I got time to kill
I got time to kill
Well it's not until Friday, so you've got time to wait if you're still up :v:
I'm in. But not on Friday, unless it's late into European night.
Which it probably is, so no problem.
I'm up for it. I need a reason to play again especially since I'm back to no cash. Luckily classes haven't gotten heavy yet.
I'm joining if you guys are not too far from me.
I don't have my computer at all until late friday, early saturday maybe. God damn the timing of this.
Since I can't make actual model mods, I thought I'd get a little creative:

Each of these you can see is obviously a new variation, with spec differences to match the badges. Since not every car you see in real life is the highest end variant, I thought this would be nice for a little touch of realism.
The Tailgater has the Tailgater RS, which is slightly heavier but is faster and AWD with a V8 sound as opposed to the V6 on the original.
The Intruder has had its sound swapped with a V8 sound, then the new one, the "2.7 GS" was given a V6 sound, lower specs and slightly lower weight.
The Primo was also given a V8 sound, while the down-market Primo LX has the original car's V6 sound, lower power, and no two-tone paintjob.
Does anyone have any ideas for other car variations? Limited to handling/textures/sound swaps, but added as standalone cars.
EDIT:
Holy. Shit.

I really liked that GTA IV did engine/trim variations on cars. Most notable example was the DF8-90 which had base, V6 Sport and V8 Turbo versions, all of which had different characteristics. The V8 was a rocket, great for sliding around.
I was sorta disappointed they omitted that sort of detail in V.
I've had poor performance after 30-ish to an hour's worth of play time since Ill-Gotten gains came out, and I haven't played since. Is this a common issue? Did they ever fix it?

"There are no menus, lobbies, or load times – just an open Freemode session filled with Friends, Crewmates, rivals, and randoms where spontaneous and chaotic new games and challenges will appear."
Sounds like it's being updated to work like MMOs/The Crew where people are simply streamed in? Uncertain but it sounds pretty cool.
Cool, I'll get to experience the update.

On the bit for "Hunt the Beast" (0:50, or just in the thumbnail) you can see he's wearing a letterman jacket. Hopefully that means we'll be able to buy them now.
Supposedly, this is a list of all the new activities:
Penned In – A vehicular free-for-all to stay inside an ever-shrinking and always-moving dome. If you’re caught outside the dome for more than a few seconds you’ll blow up and be eliminated from the competition.
Criminal Damage – Rack up the biggest property damage bill you can before time runs out. Equip your biggest weapons and go to town on anything and everything in sight.
Hunt The Beast – Players team up to track and kill the beast – a randomly selected player with superior speed and extra health – before it can collect 10 checkpoints scattered around the world within the time limit. The beast is invisible on the mini-map save for whenever it collects a checkpoint, which will cause it to blip for 10 seconds (and increasing in duration with each checkpoint collected).
Challenges - Longest jump; longest skydive; longest wheelie; most vehicles stolen; most near misses; lowest parachute deploy; longest bail from vehicle; furthest distance low flying; and more.
Moving Target - A vehicle is blipped on the map, the first player to deliver it to the marked destination wins.
Kill List - A vehicle is blipped on the map, once the requisite number of players enter they must take out as many waves of enemies as possible.
Kill List Competitive - Same as above, but multiple vehicles are blipped and players compete against each other to rack up the most kills in the given time limit.
Checkpoints - 120 checkpoints spawn in a quadrant of the map. Players compete to collect the most in the given time limit. This mode comes in two variants: land & sea checkpoints and air checkpoints.
Time Trial - A persistent blip on the map where players can try to beat the Rockstar par time and world record on a route that changes weekly.
Hold the Wheel - A target vehicle is blipped on the map for 5 minutes. Players compete to be the one in the vehicle when the timer expires.
Hot Property - Players compete to control possession of a blipped briefcase. The longer you have it, the more points you earn.
Dead Drop - A briefcase is blipped for players to collect and deliver to a location. Players compete for the chance to deliver the briefcase.
King of the Castle - The first player to a blipped location becomes King, and gain points as long as they remain King. Players compete to kill and become the King.

Hunt The Beast sounds like something we can do during a crew session
Doesn't sound like a bad update so far. Hope it doesn't end up being another case of good idea, but awful execution though.
Also, from the IGN article:
One often-requested addition is the ability to customise your apartment. Right now, apartments within a similar price range have near-identical interiors.
"We know that players are looking for some fun customization options around their personal apartments and we have a few ideas that we're currently working on for future updates."
I'm just happy that the R* editor is going to be on consoles, that'll tie me over till I upgrade my pc to be able to play the game at constant 60fps

awesome
never liked having 2 of the same painting on my APT's hallway, and the furniture seemed tacky
September 15th is my last day of work!!!! Aww man i'm going to have a fun 2 weeks before school in October.
I hope those spontaneous activities are of the "everyone get to this area within X time to opt in" variety and not "everyone is now forced to play"
Because while at a given moment I might want to participate very soon, maybe right this second isn't a good time, and I'd rather not have everyone dogpile me while I'm selling cars or doing a gang attack or something.
Sweet I should be unbanned by then
I'd like to see more opportunities to get money, like stealing shit and selling to a fence like in APB Reloaded.
It's about damn time, R*.
Now Rockstar should move away from P2P and use actual servers, but maybe using P2P for solo sessions
really makes it not fun to play when your friends desync everywhere

Don't worry, you can ignore the events:
Freemode events take place every 12 minutes and you have the choice to either take part in them, ignore completely or, if you so choose, spectate. Some of the events – such as the high-speed challenge – are ‘ambient’, meaning you can take part no matter where you are on the map. Others require you to drive to a specific area on the map before the challenge kicks off.
Good. Bounties are obnoxious enough.
Apartment customization sounds great! I'm tired of having pictures of Franklin's family all over my house. Makes me feel like I murdered the real owners or am in the middle of pulling an Axel Foley.
I'm honestly not really impressed with the freemode events. It looks like the only thing this update is bringing is the Rockstar Editor, which is cool, but I was really hoping for some new content.

I hope we can get that letterman jacket the beast wears, I love that kind of jacket.
[sp]don't you goddamn say the bomber jackets are good enough because they aren't. also franklin uses them in singleplayer so why can't we get some[/sp]

They might quietly add new content related to these events
I really really don't want to do rpf modding as it means It's another thing I have to keep switching back and forth for if I want to do director mode mods and then online stuff... but I just had to make an exception...
BUT HOW COULD I SAY NO TO THIS?
