He was the one who made the thread, but he got the slides from ekim.
Really? Got a source on that? Cause I didn't know, and I'd not mind being enlightened.
Really? Got a source on that? Cause I didn't know, and I'd not mind being enlightened.
the slide pic was from ekim's dropbox.
Really? Got a source on that? Cause I didn't know, and I'd not mind being enlightened.
I was there when it all happened. CBoaT made the thread. The Powerpoint in his pic was set to Germany, which made some people speculate if he's from there. Later ekim showed up and started crosslinking the other leaks from ValveTime which included the other pic, a mention that the ppt is from 2011 and that the filelist pic (which was first posted here then linked on GAF) was real. xPaw from SteamDB started digging and found out that the leaker on ValveTime is from Germany and he got his stuff from a dropbox account (to which the ppt by CBoaT also originated from) owned by a user named.... ekim. So, he connected the dots and shared it on GAF to which ekim ackowledged it. The mods deleted this whole exchange, so you can't find it. Afterwards a couple of user wondered if he's been CBoaT all along, but he made a thread saying he's not and he's sorry and he's been in touch with Valve after the incident.

change thread name to v2
I'm realitivly positive this is the case. Anyone who has ever dealt with any sort of digital project, weather it be a program or a game or a series of excel sheets, knows that often times what you name your files isn't actually what the files really are. This isn't being lazy, this is just something like a 'Telephone effect' where by the reuse and abandonment of individual aspects combined with a fluctuating scope of the project can lead to "dumbCode.h" being the file that all of your other code references, making it impractical to rename it. Also: Yall need to chill when it comes to Half Life 3. Like I'm cool with any single player Valve game getting made, but I'm getting the vibe that if you guys don't get your arbitrarily sequel next this thread is going filled with butthurt.
You're right. I suppose it's not like Valve left the series on a cliffhanger with no plot resolution and hasn't said a word in close to a decade. The Universal Union Overwatch's Transhuman-branch finally give RPG training. Made entirely in Hammer. The actual NPC with the rocket launcher can move around and throw grenades and stuff, it just doesn't because I was too lazy and didn't node the raised section of the map.
Could you provide a vmf of this?
Sure, I'll upload it on Gamebanana or something.

I did it on one of my maps. It also works with getting the pistol animations so you can make them use the pistol/.357. I also remember an old bug of the friendly rebels getting your crowbar sometimes and getting into a T-pose. I bet that if you give to them the stunstick animations, they would be able to use it.
half-life is the seinfeld of video games
Now I'm picturing some humorous skit with Magnusson and Kleiner sitting in the dining area after Gordon explodes the casserole.
What's the big deal with headcrabs?
What's the big deal with headcrabs?
I know right? And the combine's delivery method is questionable at best. I mean, I didn't even place an order for them, but I got an express delivery via metal canister right through the roof of my house.
What's the big deal with headcrabs?
They are crabs that ride on your head
So I'm pushing in this Xen crystal, and the whole system goes crazy, which, if you ask me, is a serious lack of responsibility from the guys running the thing. I coulda been killed, and they tell me that what happened was in "acceptable boundaries"! I tell ya, there's gonna be some acceptable boundaries next time I see those lunatics.
Would you guys be mad if HL3 deviated at all from a completely linear experience? Would it no longer be a half-life game if it was anything but what half-life 1 and 2 have been (linear path with scripted day time night time for specific parts of the game, all enemy encounters being completely scripted and specifically placed. The illusion of a larger would from the view that the player.) Should Valve not prioritize trying to innovate the "meta-game" of half-life and just concentrate on providing another solid (familiar) game?
Gordon needs feet.
Depends just how much they deviate. Like some people speculate it's taking so long because they're trying to completely transform into something that fits their current focus and trends more. So, stuff like Destiny, Borderlands, L4D elements etc But people will probably complain anyway, regardless of the changes or not. Like, if Gordon stays silent and is still a floating camera some will go "outdated", others will go "true to the series!". Is it going to have ADS, RPG-lite elements with upgrades, crafting or stealth etc like in so many other games? Some will go "they sold out!" others will go "about time!". I just want it to be officially announced and revealed and will go from there lol But as far as "opening up" goes, they kinda started it already with the Strider-Hunter battle in Ep2.

I had a dream I was a civilian in City 17, and I didn't have the gravity gun so I was catching hoppers with my hands. :v:

The universe of Half-Life is extremely interesting and I believe it deserves to be fleshed out and experienced by players in a more open and free way. So far, our experience of the Half-life universe has been specifically tailored, scene by scene, to show us exactly what Valve wants to show us. To me, expanding on what half-life is, may mean going for a an open-world environment. I don't want an rpg game though (complex inventory systems, crafting, leveling-up, gaining new abilities, etc.) but I do want to feel like I actually have a world to explore and not just another loading point to get to. Valve has shown us that they are all-for giving the player more control. The rebel party system near the end of HL2, Highway 17 with the buggy, and the ending of episode 2 gave us the control in how to tackle the next objective, and it was awesome. They could even go the Destiny route and have smaller more traditional style levels that are linked together by a larger world. I imagine that this idea could sound completely unappealing to a lot of fans, but I strongly feel that if HL3 is going to be ground breaking, it's gonna have to be a different game than HL1&2. Different in the right ways, but what are the right ways?
