Fallout Thread V26: At least it's not a Nuclear Winter

I didn't even know you could do that. I'll be turning that off from now on.
This may be late, but I've been turning off character lighting in the game for a while so I made a picture to show why.

I've always hated this effect and I don't understand why they shipped with it. Everyone looks like they're covered in vaseline.

It's not aesthetically pleasing and it's not really meant to be, it's purely practical and here to help with readability. Some people can have difficulties reading models (especially on television rather than on a monitor) so they put in this odd sheen to make them easily discernible.
There should still be an option to disable it however, since it's not necessary on most monitors and does look fucking ugly.
Silent Hill 2 did the same thing by the way, every important object, enemy and character would have a small sheen to them so you could easily spot them in an otherwise particularly dark game.
Is there a mod that allows me to noclip objects in build mode?
Is there a mod that allows me to noclip objects in build mode?
Pretty sure there are, but if you want a quick and dirty solution, and If you want to clip through other objects and not geometry, you can use TCL (Toggle Collisions).
Enter TCL into the console and everything you pick up afterwards will lose it's collision when placed until you turn on TCL again, allowing you to intersect objects. Unfortunately you can't pick up anything you removed collisions on until you toggle it again either, so it can be tedious.
I'm surprised the assaultron head gun can't be modded at all, I feel like there's something you could do with it. You could put something like lead plating and an actual grip and trigger on it to reduce or completely eliminate the self-irradiating. It could even be a continuous beam weapon like an actual assaultron head laser, instead of just Laser Musket 2: Pistol Boogaloo, with the receiver mods focusing on the duration of the beam.
I don't know, I feel like the only thing going for it is if you went with the pistol perks, and even then, I'd rather not use a weapon that kills me as I use it. And it's not like the damage is super high or anything to make up for it, it's literally just 5 points of damage lower than a 5-crank laser musket.
I hope you like mediocrity, because I'm practically built out of the stuff.
You're so mean to your poor companions

This doesn't seem to work, likewise with the rug trick that Bethesda patched out.

I was just doing it earlier today, though.
I think the most commonly used mod for what you want is Place Everywhere. It does do a lot more than just what you want, but you don't have to use all of the features.
Aw fuck, all my saves on a specific character are no longer working, and are instantly crashing to desktop when I try to load them. All my saves on other characters are working fine, however.
I swear to god, if all my saves corrupted for some reason I will go ballistic.
So yeah I worked with mattsahuman to get my pipe-shotgun model in the game, unfortunately we had to remove the revolver cylinder because you can't make custom animations currently(?). I had no idea how materials worked in Fallout so its not that grate looking at the moment in my opinion but I've updated it since then and It will probably be released the same time the nerf comes.
Here is a clip of the shotgun with the new materials I'm working on:

I've also started to work on a shorter barrel and a bayonet attachment.

That is a fucking massive shell, imo it would be better fit of a grenade launcher or something.

As far as I'm aware, for a while it was pretty much impossible to add non-replacer weapon animations to Bethesda games. I think people might have worked out how to do it for Skyrim eventually, but there's no telling how well those methods will work with this new version of the engine.
I have had a look at how animations are set up in Fallout 4, though, and it would appear that it should be easier for modders to add them this time around (thanks to all the keywords), but I can't really give any guarantees for that because I've never worked with animations before, and this is one of the parts of the game that's pretty hard to check without the official mod tools. I really hope that it's the case, though, because it opens up a massive amount of modding possibilities.
i have this feeling that homemaker is making my game crash at random
sometimes in my settlement my game just turns off for no reason

IIRC Witcher 3 has it to, and probably a lot of other games.
FO4's is just so fucking strong, though.
It's actually a semi-decent effect if you turn it down to something like 1/10th strength, though. Compensates for the engine's weak specular lighting in dark areas a bit.

Do think this would be good if it was ported?
Do think this would be good if it was ported?
I've thought about it, might try to get it in some time. Got to do some changes to it to make it work in fallout first. I'll figure something out, right now I got to finish the shotgun.
Do robots have have dialogue in main quest missions like the vanilla companions? I really want to venture out with my custom built robots but im reluctant to miss any funny/interesting lines my followers might say.
nobody has picked this up yet (or at least nobody has said they have) and that saddens me

Does anyone else like running around in the Courser outfit? I wish it was a different color, but it's really cool in my opinion.
Which hand is the dominant hand for bots again? I threw a cryo weapon on cumsworth thinking he'd spam scatter laser and he did for like an hour now he's dedicated to freezing everyone.
Are there any mods for alternate starts yet?
try loading a save that works, then loading the broken character maybe?
Tried that, didn't work. Here's some other things I tried:
1. Deleting inis
2. deleting plugins.txt and dlclist.txt from appdata/local
3. Checking game cache
4. Disabled mods (excluding Automation)
Tomorrow I'm going to start a new game and see if it works, download a script editor and go through the saves to see if something's up, update my drivers if there are any updates, and, if worst comes to worst, I'll reinstall the game again / start a new character (which will really fucking suck)
I have no idea how in the hell this happened, all that happened between it working fine to not working was me quicksaving, closing the game, logging out, doing unimportant shit irl, logging in, and opening the game.

It's kinda basic right now and it still requires you to complete the prologue

Yeah I've had it where a few saves have corrupted for no reason at all. Fallout 4's saves seem to be a bit unreliable, especially when mods are involved.
F4SGE would be a good place to start with checking your saves, provided that the game can actually read data from your saves. If you just get the picture but no level/time played, then your save is corruped.
Is there a person or thing around keeping track of FPer mods?
Similarly, who were the people here that were making those slick as fuck Classic APA and .223 Pistol models/what is the status on those?
Is there a person or thing around keeping track of FPer mods?
There was a Google Docs file for it in at least one of the previous threads, but it looks like it wasn't included in the OP of this one.
