Taking a single line that ignores the context of the statement it was originally part of isn't very good for an argument.
Oh I agree with the rest of it. I just felt your closing statement might've been a tad... extreme? And to answer the above, I have many RL (and Steam) friends who still play. We make and trade off jobs for fun and do impromptu stuff in freemode, it's a great way to stay entertained and get a steady cash/RP income at the same time.

I find it doesn't feel like a great way to get steady cash/RP income at all when hackers have dropped 10 million on you for doing nothing, multiple times, and everything in the game costs so much that you lose that money so fast in what could be 1 purchase. The repetitive missions aren't fun enough to the point where I think doing them repeatedly is worth the Level 70 tank I want to get so I can mess around with my friends in freeroam. Nothing I do in missions or heists feels worth the payout which is my biggest gripe. Honestly, any game is fun when you're playing it with friends, that's just a rule of thumb, but if you're not with friends GTAO is a lot less enjoyable. I only find it enjoyable at times because I encounter funny strangers who take me on an adventure in the open world, which is where I think GTAO's core gameplay lies, playing with others in an open world. Not grinding for money and RP so you can actually afford something decent. Missions and heists are fun for a bit, but when you're forced to do them repeatedly just to unlock something at a higher level, it's a nuisance, even if you're with friends. That's how I feel, anyway.
I think GTAO's money grind has two major problems: Most jobs aren't worth the effort they require. Most players don't give a shit about jobs and want more profitable freemode activities. Rockstar has started to take steps in the right direction for the latter with things like freemode events and VIP work, but we still need more stuff to do. I honestly won't be surprised if they manage to fix this problem up though, it seems like they've been putting a decent amount of effort into making freemode much better lately. The first problem is still a huge issue though. The last time we got any sort of effective rebalancing to jobs was way back in 2014 before heists were even released. If Rockstar managed to fix job payouts to be not shit, I think a lot more players would be happier doing those activities.

Personally, I don't really care for the freemode activities, because I hate competitive game modes, especially in GTA where you can't trust anyone. I just hope they give us a big update with like 20 new contact missions, if not a mission creator.
The worst part about the contact missions is how easy it would be to implement new ones, but also how just dicking around is rewarded more than going for the objective. So i'l get more money for, say, spawning in a tank and driving it slowly to the objective and back (like i tend to do in parking garage), than i would get by just going for the objective from the get-go.
Yes. Speaking as someone who has been locked out of content several times for various reasons, still yes, because it's a fun game. You're acting as if there is absolutely nothing worthwhile to be found in player interaction. As if the only activities possible are amassing currency and stuff.
idk the fancy toys and progression and money grinding kinda leaks into free roam too. That's really the only reason I play GTA is to mess with the sandbox but trying to play the game now and everyone has heavy sniper rifles, lock on rocket launchers, and when I waste them 5 times they can just get into an Insurgent, tank, or Hydra and there really isn't anything I can do except join another lobby.

My point was that if people are just playing your game because of the grind, hoping to get to fun content at the end of it, then is your game worth playing at all really? A lot of content is locked behind many hours of grinding, and sure it could be fun when you get to that point, but what is everything before then? Is that entertainment, or is that just a job that you hope will pay out eventually? I mean, did the game honestly need the grind, is it made better for it? As said, people have fun with the freemode aspects, doing crazy shit with their cars and jets and such, having their own characters and interacting with others. But so much of that is handicapped by the grind wall. If they removed the grinding completely, removed level restrictions and made money basically just score that wasn't used for purchases or the like, would the game really suffer for it? You can still have the missions, they'd increase that score to show off if you like that, but they'd just be about player experience, at that point, giving players more to do at their leisure, not as a necessary and arduous evil to get access to new content. Remember that perhaps the biggest reason people were looking forward to FiveM is that it was just freeroam and fucking around, that the grind was gone. You just got to do whatever you wanted however you wanted. Some of the most fun I had playing GTAO was loading up Holed Up - Burton (which is entirely broken last I tried) with friends and finding numerous ways to fuck with Juan, the guy you're supposed to escort. It started with just bashing his car while he drove to Madrazo's house, then we started shooting out the tires on his car so he'd slide around and swerve all over the place, and bashing him now made him fly around across the road and go screeching way off track. Then we'd load up Friendly and we spawned in cars and such for him. We got him to drive a dump truck around, and his AI didn't know how to handle it so he bashed in to shit and kept getting stuck, and him in a Rhino was frighteningly hilarious. Giving him pedal bikes was great, and so many other weird things. Or just going out on our own, spawning vehicles and doing crazy shit with them, throwing them off buildings or driving at super speed. Creating out own weird little scenes like putting an Insurgent in the back of the cargo plane and flying around with it, one in the back getting thrown all around and then opening the back and trying to drop it somewhere and the physics going absolutely insane. But Rockstar implemented measures to counter trainers and Friendly was no longer being developed for multiplayer use, so that stopped being an option, and we don't really even play now except right after an update and then go "Shit's too expensive, fuck it." The most fun we had with the game was when Rockstar's grind and restrictions were taken out, when we had that ability to just do whatever we wanted without worry "Ohh, this is gonna be expensive. Ohh, we'll have to track this down. Ohh, we'll have to try and keep this from blowing up." The grind only serves as a time sink, it doesn't make the game more fun at all.
Apparently a new phone code has been discovered: 1-999-367-3767. As shown, it causes an explosion above the player and turns their phone black. :mystery:

