I try to design my settlements so that settlers can navigate them.
So do I. I'm saying just the SS might have trouble getting through that.
I've never found a use for traps. Have seen no use for them because even if a Settlement gets attacked, the enemies spawn in the middle of the settlement. Can anyone tell me if I am using traps wrong or something? Because they really seem pretty useless.

Not if you use a terminal to set the traps to enemy only, atleast for the vanilla ones. I don't know if it's the same for the WW ones that don't need a tripwire/pressure plate.

The radiation mines don't deliver anywhere near enough rads to be fatal, the flamers do absolutely nil damage, and I think you have to repair them all after each use which is basically just a huge nuisance. You may as well just manually lay some frag mines or something and get the XP for the kills
Does anyone know how to disable fog? Completely? Forever? In all of it's entirety? Like by making the fog particle effect blank? I just really hate to be walking along, minding by business, when suddenly out of completely clear blue skies the thickest fog you've ever seen coming out of completely nowhere in under a fraction of a second. [editline]15th April 2016[/editline] I'm talking about particle fog btw, not distance fog. I already have "FogOut" for that.
for those who have the CK, does bethesda have a forum for testers to discuss it?
So I was doing the quest to assault the[sp]former Railroad donut shop HQ[/sp] We meet up with Ricky and he informs us of the situation[sp](synths and a minefield)[/sp] I pass the speech check to ask him to provide sniper fire, and as we're perched up on an overpass overlooking the building I figure he'll stay up there and cover us when we begin the assault I peek over the railing and start picking synths off with my Two Shot .50 Sniper, and generally scope the place out That's when I notice something moving and scope in on it just in time to see RICKY CASUALLY WALKING DOWN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD TOWARD THE COMPOUND BY HIMSELF While I'm scoped in on him wondering what the fuck he's doing he gets about three steps before STEPPING ON A LANDMINE AND FLOPPING OVER DEAD :speechless: god dammit ricky
i lost about 25-30 minutes of sprucing up sanctuary because my game crashed after taking this screenshot: [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/281848293037437924/5BDFA22C6CF96282A928BAB65D6D762D74CE727E/[/t] [editline]15th April 2016[/editline] like the one time i actually put effort into home building the game crashes on me and i forgot to save. fuck me running.
I am running into this fucking annoying bug where I can't place ANYTHING that requires concrete. I have over 400 pieces of concrete in the settlement's workshop, and none of the concrete stuff (which it says I have all of the materials for) can be placed. This is REALLY pissing me the fuck off.
Continuing the same question, doesn't the settlers themselves spring the traps?
The only one it's useful for is the castle because of the door, if you wall off everything the AI either pathfinds itself to a solid wall or tries the door so that's where I toss a few flametraps The traps can be setup to go off with everything but you can set them with a terminal to only go off with enemies [editline]16th April 2016[/editline]
I haven't finished that quest without deacon deciding to casually stroll through the landmines and cripple both his legs, seriously, there's no reason that we should leave the compound through the minefield that's a stupid idea
I wish I knew how to model. I'd put this into the game : This gun design screams "fallout".

Hey guys, is there some way to somewhat edit settlers navmeshes in sanctuary ? Because my settlers prefer to chill in the unromovable empty houses rather then the the buildings I created for them.
Been playing for about six days total, I'm level 90 and basically chaotic evil at this point. I'm a cannibal, I can pacify anyone, all my weapons are upgraded, I have over 100 stimpaks and I've basically destroyed every major civilization that doesn't include the ones I own. While working for the Brotherhood I kept going back to the Prydwen and asking for scribes to do the "Learning Curve" quest with, then I'd take them all to some place on the map away from the Brotherhood and I'd straight up murder them since I still got the same amount of XP anyway. It was way easier than doing the actual quest and it was kind of a hilarious way to level up since I always answered with "moron got himself killed, got another?" whenever asked about the scribes. At this point I can take out Vertibirds with my 10mm within seconds. Is the new Wasteland Workshop DLC worth it? I was never a huge fan of the customization for making your own village in this game. It's got its heart in the right place, but I just don't know how much I'd use it.
You are no role player. [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] You're basically a mindless, experience-devouring, min-maxing, Stimpak-hoarding bastard, aka your average Bethesda customer. You NEED to always have a well-defined role in each save. You simply must. And guess what your role is? The immersion-ruining abomination, who walks the Commonwealth in unpredictable and convoluted patterns, whose morals are in conflict with themselves. Shame on you!
WHERE IS SHAUN
God, you're persistent
Can't tell if this is satire or not But in FO4, I'd argue it's okay to be mindless, since that is the audience the game caters to anyway. It's a good bit of mindless fun!
Good, I guess it's a successful post then. [editline]16th April 2016[/editline] But nah, I was being half-satirical maybe. Roleplaying is already made pretty challenging in FO4, if not outright impossible lol. But I do like to set myself weird and extra challenges in the name of RP, and restrict myself from doing/consuming things that I find unfitting for the character. It's the name of the game.
Nothing wrong with playing RPGs just for gameplay and not give a fuck about hardcore roleplaying, to be quite fair. Every good RPG allows for either way to play.

i think i decided to name my SS ethan once and i almost giggled to death
If you focus on one, I think it makes it a stronger experience.
Depends on the player. I can't play RPGs without having some form of character guideline (even one I'll only loosely follow), but I know people who want to get as much as possible from a game in a single run and will prioritize gameplay over roleplay simply because as far as raw content goes, it offers more.
Nothing wrong with playing RPGs just for gameplay and not give a fuck about hardcore roleplaying, to be quite fair. Like, it may even be the meaning of life. Immersive role-playing games. And all the super nerds are the enlightened ones, not the Buddhists, not Islam, not the perverted atheists, but those who, in respect to the immersion, invest in role-playing games.
