5s online is easily better than 4, hackers and all taken into account.
There's actual stuff to do and work towards, character customization is actually existent this time around, you can earn your own cars/planes/etc. To call your own. You can still walk around and nab cool cars should you so desire, steal planes and helis from the airport, and just in general fuck around just as well as you could in 4, they just added, you know, substance to it all for those who wanted it.
4s online was essentially a proof of concept, in my eyes. Going back to try to play it after playing with GTAO would be fairly frustrating.

Exactly. GTAO is almost literally GTA IV's multiplayer with roleplay elements and personalisation on top.
The only major difference between the two (if you chose to play both like IV) is the lack of weapon spawns on the map in GTAO.

pretty much explains why GTA IV's single player was more enjoyable than V's[/QUOTE]
Some of these are pretty nitpicky (oooh niko does a one-second animation when it's raining and he's standing still!! so much better omg GOTYAY) or cherry-picked (this thing usually happens in V but this time it didn't happen so I'm gonna record that and put it on the video) but I really do miss the driving and the pedestrians making a lot more use of the Euphoria system.
And some things are just weird to complain about, you mean to tell me that some people liked the way you were so easily projected through your windshield in GTA IV? It'd be fine if there was a way you could wait a bit and have your character put on a seatbelt, much like how if you do that on a motorcycle they put on a helmet, but otherwise it's just annoying.
And also the way the cops don't shoot you while you're pointing a gun at them in GTA IV even though they have their guns pointed at you, how in the world is that a good thing? The video maker seem to push that "this NPC interaction which is unrealistic in V compared to IV is bad but this unrealistic interaction in IV compared to V is GOOD!" what?
And in other bits, figuring out what exactly the guy is complaining about is confusing. Like the part with niko/trevor entering a strip club. What exactly is the complaint there? That GTA IV's strip club is bigger? What? And what about 14:45, what's the complaint there? That the car in GTA IV, when the rear tires are blown, turns slightly faster while doing a burnout than in V? What the fuck? Anyone can fill up a 15 minute video talking shit about the game if you include utterly meaningless fluff like that.
And since when is falling from 1000 ft and not dying just because you landed on water a good thing?
I'll always agree that some aspects of GTA IV were definitely better, especially when it comes to driving and stuff, and many of those are pointed out but a good bunch of it seems to be "GTA IV did it better because... it's how GTA IV did it". What about the fact that GTA IV's world doesn't feel as alive because it's missing a bunch of things? And the fact that it lacks any sort of underwater exploration which is something many people love? It wasn't all roses in GTA IV. Not to mention that horrible muddy look that has trouble going away even with ENB's and stuff.
A lot of the complaints are genuine but ultimately, quite a lot of things that the video maker is complaining about with this video are minor attention to detail things that have no real effect on how fun the game is (ooh the tyre deflates slowly when you shoot it), while not bothering to note that there are parts where V does have more attention to detail compared to IV.
The pointing the gun at the police thing is supposed to be them diving or going for cover since you ARE aiming a gun at them.
But the LSPD probably don't take chances and shoot you anyway regardless of whether you fired upon them or not.
All i hate in GTAV is that shooting a gun without even hitting anyone gets you a wanted level
My problem is their attention to detail kinda fucked off really.

...Which is what police does. Because there's someone ponting a gun at them.

gta 4 had character customization and you unlocked clothes by ranking up in the ranked matches

You kinda don't want to stand in the open if there's a potential firefight on your hands. Cops would most certainly run for cover and then return fire.
Also, I gotta say that the overall aggressiveness of cops in GTAV is pretty bonkers. I mean, the LSPD shoots people for fighting in the street! It's a wonder why the city is almost empty, I bet they open fire on jaywalkers, too. GTAIV at the very least had cop AI that wasn't as sociopathic as the main characters.

That's what I meant, more or less. There were VERY few options. It's actually something fairly developed now, and not something that feels like an afterthought.

if theres a guy who walks up to you and pulls a gun out and starts pointing it at you, you don't stagger around trying to look for something to hide behind, you shoot first and ask questions later. if they go and pull a gun on you they probably aren't going to set it right back down after you tell them to.

