I've been testing out some options for NPC movement in HL2, and this is what I've got for the Combine Soldier. This map that showcases some movement options for the Combine Soldier, including rappelling down walls, jumping over gaps, and crouch-walking under obstacles.

I didn't mean like those little tug boats laying around, I meant ships. The map was the removed coast map someone mentioned earlier. It wasn't anywhere near complete, just a road over the water with 2 partially sunk ships. I'd get a screenshot, but I don't know where the hell Steam has it stored, and I don't remember the map name or feel like finding it in the [I]massive[/I] mess of unorganized map folders. The ships were roughly the size of the Borealis and used the same textures, although they were very basic and had no interior or detail, just size and shape.

I did go visit [I]d1_under0102bbbbbbbb[/I] though, turned out to be a [I]very[/I] early version of the map where you run from the first Hunter Chopper and hide in the little sewer area. Neat how different it was, and how old that part of the map really is (it features a wrecked [url=http://combineoverwiki.net/images/e/ef/School_Bus_brush.jpg]bus[/url]).

It's very interesting to see how the Soldiers were programmed and how they work. I've never seen the soldiers use that crouch feature before.

Makes sense, it looks like it has to be scripted in depth, meaning it's not like they can easily follow the player into a crouched space. Some of the best combine tactics are in Minerva Metastasis, and that doesn't have a ton done for pre-scripted combine movements; it's all about layout and "delivering" combine into the arena.

This is possibly a little out of left field, but I'm curious and in a reading mood. Does anyone know of a well-written fan continuation of Half-Life? So Portal 2 just got a 17.6 MB update, anyone know what was in it?

When you're a Half-life fan, always expect the least out of Valve so if there's a Half-life 3 evidence/rumor going around and it turns out to be false/irrelevant, then you won't be as sad if you get your hopes up. If it is true and Half-life 3 is announced the next day/week, then you'll be even more happy than if you got your hopes up.
Brother had to remind me that Half-Life exists. Binge playing them all again. Finished HL2 in a day.
Now skimming through this thread from latest page to oldest searching for any mention of HL3.
I did not ask for this emptyness to come back into my life.

At least Portal 2 got rid of its "Cake is a lie" jokes. Oh yeah, for those who watch the CSGO Dreamhack tournament, there were people holding signs with "We still want Half Life 3 GabeN!" written on them.
Well I mean, they're not wrong. I want HL3, but I'm not waiting for it anymore. It'll come when it does, but I won't be waiting until they tell us when.

I've had the PS2 version since 2011 and I have still never beat it or Decay once while I've played through the PC version a few times.

"Cake is a lie" was supposed to be an eerie metaphor, meant to try to unnerve you, GLaDOS saying "no, no, we won't kill you" while hovering over the neurotoxin button. Then the community shat all fucking over it turning it into a forced meme that's funny because they say so.
At least combustible lemons was the writers trying to be funny.

And it caught on. To an annoying degree, tbh, but it's a lot more tolertable than "cake is a lie." I can see why combustible lemons was funny. "Cake is a lie" never had a reason to be funny.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. My first impression The new textures are pretty Meh and the lighting is very bland at times, the new weapon models look nice despite having bland, cubemapless textures, in fact I feel there is a lacking amount of reflective surfaces in general. In terms of level design im sick already sick of walking into a room having the door lock and having to kill/witness something so the door will open and there has been lots of times where you need to walk into nondescript areas that look of little importance so doc will tell you some thing and then open a door. And finally having to hold right mouse to see your cross hair is fucking stupid.
Although im only on Chapter 3 so I hope it gets any better.
