Fallout Thread V26: At least it's not a Nuclear Winter

I wonder why Beth thinks it's so important to define a player character for Fallout when their Elder Scrolls protagonists are so open-ended? Even the old Fallout games are open-ended in this regard aside from your point of origin. It's really not their strong suit, and it tends to direct their players directly at the weakness.
Honestly it might be worth exploring the entire wasteland before the brotherhood gets there just so you can read the terminals, as the brotherhood have this nasty habit of 'removing' any relevant data to the area
Really? Is there proof of this?
Hm, I wonder if what they did with Fo4 means they'll do a voiced PC for the next Elder Scrolls.
I think that's a bad idea given the protagonist of the Elder scrolls series can be so varied, several different races, male and female, most races sound different from one another depending on where they come from and lines will have to be consistent.
Unless they go for generic female/male voice for each race, I forsee a LOT of work in that area, which might take away from other aspects of the game, tbh I hope they don't attempt it or continue it in any fashion, it also wasn't very well received in Fallout 4, so hopefully they take notice in that regard.

I've found some sections in terminals that have something around "This information has been confiscated by the brotherhood of steel for your safety, Ad Victoriam" but I don't know if it's different before the Prydwen appears.

Why are they fucking the fallout serie so hard and not their own licence ? this is ridiculous, those who don't like the elders scroll but like fallout are pretty much abandoned by bethesda when it's about having our own RPG.
Voiced SS is retarded. Honestly i don't understand. The female voice is sooo ridiculous. The male voice is boring, the woman voice is too excited, and i just don't like her voice at all. They should have added npc instead of making SS voice

Because they own the fallout license and it is fully theirs now. The original developers let out some stinkers with shit like F:Tactics (I liked it regardless) and F:BOS.
Yeah interplay was fucking the fallout franchise up long before Beth came around.

Not the main serie. F:BOS and F:TACTIC was sold as spin off just like F:NV is.
Annnnnnd.. i don't think the main team was okay with that. When they cancelled Van Buren most of them was disheartened by the new because they worked so hard on it and has put so much effort and they mostly left.

Wow, that is telling us nothing? The survival beta wasn't already released? Only a fix update?
Okay, so is 1.5 out of beta. or is the beta now just called 1.5?
Under what definition of the word "abandoned" does one have to use where releasing a brand new major entry just a scant few months ago as well as 3 DLCs with more on the way along with several free updates that adds new content means the series that game is a part of is "abandoned"?
I meant, the fans of the fallout serie, the ones that liked the 1 and the 2 that has been deeply disappointed by the 3 and the 4 while skyrim has some kinds of heavy RPG elements. Just because it's a fantasy game. And fantasy is known for being most of the time, RPG. This is just unfair.

Reading beth's intro, do the 1.5 really break mods that much ?
I'm still glad that Van Buren was cancelled, I think that the way elements of it were reused in New Vegas (Legion, Hoover Dam, Joshua Graham, etc) are better in NV than they would have been in Van Buren.

If it's anything like the survival beta it'll just disable them outright.
If it's anything like the survival beta it'll just disable them outright.
Only because Beth changed how the plugins file works.
As soon as 1.5 is out of beta I'm sure the mod mangers will be updated, it is a simple fix.
Okay, so is 1.5 out of beta. or is the beta now just called 1.5?
They just renamed the beta. Before it was specifically just testing Survival, but they've merged it with the other updates so its just the full on 1.5 test.

It's not quite as simple as you might think.
The vast majority of the third party tools use a combination of plugins.txt (to see which plugins are enabled) and loadorder.txt (to see the actual order of the plugins, including disabled ones). Because of how Bethesda updated the plugins.txt file, it's no longer necessary to use loadorder.txt to see the order of enabled and disabled plugins.
Some of the tools have already been updated for this, but not all of them yet. I know that LOOT works fine if you get one of the latest snapshots, and Wrye Flash/Bash apparently supports the change too, though it's not released yet, so I can only go off of word of the guy maintaining it. FO4Edit sort of supports the update, but the current build on Nexus uses a timestamp for the ordering opposed to the order in plugins.txt. No idea when Mod Organizer or NMM will support it, though.
It's still not too difficult to fix, but for the tools that support Oblivion onwards, there's at least 3 ways to order plugins now, so they'll have to make sure that they all work without issues.
Anyone got a good ENB for this? Most Ive tried look like they smeared vaseline on the screen.
I've yet to see any enb for fo4 that doesn't look like trash
The Outcasts are back, hooray!

Is that from ZephyrWarrior's Power Armor mod?
Yes it is. I've always liked their armor, something about it feels more like it belongs in the wastes. The Brotherhood takes care of their armor and it shows, but the Outcasts look more like they use their armor.

I would have liked a ending where you caused another split with the BOS and became the leader of another section of Outcasts.
One of the mods I installed reset all my power armor as if they were just random spawns (ie 3 pieces of T-45) :cry:
[editline]20th April 2016[/editline]
That'll teach me to install mods over a save I'm already using

If they pulled it off nicely with a different voice actor and fitting accent for each race then I would love it. but as you said, it's far more likely they will either lock you into playing nirn's most generic nord with troy baker's voice with the worst dialogue choices in history (HATE SWEET ROLLS) , or spend so much time and effort on getting every race voiced properly that the rest of the game ends up as a lifeless radiant-quest-endurance-test.
I've got no idea if anyone has already brought this up, but I haven't seen it. It's part of the public beta for definite now too, so this should be fine to reveal.
Bethesda have added a bunch of new keywords/categories for new workshop items we might be able to make in the future. This doesn't include any items that go into existing categories, just things for new categories. And there's no indication as to what'll come as part of an update or part of a DLC, or if they'll even come out at all. Some of the new items go into existing categories, but there's a lot of new categories too.
Here's the list. The first bit is the main category, the bullet points are the main subcategory, the bits in brackets are the more specific sub-subcategories:
Structures:
* Boxcars (Blue, Orange)
* Scaffolding (Floors, Miscellaneous, Prefabs, Roofs, Stairs, Framework, Doors)
* Warehouse (Doors, Floors, Miscellaneous, Prefabs, Roofs, Stairs, Walls)
* Barn (Doors, Floors, Miscellaneous, Prefabs, Roofs, Stairs, Walls)
* Ball Track (Straight, Curves, Miscellaneous)
* Elevators
Decorations:
* Display (Armor Racks, Weapon Racks, Power Armor, Display Cases)
* Wall Decorations (Posters)
Power:
* Manufacturing (Conveyor Belts, Machinery, Miscellaneous)
* Marquee
* Advanced Switches
* Conduit
Again, there's nothing that says when or if these categories will ever get items, but they were all added after Bethesda started work on the new Survival mode, so they were made pretty recently.
Managed 131 mods without crashing :v:

Manufacturing ? Factorio meet Fallout 4 :v: ?
oh and also Warehouse and Barn were confirmed i think in a bethesda developer livestream, we've seen them for a quick moment during the video. Thanks !
And maybe those could be used so your settlement can produce materials massively
"Ball Track"? Is Wasteland Workshop gonna get an update where we can force captured raiders and creatures to perform death races in giant hamster balls for our amusement?
