How much do you want to bet Valve forgot like last year?
I always liked the idea of Gman dumping Adrian into the 7 hour war, it's aftermath, and the early days of the resistance.
I don't see why Gman would drop Adrian into 7 hour war, he already admitted that he put Gordon into stasis because he wouldn't have been able to repel the Combine invasion and was too valuable asset and considering Adrian is pretty much on par with Gordon (gameplay wise at the very least) after they both survived Black Mesa incident, I'd say he got the same treatment as Gordon aka dropped in stasis for later use.
On another note, I've been brewing a theory in mind.
Gman caused the Portal Storms and Combine invasion to happen to get the best fighters/soldiers/combatants of human race to use them on fitting situations. Imagine Gman observing the hardiest survivors of Portal Storms and took them away, so they could be used later. Imagine Gman dropping them out of stasis in places where they would allow the humans revolt against the Combine forces. I mean, this is pretty much what happened to Gordon, who's to say this wasn't done to multiple persons?

Considering the Gman had no issue putting Gordon back into stasis after he killed Breen and sent the reactor critical I'm not sure he has any real interest in helping humanity revolt. I imagine he's just out for people for an overall anti-combine agenda.

I could see Gman dropping Adrian in as a tool during and post the 7 hour war, ensuring the safety of key "personnel" Gordon would later need.

They did.
I'm sure they didn't forget, they just plain don't care.

yes, everyone has this issue. It's caused by how outdated the map is and the water shader used in the map.

you've probably already updated the drivers but uh
that seems like that 'new' card is shitting the bed already

or maybe what theuaredead said, i dunno
valve is the only company i've ever known that creates bugs that literally simulate a dead graphic card.

This is just beyond crazy.
so eh i found .bcs files for combine voice edits, but i can't use them in a demo version of batch converter
is there a free program to use it, or perhaps a way to use it in audacity??

.bcs? Could you share it and if its not too much to show an example or two?
u can find .bcs files in your hl2_sound_misc_dir.vpk in ur hl2 folder, in sound/test/overwatch batch converters
idek how they work and i cant find a working batch converter let alone sound forge build lol

I managed to find some ancient version of the program and tested the batch files. Sadly, all they do is make a noise sound like it's being transmitted through a radio, and it isn't even that great of a radio effect. The best bet for getting a combine voice is probably somewhere between pitch-shifting and playing around with the sound ranges. I haven't had much luck with it though.
I remember reading somewhere that the original source sounds were recorded from a cheap walkie-talkie, maybe that would be a good starting ground?
Ah, the Nightmare house 2015 has the something special on special thanks:
Steampipe update, for breaking the game and ruining my weekends
So I went on a Hl2 mod downloading spree a few days ago and started looking for servers on some of the mods I used to play a whole lot.
I expected at least a few players on the mods that are available through steam, but Dystopia and Neotokyo only had a few empty servers,
and Eternal Silence was totally dead. The only mods that still had players were Synergy and Empires. I know it was inevitable, but seeing
so few players makes me really depressed. I spent a good portion of my childhood playing hl2 and its mods; for nearly five years they were
nearly all I played, and I made some of my only friends playing them.
After playing some synergy with a bunch of Russians, I remembered that there was a better coop mod (Obsidian Conflict) and went and got
it. There were a few players, but HOLY. SHIT. that main menu music! Its a remix of Triage at Dawn (one my favorite hl2 songs). I
don't remember it from last time I played the mod, and after some searching I found that its called That Long Train Ride, and is often
incorrectly attributed to the hl2 leak under the name Path of the Borealis.

And there's a rock version too!

I've been listening to these for the last few days constantly. I can't stop. help.
I then went and downloaded Minerva. I honestly had never actually played it, and playing through it for the first time made me almost cry.
Its so damn good, but it left me with a renewed longing for hl3. Its been ten years since I played hl2 for the first time. Ten years is a long time.
Long enough to begin to come to terms with the fact that hl3 is never coming. Long enough to forget how things used to be. But I haven't
forgotten. I still remember how freedom felt. I remember the awe of setting foot in C17 for the first time, seeing the citadel piercing sky. I
remember walking through a world that seemed so real to me, I could almost taste the air.
Curse you Gabe! Rather than finish the greatest game that was ever made, you choose to exploit the vanity of the proud and foolish to line your
pockets. Money and success corrupted you, and now all you care about is how you can maximize your profits. You don't care that hl3 would make
boatloads of money, you want to make games where people continually spend more and more money on imaginary objects to make themselves
feel greater than others. You would even twist the modding community, the one pure thing still left, to fuel your greed. You have destroyed so many of my hopes
and dreams. Have you created even one thing in the past eight years that hasn't been centered around capitalizing on ego of your customers? One
thing that will not be looked back upon by players as sinkhole that tricked them out of their money for a false sense of superiority?
I thought not.

There's an OC thread here on FP that was made awhile ago, if you want to play with us when we do events (Every Saturday so far)

Dystopia still have some players, you just have to subscribe to right steam groups
NeoTokyo has players everytime they make an event, make sure you suscribe to their group too.
Wish Eternal Silence had players, ship combat in that game was pretty fun
You could check out Angels Fall First, it is kinda similar to ES, but it is a bit weird in places yet, it still is early access.
new valvetime video detailing more images of hl2 episode 4

this makes me wonder: what was the storyline of episode 4 going to be? what was changed after episode 2's events? because episode 3 leaves a large gap in the storyline between episode 4 and 2, you can't help but wonder more about episode 4 based off of the tiny bit of information that was managed to be scrounged up.

Is there no project to bring HL:S to the most recent Source? Like 2013 SP, not even ASW

I don't recall them ever releasing source code for HL:S. While it is kinda of the same, Valve did change up some AI for it, but you could just use the goldsrc code, IF that's possible.

It leaked along with TF2's a couple of years ago
IIRC there is some fan project to remake opposing forces in the same vain as HL:S based on that source code

I'm pretty sure "episode 4" was just a WIP joke title by Arkane, the only thing we really know is that it was HL related.

See I wonder of it maybe wasn't going to be related to HL at all. Perhaps Valve's inital forray with zombies was to be a spooky slow shooter which they gave to Arkane. They came up with L4D and decided to scrap this project. It's possible the No Mercy campaign stems from this project as it seems a hospital was one of the locations for this game. Ravenholm isn't the type of place to feature a "nice" hospital. Perhaps the title Return to Ravenholm was more metaphorical, as in returning to the ideas behind Ravenholm, slow, scary, full of zombies...

From the leaked resume of Sebastien Scieux (he was a technical director at Arkane Studios at the time):
Half-Life 2: Episode Four (postponed) (2006 - 2007). Valve approached Arkane Studios to help develop a sequel to the critically acclaimed Half-Life episodes. We worked on this franchise for a full year before Valve decided to put their episodic efforts on hold.

The development of Left 4 Dead began in 2004, right after they shipped Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (see "The Making of Left 4 Dead" article by Jamie Russell on August 2011 issue of Edge magazine).
