhelmed as commander though.

I started off my run fairly honorably, taking deaths like a champ, having a generally more intense experience. when my fighting men and women get too high-level I start save scumming like mad to avoid "stupid" deaths, then wonder why the game gets laughably easy and all the drama is lost I just want to complete the game for sure the first time. next run I'll definitely do ironman [editline]10th February 2016[/editline] it's like gambling with cash vs. gambling with monopoly money, honestly, but I want to see the ending

Won't save you from going to missions you can't do too early tho!
This game needs some serious patching. Getting real tired of the game breaking because of animations getting stuck.
Watching my friend play, EMP'd a Sectopod and then Hacked it and took control. First 2 turns it could not do anything at all. After that it was locked in a stunned state and could teleport around, but not attack. It stayed like that after control was lost (after 4-5 turns oddly, does EMP effect control time?) and was pretty easy to deal with as a result.
Speaking of The Speaker, I just realized he was voiced by Brandon Keener, AKA Garrus from Mass Effect. If there's anyone that could talk me into trusting a regime of alien overlords...
I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but the same voice actor was in a cutscene voicing a random Xcom dude who told Bradford that The Speaker was doing a broadcast. It literally went from "You better see this" to the same fucking voice speaking about destroying the resistance. Just a little bit jarring. I love Brandon Keener's voice though, and thought about adding it as a voice pack using the Company of Heroes US sniper's voice, but it probably wouldn't work all that well.
Don't worry, you'll learn how to savescum in Ironman mode too. It's not exactly applicable to XCOM, but imagine that.
The only time I've save scummed is when the game decides that my soldiers will die if they get poisoned. They take one point of damage and then just fall over dead.
They could really use a skip animation and dialogue button. Yes I know those are aliens, I don't need the camera to show me the 5 to 15 second animation of being spotted
I think things could just be smoothened out a lot more. Currently an ambush goes like: Player Control (Attack) -> Attack Confirmation -> Squad Revealed -> Pod Reaction -> Pod Reposition -> Player Control. But it'd flow much better if it were like: Player Control (Attack) -> Attack Confirmation & Pod Reaction -> Pod Reposition -> Squad Revealed & Player Control. And now you just cut down the delays from 5 to 3 without actually removing anything from the game.
About "the Speaker",[sp] I can't believe there never was a mission to kill him, i would've loved a guerilla mission where you had to put a bullet between his eyes as he's doing one of his speeches. Maybe in combination with the radio-tower mission. And yeah, i'm aware such violence only gives ADVENT more fuel to paint XCOM as "Terrorists", but let's admit, it would be pretty cool. I wonder what happened to him after the end anyway, the fact he still speaks to you during the final mission does support the fact he survived the angry mob and got away.[/sp]
[sp] I absolutely feel like the speaker will come back leading the cult of sirius in a future game, or maybe expansion [/sp]
Operation Half-Eaten glove, a retaliation mission. Every civilian was on the opposite side of the map, so only two survived. I wish civ placement was more balanced. Not even exaggerating, there were 2 within 4 full-turn sprints from the skyranger. The rest were in two clumps on the other side of the map just getting picked off.
I love how they always inadvertently trash the places they're supposed to patrol. I've had a few blacksite missions where they just kept trashing the walls of the compound they're supposed to protect.

Just get a Magus rank Psi Op and dominate their minds 95% of the time.
Gatekeepers are the worst offenders, they're basically psionic wrecking balls. I dominated one in a UFO and I'm not sure how many alloys I lost since it demolished every wall on the way out.
[sp] when you've finished the story, the main "mascot" for XCOM2 becomes a lot eerier.[/sp] [thumb]http://cdn.idigitaltimes.com/sites/idigitaltimes.com/files/2016/01/18/xcom2.jpg[/thumb]
So i quickly tried to kill a advent with my sword and hit one of them explosive things instead half of my team dies.
So i quickly tried to kill a advent with my sword and hit one of them explosive things instead half of my team dies.
I like how your ranger took a full minute to realize he should be dead.
I want a mod that adds armed civvies. Gotta love it in Xenonauts where you rock up to a farm only to find a shed filled with corpses and a redneck just standing there with a shotgun
This is one of the big things I loved about Xenonauts that I feel should really be in future XCOM games. Still remember this one terror mission where I'm sitting out on the street in a total killzone while aliens have this flank on me because I fucked up bad. Guaranteed to lose at least a soldier until this reservist storms out of a building, opens up with a laser machinegun, wipes out 2 aliens and suppresses the rest.
So what's the reason to NOT wait until avatar has one hour left before you lose the game, and then do a blacksite? When the bar is full you seem to have 20 days anyway
So what's the reason to NOT wait until avatar has one hour left before you lose the game, and then do a blacksite? Wet Work applies retroactively.
So I had one of my rangers kill a sectopod with his sword. He killed it, the proceeded to panic because he took 2 points of damage :v:
technically nothing although i'd hesitate to leave it that long. i slowly ticked up to 1 pip left before hastily doing some black sites and now i'm back down to half with 3/4s of the world covered
Speaking of weird panics. I had rookie get hit by a stray ADVENT Trooper burst, he panics, runs to cover and throws a grenade at a group of civilians. Y-Yeah... You showed those sympathizers. (I'll upload a picture when I get home)
A little late but here we go: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317870820620257155/634F3FF99AB0A9A15D3FF83C48DA76F3E3D0C60F/[/t] [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/317870820620257268/BC62FFA8A12890BD65EC6714C1890D3CC960B5DE/[/t]
That feel when everyone else died and only one person lived. [thumb]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/321248998092521253/50081B96643264FF8C2F6094AFB738EC1A4F05C3/[/thumb]
Gatekeepers are the worst offenders, they're basically psionic wrecking balls. Mod idea: Replace Gatekeeper model and sounds with Portal 2's Wheatley or the 'Spaaaaace' AI orb. (Saw someone made the comparison on reddit)
