Does anyone happen to know how GTAO faces work? Do you actually create a unique model for your face or is it something else? I've been trying to find a way to extract get my GTAO model and port it into Source and it's not exactly been easy.
There are something like 15 presets (spanning a few ethnicities and both genders), assumedly a preset for the "base child" of each set of parents. Those are then deformed and altered based on other things you select as far as I'm aware.
So even if I tried to use something like NinjaRipper to extract the model, I wouldn't get the exact face I wanted?
So even if I tried to use something like NinjaRipper to extract the model, I wouldn't get the exact face I wanted?
There's a copy stored somewhere in the R* cloud. It's loaded when you go into Director Mode, somehow skipping GTAO and just loading whatever deformations you applied to the base, but it's not saved locally or on the model itself (you just get green-hair albino guy if you load it yourself). I've tried to figure out what it's doing when it searches, but no luck yet.
I haven't heard of anybody using a model ripper for that though, maybe it'll work.
man I can't even get ninja ripper to work with gtav
So uh, does this fake online in singleplayer or is this some multiplayer in singleplayer type thing?

Yes and no. It is basically an framework and API for a dedicated server based MP, much like SA:MP. It uses only singeplayer assets, no GTAO assets.
Is there a guide to SA modding? I'm having trouble using SAMI and i'm not sure how to manually mod myself.

Think SAMP/MTA but for V, that's pretty much what it is, unlike FiveM which used online assets and code to function, this uses its own.
Still wont be surprised if T2 attacks it though.

If you have the Steam version, or any version that's not the 1.0 Hot Coffee or 1.1?, then you need to downgrade to that version.
You'll need a IMG editor to edit those IMG archives in the models folder. Search google for IMGTool.
If you want to use CLEO or any ASI mods, then you need a ASI Loader. Gtaforums or GTAGarage has those, you've gotta look for them. I can't remember if the CLEO installed came with one.

Easier alternative, download MTA and install it, it automatically downgrades the Steam version, no fucking around with other tools, as for modding basically what he said.
just played IV multiplayer. Had some fun until a hacker joined the lobby...

I just found probably the biggest and most ambitious GTA SA and probably any GTA mod up to date:
http://gtaforums.com/forum/366-underground/
This mod combines the map of SA, LC and VC into one big map. They also plan to add Manhunt 1 2 and Carcer city later on as well as some other custom maps. They are pretty much pushing the renderware engine to the limit here. They somehow got rid of the previous limitations that were deemed impossible to get rid of and that prevented something like this from existing.
Not only that but all maps will have peds, traffic, their own interiours for safe houses, empire making from VCS, their own cars, weapons, and localized radio stations from VC, III and SA (not from LCS or VCS sadly). They plan to include every single weapon and car from the 3D era universe (including Manhunt games and VCS and LCS) and even extra guns. The author said there will be over 200+ guns. They will also add most of the unused interiours from SA that will be fully solid and gang wars all troughout the maps. Pretty much every feature from SA, VC and III will be in it including custom missions as well as the whole SA storyline and a shitload of extra other things. They are really working and considering every small detail here. I can't believe something like this exists.

Thanks guys. I was pulling my hair out till the early morning figuring out what to do. there's not any good guides either apart from the cringy music and fraps 15 frame videos from 2006

Widescreen mod by ThirteenAG is essential if you have a 16:9 and 16:10 monitor.
SilentPatch is a must have. It fixes several things that were broken in SA.
SkyGFX: PS2 graphics to PC by The Hero is another must have, since the PC version lacks the atmosphere from the PS2.
I really like grinding in GTAO. I don't know why and I can't stop enjoyig it.

People underestimate just how good the San Andreas build is, most of its limits are just there because of the hardware at the time couldn't handle it, if anything, the online mods have shown how flexible the engine can be.
Also the "impossible limits" were just hardcoded issues, if you've done like they have and rip the engine apart you can most certainly raise them or outright remove them. The only issue I can see happening with this mod is them stretching the AI too far, SA likes to track everything even if you can't see it and if its at the completely opposite side of the world so they might hit some issues there, the other is the engine doesn't like it when you go X distance away from the centre of the world, however if they manage to fix those issues, the X distance one is pretty easy, just a case of moving the land masses closer together, but the AI issue could be a tricky one.
Do people still play IV's multiplayer?

Not sure how they do all this but from what i could see, i believe that the maps aren't loaded into one single huge map at the same time but rather each map exists seperately. Not sure how to explain this but just watch this video from 24:40 to 24:50 and see how suddenly the weather changes and the land simply vanishes behind him, implying that he entered the SA map area. So i would assume that when he is in VC or SA or LC it only loads the AI or whatever on that map only. Or maybe i'm all wrong here i don't know.

Guess they figured out a way to get the maps to work as a cell system, if that's the case it means the concept can be expanded basically indefinitely.

In GTA IV, it's unusual if there's actually a guy in multiplayer not using a trainer today.
[editline]24th January 2016[/editline]
Also, how the hell did you get your IV to work multiplayer? I can't get past the fucking rockstar club thing, because it refuses to log in. And that eliminates any further chance of making anything else but a lan game.
God, Asset Recovery is so fucking frustrating. Even after you bust your ass trying to lose the cops, you still get a wanted level for no reason every now and then.
IIRC most trainers only works in free mode
And there's nothing wrong with using hacks on free mode tbh. If you meet the occasional toxic asshole who god modes and Fuck Everyone Up, get a trainer yourself or kick em

IV's multiplayer is weird since your character randomly is assigned a voice
I don't like the rough male one

I remembered that if you aimed while using the voice command he would say really fucked up things, and same if you used the voice command right after he got hurt by another player.
Speaking of voices, I just found that NPC bodyguards in GTA V will thank you for assists when beating up enemies.
random question, but does anyone know the custom gamemode for gta5 where you have to run up a ramp while objects are falling down? someone posted it a while ago but I can't for the life of me find out what it's called.
