No, they don't; it's just a progression system. The things listed after others are usually either more specialized or extreme versions of what comes before them, and for whatever reason the devs want you to buy that other thing first. I don't particularly mind, but it's annoying how you can't even test out things in the crafting area until you have whatever's directly before them, even if you don't have enough Blutes to buy 'em anyway. It's also fairly annoying that the same upgrade doesn't carry over between weapon types: a.k.a. if you buy a sniper barrel in the rifle weapon tree, you can't use it on your pulse weapon later. I sorta get the reasoning behind that, but getting Blutes is such a slow process as it is that it just feels like padding.[/QUOTE]

I remember when I just started and completely destroyed everyone because I actually played an FPS before, now from killing clueless people, the game pairs me up with people that spend all fucking day on the game and use insanely overpowered shit

Game needs more balance than u think. Sniper and rocket launchers are the most dominant in this game.
Like any other F2P games, people will always go for OP stuff... Even if game gives you a lot to offer.
Shame, game could be better without super high mobility.
So, the straight upgrades still exist, that's unfortunate.

So what are you losing to?
Weapons or better players? I'm lvl 12 and i've been able to do just fine against people who have been playing since the beta. I only have 2 parts upgraded so far. None of the weapons really give me any problems except weapons with pyro, but the damage they put out at first is so weak that i'm able to kill them before they kill me.
I don't think a game can be defined as unfun just because you're getting matched against people who have figured out a loadout that works for their playstyle.
The problem is that loadout is almost always "shield+sniper rifle/beam gun."

shotguns are underpowered, beams are overpowered. i think that if they fix those two things we might get to see some more variety

Agreed. Beams should stay the way they are currently but have a finite range. It would be interesting to have the sniper barrel increase the range of the beam if the above ends up happening as well.

This is snipers in nearly every game ever. They're broken as fuck in good hands and completely useless for everyone else. This idea that snipers belong in every single FPS game really is a mistake.
i unlocked shields and to me they feel like a waste of money. it adds like, 3 hp. or that's what it feels like.
Shotguns aren't underpowered, they are just balanced.
Pulse shotgun with tight spread can 2-3 hit people
I feel like if I kill someone with a shotgun, it's due to skill. With a laser weapon? I feel like I'm just ramming my fist up their ass

Yeah I think the removal of shields will make the game faster paced and more fun. Right now it feels like you pretty much need an electric gun.
Shields should be turned into
a. flat hp increase(doesn't regen). You trade a grenade for 30 hp.
b. Regen when out of combat. You trade a grenade for less reliability on health packs.
c. % chance to dodge a source of damage. Could be bad or good depending on % chance.

Y'know what I think? I think the charge trigger needs to be buffed. Right now you don't get any benefit from a partial charge, the charged shot is barely more powerful than normal shots in faster-firing weapons, and it eats up way too much beam heat (and it heats up even when charging, making partial shots not only useless but [i]detrimental.[/i]) They need to make the charge longer, make max-charge shots [i]much[/i] more powerful, and still let partial-charge shots have an effect.

This game's great. Downloaded it yesterday and played for a couple of hours in total.
Played a couple of rounds and it seemed like I was the only one capable of reading. It VERY CLEARLY tells you what to do in different modes and maps, so in 5-10 seconds I knew exactly what to do.
We won several matches of Extraction because I was able to just jump around one grinder and collect blutonium in peace without anyone even trying to shoot at me. I was either doing that or chasing the other teams collector and it was enough to warrant a victory 100% of the time.
Death Snatch was the same, everyone just killed without collecting the vials.
It seems that Jackhammer was the only mode in which everyone managed to grasp the concept of. And I've yet to see anyone who DIDN'T know that the hammer instakills. I guess it's a reflex to try to shoot when you see an enemy, that's how I learned about it. :v:
Blitz is kind of between those. There was always someone at the point, though it was usually 1-2 and everyone else just DM'd somewhere else.
It's a very fun game. I'll try it for perhaps a week and then give the developers 20€ by buying in-game cash if I still enjoy it as immensely.
Yeah I can definitely see myself playing this for a long time so I'm most def going to throw the devs $40.
