Fallout Thread V26: At least it's not a Nuclear Winter
So I must have fucked up when managing my mods or something because now my main menu is just a black screen with the menu itself over it. No power armor garage or something, only music. Anyone know a fix? I'ts not that much of a deal but I liked it.
Sounds like the main menu video is missing. Do you have a MainMenuLoop.bk2 file in the Video folder in your Data folder?
Seeing as Automaton is the DLC that's first up to bat, i really hope they include this fella:
[t]http://puu.sh/nEnRl.jpg[/t]
into some of the customization options, he just looks swanky, plus hes a protectron which is a win/win.
Does anyone really use criticals that often? My entire first playthrough I used critcs maybe 5 times.
Feels like a royal fuck-up not using a dice roll system.
I wish they hadn't messed with the categories on the Pip-Boy
I don't ever bother to read notes now because they're not contained in their own little section and I don't want to scroll through all the misc they put there.
Check out DEF_UI. It adds sub-tabs to misc for notes and keys and things to unclutter it.

I think it does the same for chems and food and stuff in Aid too.

I literally can't find said folder, it must have deleted itself or some shit. Which also seems to mean that I don't have the ending slideshow, which sucks because I just completed the nuclear option with the minutemen and after watching the fireworks all I get is a black screen with no way to progress. I'll check tomorrow if verifying cache fixes this, but damn I wonder what happened since I didn't delete it myself.

Nevermind, the folder is there, but the videos aren't playing which is probably worse :wavey:

Depends on the playthrough. I use 'em alot when I do melee, because shitheads can infinitely block a rocket powered sledge with their barehands. I also made kind of a crit-stacking character with high agility and luck, where VATS+crits is the main gameplay.

As it turns out, it's because the video folder was inside the textures one instead of in the main data one, it's all fixed now. Guess I moved it by mistake or something.
i just want to be able to fuck a assaultron with the new dlc.

Man, survival mode just isnt fun. Straight up skyrim levels of 'your armor is shit your weapons are shit heres 15 raiders, hope you brought 50 stimpacks and an inexhaustable supply of ammo'
The legendaries arent even cool, im just gonna stick to Hard seeing as that's probably 100%/100% for damagelike skyrim was
[editline]12th March 2016[/editline]
Oh i ser its .75/1.5
Ill take that, at least it feels like my guns shoot fucking bullets
I tried following the Vault Tec Rep to see what would happen in the beginning of the game, since I've been recently inspired by Far Cry 4's alternate finish-the-game-in-15-minutes ending
thankfully, I still wasn't shocked when I just died anyway.

Is there a silent protag mod that doesn't have an awkward silence after selecting an option? I'm trying to make this as much of a pre-4 experience as possible.

I like using the Create Your Own Survival Rebalance Mod and setting it to 300% player damage and 350% NPC damage. It makes you deadly, with headshots being instakills, while the NPCs can eat you up easily.
You can do all of the faction quests that can be accessed before Institutionalized and not suffer any consequences with other factions for sure.
I decided to start doing BOS right after I got to the part in the institute where you [sp]Talk to your son on top of CIT, before telling my son to fuck off[/sp]. Which was funny because the next few quests I had pretty much already done with other factions and had a few sequences where I was just hearing Maxon [sp]screaming in my ear about failing to do X Y an Z for BOS while in the institute before they were prepared to infiltrate the institute. At that point I was already kicked out.[/sp] :v:
I'm happy that i reached a great neutral ending. Recommend you guys to try it, it's amazing.
[sp]When you going to prep for the final fight you can choose to attack with minutemen or railroad. I recommend the minutemen.[/sp]
Meanwhile, in my third play through, I'm 5 hours in, and Dogmeat is still just called 'Dog' on the HUD.
His name won't change if you never ask about him. Though you and other NPCs will still call him Dogmeat.
I don't think you can trigger the dialogue after the Museum mission.

Playing with the minutemen, blowing up the institute and getting all the other factions to get along is my favorite way to handle the storyline.

Get the mod that makes you and AI deal and receive the same amount of damage on Survival, makes it much better.
I'm kind of disappointed with how easy 4 was tho, even starting on Survival and using mods to make the game harder I always found myself stocked up with heaps of Stimpaks and ammo really early in the game. Hell I don't think I ever even bought Stimpaks from traders, unlike all the other Fallout games where I'd be collecting whatever I could to barter for supplies.
I found a really long fence and a gate that, when you enter it, says "you cannot go that way" for the obvious reason that it's the top of the map.
I guess that gate's gonna be a DLC entrance, because otherwise there's no reason for that gate to exist.

Built something at the airport, just now I gotta fill it with stuff.

Hopefully a mod will fix this oversight.

Yeah, I just set it so both I & the AI deal 300% damage. Adds a little bit of challenge & keeps it fair but it's still not exactly a hard game.
Waiting for that proper Survival mode patch so I can do another playthrough
[editline]13th March 2016[/editline]
Speaking of which; is there any news on when it's coming out? Or even the beta patch?
I'm still waiting on new survival, I need the challenge. The nice thing is that it'll be a challenge for the entire game, not just making the early game even more difficult.
I guess it'll also put a lot more hours into a playthrough due to no fast travel, but as long as they pair it with a bunch of new random encounters, then there's no loss here.
My survival hype > DLC hype tbh
I thought maybe my crashing issue was because of a corrupted save, so I started a new game, played for 30 min. or so, no issues.
Soon as I passed the Drumlin Diner, CTD. No warning, no popup after, just gone. Really kind of getting tired of not being able to play this, because I never had these issues before.
I was surprised that Maxson doesn't talk to you after you finish the game with the best minutemen ending (when all factions are cool with it), more so when basically every important npc on the Prydwen does congratulate you.
I would still have loved the ending where you become elder of the brotherhood.
I feel it Would have been the best solution to the "how good should the brotherhood be?" problem, instead of just making them into the imperial Space Marines- you could become elder and set their policy on various issues, so you could reform them into a progressive force or push them even further into zealous fury than maxson did.
It wouldn't be too hard to implement a few dialogue options based on your decisions, and maybe change the roaming brotherhood npcs to include non-feral ghouls/execute ghoul npcs on sight etc. I suppose i just want to become a leader of a faction in a bethesda game where that actually matters and im not just the errand boy that everyone is suddenly calling "sir".

Skyrim had a few similar entrances at the edge of the map that weren't for anything, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's just to add detail to that part of the map.
So cynic nature deviated my thoughts today and I'm half expecting another mothership zeta type DLC for fallout 4 because bethesda loves those aliens so much.
BUT what if they did one in the vein of flash gordon? Complete with war rocket ajax, ming ring and skin-tight suits as far as the eye can see. I'm surprised it hasn't crossed their minds given the time period the original series ran in.

I'm certainly not complaining if they do. I personally think it would be a waste if they didn't seeing as how they redid the alien model for the 'Zetans'. And heck, with the art direction of Fallout 4, I have a feeling an alien-themed DLC would look cool.
