Calling that pistol balanced is hilarious to me.[/QUOTE] i don't know anyone with a 2 second reaction time...... that's ridiculously slow the only good point of the smart pistol is that you can lock on while sprinting / maneuvering / cloaked so it's much easier to get surprise kills
how does the titan countdown actually work? like is it x seconds off for every kill or something

I'm more than fine going with my carbine, killing 2 people, one as a first blood, rape through all minions along the way, as they take 1 or 2 bullets to die (except Spectres). I must have been doing it all wrong all the time, having this "First to Fall" in 8/10 games I have played up to this date. How silly me. Now I need to focus on PvE while totally lowering my versatility at battlefield, due to using an inferior weapon. It may be good for controllers, but for someone who can actually aim, the difference of 1 second in clearing a whole wave of minions is not a big deal. So I just downloaded this game and it freezes on startup after loading, has this happened to anyone else here?

If it's an error, I have it sometimes. Starting game like 3-4 times fixes it somehow.
Nevermind works now, just had to wait a really long ass time.

is it possible to reduce the would-be cooldown while your titan is deployed? I could swear I've had times where my titan is ready like 15 seconds after it's destroyed

The smart pistol really isn't as big a deal as its made out to be. Its great for cleaning up grunts, but nothing special against players. A pilot with good aim and any other gun will beat a smart pistol in a direct confrontation. The smart pistol really only dominates pilots who can't hit a fast-moving/freerunning target, because it allows you to lock on while avoiding their fire. But if the other pilot can pick you off while wall running, they'll kill you before you can establish a lock.

Most people check corners and common areas for contestants, so they will probably not see you if you hang.

I think due the it's movement system and added verticality, Titanfall's as close to those games as a CoD-style twitch shooter can get, but all-in-all, they're very different style of twitch shooter. I think it's silly to say they're alike. But the other stuff (CoD shooting, Mirror's Edge movement, and MOBA-style minions) is all there.