That is true, in GTA IV they actually arrested people. In GTA V they only arrest -you- and that's if you do something very specific, usually they just shoot you dead.
It's still amusing how in Story mode cops actually have chases with NPCs though
It makes the world feel a bit more alive
It's what GTAO lacks for obvious reasons, but in general GTAO really just feels empty without other players
My problem with GTA:O is the way police behaves at times. It's hard as hell to try and make an escape if you're holed up with a four star wanted level . I kind of wish police worked like it does in [sp] Blitz Play [/sp]
After killing a certain number of cops during a wanted level it will eventually make them retreat further from you for a while, giving you a chance to find another vehicle or move.
Also, they should add more PvE stuff for Online.
The whole cop system needs to be redone, especially the spawning. They need to make the amount and the spawns of police a bit more realistic. "oh, you're driving up Chilliad? welp, police car driving down from the top :)"
[editline]18th January 2016[/editline]
And it's weird how deer chill on roadsides eating while cars are going by until -you- come along, then they run. I feel like they should put less emphasis on the player character being a player and instead just treat us as any old NPC.
Chinatown Wars had the most fun wanted system IMO. In order to lose stars, you have to get rid of increasing numbers of cops tailing you by disabling their vehicles, encouraging the sort of gratuitous, explosive carnage you'd want from a GTA game, in EVERY chase.
That combined with the visual system of V would work great. Destroy all cops that can see you, then stay out of sight of the next wave to spawn, and you're safe.

I wish GTA Online had been focused on free mode instead of dumb missions.
[QUOTE=Agoat;49555847]I wish GTA Online had been focused on free mode instead of dumb missions.[/QUOTE]
I think that's the direction they're heading in, with the recently added free mode events and the VIP/Bodyguard system. Personally, I would prefer more missions though.
The reason why it was mission-focused initially was that they knew they couldn't do much in the way of complex mass scripting in freeroam on 360/PS3. It was just way too much, they had to section it off in sandboxed job instances with reduced player counts.
That changed with XBO/PS4/PC of course. With more power under the hood to work with, GTAO is slowly shifting to a freemode focus. It's probably what they wanted all along.

I mean, every time though? Just from statistics some of that should end in a negotiation/standoff
Also I watched like half the video and 90% of what I saw was the euphoria engine which I miss
I also miss the way driving used to work. Cars actually felt heavy and driving good was actually a skill
[editline]18th January 2016[/editline]
Also it drives me fucking crazy when I'm driving a car with 1,000 horse power and police v8 Ford Tauruses somehow can go hyperspeed and catch up no matter what
Driving was atrocious in GTAIV. It wasn't a skill, and in a game about driving, making it some apparent specialized skill is stupid. Vehicles handled poorly and despite what some people say were not realistic by any means. Being as responsive as a buttered brick covered in lard doesn't make a good driving system.
GTA IV driving required nuance so I won't hold it against people who say they enjoy it (I thought it was awful) but it absolutely was not realistic. If you have driven a car in real life for 10 minutes I have no idea how you could possibly say that.
Realistic driving would be somewhere between GTA V and IV but honestly I think V gets it closer, even if things stick to the road a little too well.
In the end I think GTA 5 is better because there is much more content to play around with. GTA IV did not have a lot of ( military ) vehicles to play around with, no countryside, and a rather small arsenal of weapons. However the attention to detail in GTA V is lacking. For example, we got a supposedly non-lethal tazer in GTA V, but because the developers were to lazy to make a 'crippled' animation of some sorts, the tazer is fully lethal and just kills anyone you shoot with it.
iv's driving is more fun but that much body roll is only realistic in a car that's broken

Euphoria is still there, it is just toned down. Cops will still grab onto your car if you drive away while they're trying to open the door, people react to being thrown through the air and being shot.
Regards to cop AI:
I could be wrong, but I believe in LSPDFR if you're not on duty the cops still use the modded AI. Tazers and that, they won't shoot unless shot.
Though one thing I noticed, cops in LSPDFR have laser pointers on their tazers for some reason :v:
I get the nitpick that the cops are too aggressive in V but then I remember they're supposed to be LAPD and that makes it funny as fuck. It's like a subtle social commentary told through game mechanics.

That "subtle social commentary" is sadly pretty god damn annoying and stops being fun after 5th case of you getting shot for simply even existing.

You're on track with what Rockstar was thinking but there's nothing subtle about it, it's very overt. :v:
