What happens when you fail or ignore retaliation missions? Is it like EU where you can't make contact with that country anymore?
Iunno about failing but if you ignore it you gotta recontact the region if I remember correctly.
I just rifted a codex, it cloned and was panicked and it's panicked clone shot the original. Also if you have a mind controlled gatekeeper and a muton melees it, it lacks an unconscious state and just dies with it's model just floating there. The final fight has so much cheese thrown around on both sides it's awesome.
So about the "Who Needs Tygan?" achievement... (Spoilers because final mission)
[sp]I'm thinking all psi operatives, each equipped with a medkit and flashbang (these are buildable from the start, so I think they count as conventional gear). The key here is that these guys have almost no real firepower if they're limited to ballistic rifles. Probably no shredding at all unless you bring a few frags. The good thing about the psi operatives is that all of their damaging abilities is that they skip armor, plus the psi repeater which actually does good damage skipping armor. If you can line up the aliens right, you can hopefully null lance several guys at once. With insanity or void rift you get a shot at mind control which effectively gives you some extra firepower and they may get taken out for you. Obviously domination will let you pretty much double your squad size. You could maybe swap a psi op for a specialist so you can stun/control robotic enemies, or for the unlimited heal range of a gremlin. With some very slow movement, you should be pretty ok, larger enemies like sectopods or andromedons could be well taken out by 4-5 null lances. The Avatars would go down in the same amount of time. Up until the final chamber you're very well allowed to just let you sit around and wait for ability cool downs. Perhaps if dominations waited until the final chamber, they might be most useful where you'll see the worst enemies, or most practical. I guarantee you won't have the firepower to do jack shit about gatekeepers, andromedons, or sectopods, but considering deaths in the final mission don't matter, you could feel free to rush and focus on the avatars rather than kill all the aliens. Besides, with conventional gear you definitely won't have the power to kill all the aliens that warp in.[/sp]
is our character pool still the 7 february one or was it updated?

Wooo, finally beat the game. Endgame spoilerinos ahoy!
[sp]The amount of bugs and shit I had to deal with in the final battle was unreal, between the overwatch bug, a bunch of other bugs related to overwatch, and some other more minor shit it was one hell of a ride. What really took the cake however was one of the avatars teleporting back through the facility, causing me to have to watch the pre final battle cutscene twice again. I finally found out what was going on and chased that fucker down like he owed me money. In the middle of the fight I started getting some weird graphical bugs, culminating in THIS monstrosity http://imgur.com/Bjs107T [/sp]
Overall I felt that XCOM2 was more fun than EU but kinda lacking in the completeness that EW had.

Hopefully we'll see some of that with the "Alien Hunters" DLC bit thats supposed to add new enemy types and "Shen's Last Gift" for a new class thats hopefully either MECs or Adam Jensen. Though I'm a bit worried that it seems like the DLC is more along the lines of Slingshot as opposed to Enemy Within.
I remember them saying in an interview that nothing like EW is going to be released for X2
X2 is already more complete than EU when it came out but.... yeah i dont expect much from the DLCs
if anything i'm more hyped about someone recreating EW over X2
So, X-Com 2 has been out for a week now. Still no patch. Still can't play it.
[editline]13th February 2016[/editline]
Although to be honest, DLCs for EU were also rather underwhelming.
Just had a squad wipe at the end of April on my restarted Ironman run thanks to two stun lancers knocking two of my troops out cold and getting a ranger critted in full cover
I really, really want to enjoy Xcom 2 but man am I struggling to find reasons
I think I just need to take a break considering I've just had two really unsuccessful runs in a row, but it's that pull of "you gotta get a good run in"
You didn't start XCOM 2 on Ironman right? :v: Maybe I'm just weird but I like finishing my games on the less bullshit difficulties first, then I slightly bump them up on a new game, if not I just stick to the fun difficulties otherwise.
I just don't have fun with the cheaty difficulties, and knowing how the system in XCOM works I'm not sure if I could ever have fun on anything other than Normal.
To be honest with how moddable the game is, an expansion like Enemy Within could expand the gameplay with professional quality like the base game, sure, but we're inevitably bound to see a lot of content eventually that ultimately would render the need for expansions moot.
Maybe.

