Fallout Thread V26: At least it's not a Nuclear Winter

I've just finished Fallout: New Vegas with the quest No Gods, No Masters with me [sp]asking Yes Man to activate the upgraded securitron army below the Fort, convincing the Legate to stand down without a fight and basically telling general Olliver to suck it up[/sp]
This exchange was my personal highlight from the whole experience

Thing is, I'm DEFINITELY in the mood for Fallout 3 (moreso after someone told me that a mod such as A tale of two wastelands exists), but I'm too worried my Windows 10 won't allow me to play it
Would I be better off buying the GoT edition for the PS3?
Even though I haven't beaten the game yet, the Minutemen always seemed like the best option to me. They have no ideology or anything they want to force on the Commonwealth, they just want it to be a peaceful place to live.
I've been told the Minutemen are the best choice for a free, settlements need your help General, type of Wasteland. I just [sp] didn't want to disappoint my dad. I mean my son. I think [/sp]

windows 10 will let you play it, ive never had a single issue with FO3
that being said, play TTW
So, let me get this straight: A tale of two wastelands allow you to start up Fallout 3 from your New Vegas executable, giving the former all the assets from the latter, as well as its mods? Should I also install any useful mods for Fallout 3 too?

The mods aren't automatically compatible. You'll need to use TTW compatible mods.
Minor mods should work, but the complete insane level of hackery and jury rigging that makes the games work seamlessly would cause larger ones to break.
Be wary about doing it though because it can go wrong, I mean

[sp]The very moment I came up with my whole scheme, I figured out my new state could benefit from, at the very least, a cold relationship with the NCR, given they are actually effective at bringing order to areas when they apply themselves and that many people in the Mojave hold them in great respect. I even did several NCR missions to benefit them, sabotaging their efforts as I saw fit, however (I didn't urge the Brotherhood to help them and let the president die, for instance[/sp]

Isn't that more harmful for your plans though? [sp]If I recall correctly Mr House and Yes Man have you save the president because there's a high chance the blame for his death will land on New Vegas.[/sp]
Nowadays I only play NV as a cynical fucking asshole who's tired of the Mojave's shit and whose plan is basically to just murder the fuck out of benny, drop the platinum chip in a ditch and get the fuck out of the desert, ignoring any and all political drama.
great isn't it, that nv allows for either that "cynical fucking asshole" or going full political drama, or even something in between
aint that just a kick in the head
Fallout 4 allows the same thing, since that's also been my last Fallout 4 run.
Ignored shaun entirely, never mentioned the fucker, went to find Kellogg, turned him into thin red paste with a minigun, and then promptly ignored the institute for the rest of the game, instead taking on a post-apocalyptic form of retirement by building houses and chilling in Diamond City.
And to be fair, neither games actually allow you to finish the main quest with a character who doesn't care, you have to eventually give up on the MQ if you want to keep going down that road.
I've been playing my survival run in just a vault suit, while using the vault 10mm and security baton. Difficult, yet fun.
In New Vegas, I always liked siding with Mr. House because I actually liked him and what he was looking to accomplish, that and he actually had the means to do what he was saying.
In Fallout 4 though, [sp]I don't believe that The Institute are humanity's best hope for a future when they're annoying shit heads and replace random people on the surface so they can better study them, like seriously they're not in a fucking Petri Dish to be examined under your Microscope, fuck off, and also how they are with the Synths and their bullshit attitude about them actually developing their own personalities and shit, about how they're like nope, they're tools to be used by us, we created them, they do as we say or they get destroyed.[/sp]
[sp]The Institute treat people as things. Especially Shaun.[/sp]

my only issue is that i dont have the console so i cant disable the turrets/setownership all of the items, but yolo i guess ill deal with it

[sp]But not on me or my associates specifically. And as I said, I wanted the NCR functional, but not too functional, as in reaching a position to actually threten me[/sp]

How is this even fixed anyway? I'm almost certain I've done some solutions to remedy this issue, but it ended up surprising me come time to venture to the Citadel, and afterward I just lost my interest in playing TTW.
i was wondering why the first time I used melee I wasn't having as much fun with the super sledge as I remember
there should be certain melee weapons that break through blocks and some that deal reduced damage on blocks IMO
being able to block a rocket-powered sledgehammer with your bare forearm and not at the very least cripple an arm is bullshit
You know, I swear I remember some loading screen tip saying that some weapons can deal more damage through blocks. It's definitely weird that there isn't really a way to counter the constant blocking done by unarmed super mutants, but at the same time, it is very easy to just overwhelm them by using the melee-cancel trick to hit them faster than they can block, but I can definitely agree it shouldn't be necessary, since blocking a rocket sledgehammer with your hands should shatter your arms at some point.

There's a simple fix for it somewhere on the forums that I found myself having to use frequently whenever I'd reinstall TTW. I'm surprised it hasn't been fixed yet.

just get xliveless or whatever the equivalent is for FO3.
Noticed that the prototype sentry bot in the junkyard now actually works, though to be fair I haven't checked it for many patches beforehand. Does Automatron make it any more interesting, or does it just still go to one of the four locations you command it to and kill whatever's there?
they should make a perk where the max level makes your opponent's forearms explode into gore whenever they try to block one of your melee attacks
hell, add it to big leagues because head batting never works anyways
Fuck yes, if there was a perk that gave you like a 10% chance to instantly kill a blocking enemy with a power attack by making their arms explode that would be hype as shit
I liked it back in Oblivion where trying to block a blade with your fists would basically cut your hands.
Like good job, dumbass, what were you expecting
I liked it back in Oblivion where trying to block a blade with your fists would basically cut your hands.

One anoying thing about it though, was sometimes the enemy blocking you could cause your weapon to recoil...
Imagine, a huge, solid 48 pound daedric warhammer slamming into a woodelf's raised bare arms (to block it) only to have it be deflected.
They'd take full damage, aye, but it was still silly.
I don't think it's possible to specifically have blade attacks bounce off with unarmed blocks, although I may be wrong.
The Fallout 4 system so far is my favorite, the blocking is the only issue with it and VATS is here to circumvent it anyway.
At least in 4 you can't just hold your block up forever, I always hated that about the blocking in the Elder Scrolls without a shield
walks away with hands raised over his face "die you mangy housecat"
It's getting really annoying having my rocket powered sledgehammer be blocked by someone's pinky finger. What the fuck.
Is it bad if I have never beat FO:NV with a ending besides going alone with Yes Man or with Mr. House?
I have never done the NCR/Legion endings.
I feel the institutes "WE ARE THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY!" shit would be a lot less laughable if [sp]there were more than 60 people down there.[/sp]
The way [sp] farther speaks about it[/sp], it really does just sound like he means the "future of humanity" in the sense that soon everything else will die and their little isolated vault will be all that's left. Seriously, it sounds like they have absolutely no plan to ever leave the basement and start rebuilding or improving the world above.
So while a whole bunch of functioning, sustainable societies and cultures have risen up on the west coast and begun to interact with one another, (with varying degrees of civility and long term viability): the so called FUTURE OF HUMANITY is going to sit underground doing nothing productive- just doing weird science experiments on random people, or making amazing advances in technology with no thought for possible applications and ramifications of what they are doing, for the rest of forever?.
The NCR has established a standing army, a functioning economy, a genuine close to old world government, and many peaceful, democratic provinces with something awfully close to the rule of law- and you guys [sp] made a shiny bunker and some robot gorillas. [/sp] wow! colour me impressed!.
Can't tell if it's just Ego or bad writing. Now I'm getting déjà vu.
