I'm guessing that a lot of people here have Fallout 4 on either a console or their PC. I've been wanting to get it for ages and now that I can save some money for a game, I'm wondering if I should get it for my PC (so I can mod it, however I'm unsure if my PC will even be able to run it properly) or for the Xbox One (that means no mods, but I'm a 100% sure it'll run smoother.) What do you guys think?

The experience is so much better with just access to the developer console alone, not even starting on what mods can do. Playing on a console basically means any quest that breaks will stay broken, any npc that goes missing is gone for good, and anyone who refuses to talk to your character for no reason will stay that way.
Guessing that 1.5 beta doesn't work with mods, or at least MO2 [editline]22nd April 2016[/editline]
I'm guessing that a lot of people here have Fallout 4 on either a console or their PC.
The game is loaded to the brim with MGEF or "Magic Effect" records for everything, I'm pretty sure even stuff like zooming in with a scope is literally done by magic. You're casting a spell that zooms in your vision and plays the ironsight animation.
You're almost correct. Zooming with scopes uses ZOOM/Zoom Data to handle the actual zooming in and the overlay and such, while any normal sights (so iron sights and reflex sights general) are pretty much just an animation and such, though you can adjust how much you zoom in and the position and everything with individual weapon mods. The only difference is the recon scopes. They use the Zoom Data like the other scopes, but they also have a MGEF attached that picks up enemies and puts them on the compass.
Crafting is referred to as Alchemy IIRC I think it was the same in FO3 and NV.
It's been a while since I've looked at the older games in any tools, so I can't say for definite with them, but I know that Fallout 4 at least has a pretty general way of setting up crafting. You have a Constructible Object for each item that can be crafted, and then they have a workbench and I think at least one category attached to it (you might be able to have multiple categories, not sure off the top of my head). Workbenches are just Furniture, and categories are just Keywords (which Fallout 4 is absolutely full of, so it's good that Bethesda increased the cap!).
Guessing that 1.5 beta doesn't work with mods, or at least MO2
Yeah, MO2 and NMM still don't have support for the new Fallout 4 plugin activation. LOOT and FO4Edit do support it, though. If you go to %LocalAppData%/Fallout4 and open Plugins.txt, you can add an asterisk before each plugin that you want activated. You might have to disable read-only on the file, though.
cant you even give yourself dragon souls via console?
No way you're joking I hope you're joking
I'm not joking in the slightest. http://imgur.com/OqGSM74
I'm not joking in the slightest. http://imgur.com/OqGSM74
Could this mean we can make riot shields? When CK comes out that is.
would like to know too
I was using an old version of Homemaker which didnt have support for WW. The only issue was most WW stuff wasnt showing up though So I found a patch that said it also needed Keywords so I got that. That made almost everything in the menu vanish. Eventually I ditched keywords, updated homemaker, and it all worked fine
Could this mean we can make riot shields? When CK comes out that is.
I been playing around with it lightly. Not too sure yet if thats possible but we'll see.
So I've never ran into this problem before now, but I have all of my weapons in a private container in a 2nd story room behind a door that has to be powered to open, and somehow one of my settlers manages to keep grabbing the fatman and the experimental MIRV along with all my mini nukes and keeps fucking everything up any time there's a wild animal on the island. I thought settlers couldn't access personal containers?
I'm not joking in the slightest. http://imgur.com/OqGSM74
He doesn't equip it as a shield, though. That's just the idle animation misplacing the clipboard which is equipped as a weapon.
Fired Fallout 4 up for the first time since February last night. I take one step and then get "Abernathy Farm is under attack", then Automatron quest notice. Then as soon as I get to Abernathy Farm, it turned out the threat was a lone feral ghoul that got offed by a turret during fast travel......... Unless it turns out the Abernathy's are like, integral to a future official dlc quest, like I said months ago: Setup the Megaton Bomb, grab their cat as it's innocent and turn Abernathy Farm and it's completely helpless, can't breath without help inhabitants into sludge.
cant you even give yourself dragon souls via console?
Pretty sure the number of dragon souls you have at any given moment is just an actor value. You might try:
player.modav dragonsouls 5
No idea what would happen in Fallout 4.
Same guy who made The Rebel is making a scavenged NCR mod.
My biggest concern is I really REALLY don't want to remove all my mods My save relies on a ton of those mods and the way Fallout 4 is, I can't just make a new character. I've built all this settlement stuff, progressed so much. I would be so pissed if I had to restart
It's kinda therapeutic..
saw that one coming a mile away :v:
I for one, was completely shocked
That had more creativity in it than whoever made that maze in a parking garage next to a super mutant den.

My favorite thing I've made so far [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/500273419962159448/2EDE5889F14C73BA7AAD53A41344B5A35238931A/[/t]
Does anyone else have synth shaun call you 'dad' even though you're playing as nora..
how do i even interact with him? is there stuff to do after the institute ending?
If I wanna use mods/console in survival, what should I download? I've been googling a bit and I'm not confident in the links I found, so if someone could link me to a mod manager that works with survival I'd really appreciate it.

Believe me, I tried. I still have several broken quests on a 80 hour survival character that could be fixed by console commands. Also the safe didn't work, ended up moving all my 'precious' weapons to the fucking tug boat FAR away from any settlers on SI. I had to repair so many turrets, don't even get me started on the escaped wasteland animals (yooo shouts out to the deathclaws)

I'm pretty sure it's the only mod manager that supports it until Wrye Flash/Bash comes out. This mod and this mod both (apparently) enable the console in Survival mode in the same way, so it's your choice which one you'd use. I'm not using Survival mode, though, so I can't really confirm if they work myself.
how do i even interact with him? is there stuff to do after the institute ending?
you can send him to a settlement and he will say that shit in his idle dialouge
Another quick bug fix if anyone else is having this problem: the one where Curie keeps running back to Vault 81 and not to where you send her after dismissal -while she's near you and not your companion, type "resetquest comcurie", then "setstage comcurie 83" -if she is your companion already, dismiss her, otherwise doing the above will lock you in dialogue with her permanently hope this helps someone out, it took me forever to find this fix so I'm just spreading it around
