I never fast traveled in the first place. Like 400 hours in the game, didn't use it once. I just took a vertibird if I needed to get somewhere fast.
I didn't really either, when I got lazy and just wanted to finish a quest fast I did it. But I felt like I would always see or experience something new walking through the wasteland.
So it looks like in survival if you have empty bottles you can fill them with water. Kinda cool.
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dXXYGSp.jpg[/thumb]
Yeah, to add to this, you can also fill your bottles with purified water if you use a ground water pump at settlements. The industrial water purifiers don't seem to offer the option however.
I only wish you could fill your empty bottles with dirty water a little faster, since there is a speed cap with how often you can do it.
Desperately needs a HUD element for thirst/hunger.
It's the dialogue mod. You probably have an old version of it with outdated strings. Bethesda updated the strings files in the last update to include the lines for Survival, along with some of the backend stuff for mods and DLC.
ok but the survival beta disables all mods anyway?
ok but the survival beta disables all mods anyway?
Including UI mods?
I'm interested in survival mode for my next playthrough but I absolutely need a custom HUD installed because I'm on a 4:3 screen.

yeah, all mods are disabled and they recommend a clean save
it's weird because they ask you to remove all your mods yet they still do it for you, i know this because I went in-game and my save complained that all of my mods were deactivated.
I read on the wiki that you can build a robot with the three mister handy arms and then two robot arms on top of that. Is that true? And if so, how?
Well then let me know when someone recreates survival mode in ESM form because otherwise I literally cannot play it
Thanks Beth.
they'll probably re-enable mods once survival comes out of beta, but until then yeah if you actually need mods in order to play the game then the only option is to opt-out of the beta

oh good, because then someone can recreate Oblivion's old ring of console mod and everything will be just fine
I read on the wiki that you can build a robot with the three mister handy arms and then two robot arms on top of that. Is that true? And if so, how?
The two other arms replace the 2 side eyes.

yeah I'm gonna need a mod that re-enables manual saving because fallout 4 is too unstable to go looking for beds every time i want to save :v:
The two other arms replace the 2 side eyes.
yeah, but they also disable you from using the tesla gun and the flamer on your mister handy arms, so you only get saws and pincers for them
i think there's a mod out there that removes that ??
oh, by the way, eyebots
I don't see them deactivating the console outside of beta, really. I'd wager it's the same thing with mods, they just want proper thorough testing without foreign factors.
I'm very proud of bethesda with this new survival mode and the automatron DLC. Of course, they're the result of a game jam : programmers and designers are just simple people which does what the uppers class of "Lead" order them to do, they have probably little involvement with the storie or how the game's go if not the design for the artist, i think it's very good for bethesda to give them the opportunity to put what they want in the game by the ways of the Game jam, and survival mod & automatron are perfect example of what a employee can do if he was free, in general we don't think much about them but they worked on the game after all and i think they deserve to have a chance to get their personal creation in game.
Of course, not everyone can have their personal creations in game, very disappointed by how many good thing from skyrim game jam haven't been put ingame, but many already in game is pretty nice.
[editline]29th March 2016[/editline]
and i'm looking forward to see more of gamejam related - addon to the game, and maybe a new video about it from bethesda
I don't know why everybody is saying mods are disabled? I can use mods just fine, despite the incompatibility issues with survival mode. I'm guessing the vanilla launcher is disabling mods.
EDIT: It does seem to disable mods... That's kinda lame.

I found this to be extremely stupid. You can build the most powerful robots ever! But giving a Mr.Handy with arms a flamethrower on his legs is to much.
ok but the survival beta disables all mods anyway?
All Bethesda can do with disabling mods is to stop plugins from loading (which has been a thing since the first or second patch if you use the vanilla launcher). That's unless they decided to completely wipe the data folder of all non-Bethesa files, or disable all non-Bethesda approved loose files from loading. Both choices would be pointless to code and would just create a huge and unnecessary backlash from the community. Especially the first one, even if they put the files in a separate folder instead of deleting them. Why would they ask you to remove mods if they were disabling them, anyway?
I don't have the update downloaded myself, but I expect that all loose files mods (like sound, video, texture/model and strings replacements) work without issue, and that any plugin based mods just need to be re-enabled.

ED-E was the best companion in NV, Raul 2nd best.
Also, I wonder if companions can die in survival...

Loose files do work, but plugin based mods can't be used at all. I've got them enabled in NMM but they aren't loaded by the game it seems.

I liked having cass and ED-E with me
nah, companions can't really "die" on survival, they just don't reanimate : if they're down and you don't heal them with stimpack they just go home (the menus for sending a companion to a settlement appears)
Oh my god, seriously? They just get up and go home? FFS Todd. What is this shit?
Oh my god, seriously? They just get up and go home? FFS Todd. What is this shit?
Fun fact: If you make Dogmeat unessential and kill him the game can't be completed, the quest Getting a Clue won't start because Dogmeat has to be alive for it to trigger. That's why Dogmeat can't die, even in survival, because of that stupid part of the story.

I'd rather have that than my companion jumping off a bridge trying to get on a lift, or getting instagibbed by a molotov or poison attack.
I feel like the whole "can't save unless you use a bed" is poorly thought, there's so many things that can just instagib you or just being prone to crashing, I feel like saving should always be left to the player's discretion in Bethesda games.
IIRC there was stuff in the base game at launch with 'gamejam' in the file structure, so some Game Jam things actually did make it in at launch.

Only if you abandon them. You can still heal them with stims like normal.
Also some are needed for quests.

Personally, I think if they left the bed saving system as hard saves only it'd be good. Completely turning off autosaves is beyond dumb, though.

Very proud of this screenshot, great timing on it.