In missions all I get is more loading screens and opportunities for matchmaking to shit itself.

My problem with GTAO jobs as well is that 9 out of 10 times there will be the one dickhead in his Armored Kuruma cheesing the whole thing I can't even attempt to have a good time since these people exist [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] Or just people in general who act really dumb
I feel as if the only time a karuma is ever needed is if you plan to charge in or escape an army of enemies
I've (i think) said it before and i'l say it again, rockstar needs to make the damage done by players and AI separate for certain vehicles. Using air vehicles in missions is a pain, albeit fun, because they get shot down so easily, they also have ridiculously low range, which i can get from a PvP balance perspective, but they should really have buffed HP and range VS AI. Similarily i think the kuruma fits as completely bulletproof, but why not just make players able to shoot through the windows as if it was just a normal car? Similarily the insurgent is not bulletproof at all, it could do with the same bulletproof coding as i suggested for the kuruma. Separating PvP and PvE damage balance would make the game much, much more fun IMO.

They shouldn't be nearly as accurate and they shouldn't be able to have minigun firerate with any automatic weapon.
Well yeah, but the air vehicles still could use a PvE buff imo.
The air vehicles in general really need to be worked on a bit more. They have armor that is way too weak that makes them a poor choice for PvP and PvE. However, they also need to bring back cooldowns and reloads for the air vehicle weapons so the people who spam guns get punished for not aiming. Although, things needing work is a common issue in this game. I can't really think of anything that has decent balance at the moment. :v:
i managed to replace music samples used for the rockstar editor to prove that there was no third party touches, the video exists on Social Club http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/games/gtav/editor/myvideos/video/iOtfxU1hCUeVHbPxir3ylg had to use this song because it was a FLAC and surprisingly lower sample rate than any song in GTA 5
Wondering if I should redo the MTA thread considering I got the server working again.
I feel as if the only time a karuma is ever needed is if you plan to charge in or escape an army of enemies
For escaping the Karuma is good, for charging in and murdering everything that exists, the Insurgent is best. Insurgent for life.
I've noticed a lot less douchebags in armored Kurumas lately. Did they nerf the windows on that pos?
I've noticed a lot less douchebags in armored Kurumas lately. Did they nerf the windows on that pos?
They sold them to buy Yachts.
I've noticed a lot less douchebags in armored Kurumas lately. Did they nerf the windows on that pos?
The new armored cars are better because the windows actually stop bullets, rather than just being hard to aim through. At least one of them is straight-up better in terms of performance too.
So, what do you guys think is the next update? My bet is lowriders part 2, and maybe a re-do of Valentines Day Massacre [sp]if they actually give a shit this year, unlike last year.[/sp]
The new armored cars are better because the windows actually stop bullets, rather than just being hard to aim through. At least one of them is straight-up better in terms of performance too.
I actually haven't seen anyone driving the new armored cars. Everyone's just sticking to their chrome kurumas [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] Any time I see someone in a Kuruma, I just stay away from them since they're pretty much invincible unless you blow them up, and I don't want to pay for the insurance.
I like driving around in a T-20 for the purpose of getting killed so people have to pay like $25,000 in insurance. [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] Or well I would do if I cared enough to play the game, which I honestly don't as of late, I just can't be fucked, the game hasn't brought a great into it for me to gain interest again, which is a shame since overall GTA V isn't bad, it's just boring really.
I like driving around in a T-20 for the purpose of getting killed so people have to pay like $25,000 in insurance.
I take that concept a step further, and block the entrance to LSC with my T20, and just sit there in passive mode watching people try to smash their way through until they give up and destroy the car. Usually by the time they make it through, they could've already been at the other LSC on the other side of town :v:
Oh no, don't ruin my nice expensive car, that's going to cost me a fortune to repair. Just kidding, it's gonna cost you in the insurance dickwad.
I actually haven't seen anyone driving the new armored cars.
Then you aren't playing with the right people because the only car I drive now is the Armoured Baller LE
