Specifically, they were asked about the possibility of a female link, and Aonuma went "Well we thought that once, then thought 'Why not just make Zelda the protagonist?', but then thought 'If Zelda was the protagonist, what would Link do?', so we just decided it'd be easier not to do that."
It's pretty silly reasoning, probably would have been better had they said nothing. Still, nothing to get uproarous about.

From what I've gathered from a place I can't even remember it's like a smaller sized Xcom. You pick three characters from a set list of them, and you go on missions. That's all the info we've gotten from what I can remember.
Well, if there's one thing Miyamoto's always been great at, it's the basic feel of just controlling your character.

I don't think it happened at all, personally. I think people are just so hungry for a demo after seeing how amazing it looks that this guy or multiple guys wanted to take everyone for a ruse cruise for their 15 minutes of fame.
