Fallout Thread V26: At least it's not a Nuclear Winter
You guys probably don't much care for it, but i got really bored and tried re-skinning that one female bobble-head mod to be more like the Nuka-Cola Girl, from the bus stops and calendars all over the world:
pics
[sp]If i knew anything about actually modding the game, i'd probably try to give it a custom stand/base, and implement 2-3 of them into the game as rare prizes from Nuka Vending machines that give bonuses similar to the bobble-heads. But for it to be a proper thing it needs alot of work like custom normals, model edits, and new poses and i dont know how to do any of that shit.[/sp]
Should replace the Vault-Tec text with Nuka-Cola.
and you can clearly see it in every single dialogs "What is a ghoul?" "What is a deathclaw?" "What is.." so the casual who never played any fallout before can get into the games.
No, I'm pretty sure that's because your character is pre-war and has literally no way of knowing what any of this shit is, not some plot to appeal to the "casual market"
It represents already too much of how fallout has been cut to please the casual market so casual can say "Whoa! He survived 200 year IN A FRIDGE? Well he's a ghoul so yeah" and you can clearly see it in every single dialogs "What is a ghoul?" "What is a deathclaw?" "What is.." so the casual who never played any fallout before can get into the games. I dislike when a second episode have to make obvious reference to the old games to explain the first movie for the ones that never saw them, just see the previous movie and don't bore me with your obvious references..
In New Vegas you can ask what the NCR is even though you're from the NCR and they're literally everywhere. Could be amnesia, but that'd be one hell of a thing to forget your home country.

but is it normal to have those question everytime in game? One time i can understand, but then it's ridiculous how you can still ask this when you already asked it + already fought one.

P sure that's just Bethesda brand jank.
Considering you can go pretty much anywhere any time, they needed to account for you asking what a ghoul is at any possible time before you actually encounter them. And then they just didn't account for any situations in which you already know because changing each individual instance where you can ask that would be a lot more effort.
So instead of creating new dialogue options for when you already know what a ghoul is, they just kept the questions in. It's lame, but it's how it is.
New Vegas wasn't appealing to the casual market when you asked what the NCR is, what Hoover Dam is, and basically everything else you can ask in Goodsprings and is common knowledge in-universe, it was accounting for the fact that you got shot in the fucking head and probably can't remember jack shit.
Survival games where the minute to minute gameplay is trying to survive? That's tense and interesting. Games where every 30 minutes you start dying of dehydration while you're trying to do other shit? That's just annoying.
I think Beth is probably going more for the "you're doing other shit when suddenly it occurs to you 'y'know i'm kinda thirsty'" approach
a.k.a. NV hardcore mode

Except for the tweets/formspring answers from J.E. Sawyer and everyone else that explicitly said the Courier does in fact remember who the NCR is and that question is just there for people who've never played the classic Fallouts.
You should be able to deploy a sleeping bag in areas as long as there are no enemies around. I was walking all the way to diamond city on a new run from sanctuary and got killed on 1 shot by a raider right when I crossed the bridge into the city :suicide:
Also am I the only one that can't stand survival modes in games at all?, maybe if the game worked in real time, but I usually just feel needing to eat drink and sleep is an annoyance that gets in the way of whatever im currently trying to do, rather than feeling like an actual desperate need that drives my character. and as mentioned by other posters, not being able to save at will in a bethesda game is a recipe for disaster, "load an earlier save and maybe it will work" is almost a necessity for beating every quest in the game.
I'm not saying FO4 survival is going to work out the best, but eating/drinking/sleeping doesn't have to stop you, or get in the way of anything.
If your character is sleep deprived, starving like a motherfucker and riddled with diseases, thus making play challenging, then that's how it is, and it's your (current) RP in the game.
At least in Skyrim, I enjoyed the shit out of it, giving myself all kinda challenges. (Here's hoping they will make forced eating and drinking animations for Fallout 4, even if like the Stimpak animation.)
While portable bed would be neato what about portable "romantic companion" that is x3 size comfy pillow with Preston on it.

You can't sleep yet, there are monsters nearby :v:

A Large Fur Tent.
That's how my Orc gang in Skyrim rolled.
The only reason we'd go to an innhouse is to raid it from all their alcohol and foods, then be driven away by angry guards and citizens.

The first texture mod for this (ignoring Nexus waifu shit) would be Fisto.
And I might install it.

Fooook, can't get that guide to work on fixing missing/bugged quests. Going to try contacting the guy who made it now to see if he can help.
At this point I'm more interested in fixing the quest than doing the BoS ending, something I've yet to experience. But I have a feeling that the BoS being bugged will break other endings for me, like the Minutemen.
turned Outpost Zimonja into, well, an outpost

Each settler has the gear that Nate wears in the intro cinematic (but the arms are Sturdy, not Heavy, because those look weird in game), a .45 M1911 service pistol, and a service rifle; either a combat rifle, Thompson, or M14. there are three T-51d Power Armor units carrying miniguns. still on the fence about whether they should have Military paint or not. the bunker holds a small office and comms room, and an armory/Power Armor maintenance room.
which reminds me: i wonder at what point in development did the heavy combat armor shoulderpads go from this to this? (ignore color)
they look really awkward on anything but a super-thin piece of clothing like the vault suit or brotherhood uniform. i wish someone would make a mesh edit that just cranks the shoulderpads in toward the neck.
Been playing survival for about 10 hours now. I sleep in sanctuary, I wanted to go all the way to diamond city, this takes about 3 hours, I explore and find things, complete a few dungeons. find the brotherhood distress call, approach the police station and get insta killed by a ghoul that came up behind me.
I didn't save once.
:hammered:

I give you a quest:
Make it so that your [DEL]settlers[/DEL] SOLDIERS don't have to do any farming by themselves, but instead are being provided for by another settlement producing excess food. Then you also appreciate your caravan cow more.
Oh ok, if you start a character on survival, you can lower the difficulty if you find it to hard, but you can't put it back up to survival later.

Was half expecting you to go into a detailed description about the settlement's "Slave Caste" that toils all day in the fields and sleeps in gated concentration camp-esque shacks.

What mods are you using to make the grass look like that? I tried getting that seasons mod but it just all my grass look puke yellow
I've discovered how easy jet is to make, and I've been trading it for everything, caps building mats and ammo
I have become the wastelands biggest drug dealer
So i was kinda non-nonchalantly building a little desk/office for my character, as soon as i placed one of those little mixed-robot models on the desk, my robot companion wheeled up to the window and i realized something funny:

Apparently i had coincidentally made my robot look like one of the mis-matched robot models. Go Figure.
[sp]also it thoroughly amuses me that the toy robots are based off of the previous installment's models instead of the new ones.[/sp]
The texture for the robot models box is poster in a military bunker. :v:
Tried out survival. I was doing incredibly well, no deaths- even after concord.
After preston's quest, I went into concord civic access, as outdoors my game was stuttering badly. I thought changing cells would fix it (It did).
Molerats soon spawned near me, and the game began to stutter again, and I got bit a few times as a result, and my wound became infected.
You need chemistry rank 1 to make the cure(and I do not have it), and I'm only 40% way to level 6.
I regret cleaning up my Sanctuary Home, there are props I can't get back like the fridge or oven or even Shauns crib which was quite unique.