Personally, I tend to shy away from mods that change gameplay until the developers have released all of the content for that game, and in the rare cases where the modding is extensive but they're still releasing content, I still look forward DLC much more than any mod.
So how does the AWS work? I put a guy in it and he'll be out in 5 days but the dialogue makes it sound like it randomizes his skills
I want to play this more, but I almost feel like I should wait for it to get patched a bit first. It feels kind of janky overall, and I got my first crash while loading a mission today.
So how does the AWS work? I put a guy in it and he'll be out in 5 days but the dialogue makes it sound like it randomizes his skills
It resets his current skills so you can pick them again. Another benefit of the AWC is it gives your dudes a chance on level up to get an additional skill. So you can get a Specialist with Killzone.

Or, in the case of my successful run, a Grenadier with Killzone.
Holy shit. So my last game this fucking sectopod comes out, gets one of my soldiers, and makes him start to bleed out. My ranger right next to him fucking executes the whole fucking thing in one shot.
Fuck these line of sight bugs. All of my soldiers ran in the same exact path, I made sure of that using the waypoint system. For some reason only my last soldier got within LoS of a pod after all of my soldiers dashed. Complete squad wipe on their turn.

This has been reported by many players already, my friend experienced it too and thought their computer was dying.
Man, why are Codex so cheap in multiplayer?
Playing some "friendly" matches tonight, launched a 7,500 point game, and I'm suddenly fighting three of them, and three advent units all

One of the main reasons I want MP is so I can do a bunch of stupid shit with my friend, like just make a team of all ADVENT Troopers and an ADVENT Officer.
I love that accessory pack from the workshop.

Oh yeah, it's a lot of fun, had control of this situation earlier

And Andromedons are so much fun, I got to kill a Sectopod by running up and punching it so hard the building behind it exploded. It's a fun mode, when it works!

How do we submit to the FP pool? Finally got around to exporting my char.

Ironman isn't "bullshit difficulty" it's just a safeguard to stop you from bullshitting. Without ironman there's 0 consequence for tactical fuck-ups, you just reload to the start of the mission if you make a mistake. Unless you never savescum, in which case you're effectively playing ironman anyway.

Effectively playing IronMan, except you have a safeguard for if the game glitches out

I can usually handle bad situations so I don't reload too often, but if I want to experiment I like having the save and load feature around, also if my save game corrupts or if I get stuck in some area where I just always crash then meh.
I could beat the game on the highest difficulty if I wanted to, but I feel as if I'd be wasting my time :v:
I just ragequit for the first time because as a mission was going swimmingly, this stun lancer ran in just as I ran out of nades, got 4 crits in a row and squadwiped me in 4 turns. I didn't even land a single hit on him jfc
I thought having 5 grenades for an early game supply raid was enough but evidently I need more so I'm gonna move to the 4 grenadier strat
How did you manage to use all of them so quickly? I only use grenades for very specific situations so that I won't end up wasting them. Bad luck otherwise though.
Grenadiers are by far the most useful class. I usually roll with at least half the squad as grenadiers. EMP grenades, acid grenades, incendiary grenades, plasma grenades, good shit.
The state of the map after I'm done looks like a nuke went off.
So my game decided to bug out on the very last mission
First every turn took 2 minutes to actually take their actions (a pressage of things to come) and finally when i overwatched with my Specialist nothing happened at all and no one had turns. No option to save and exit in the menu, no success trying to use the End Turn button, i literally stared at the screen for half an hour listening to the bg music waiting for miracle that never came
Clearly the strongest counterattack from aliens so far: by forcing me to not play, ADVENT wins
Dark Project: Performance Problems made another commander fall.
Don't play Ironman yet boys. Honestman will save some years of your life.
