Point of View and Azure Sheep are pretty sweet mods, I also love how they cross over into each other.
My dad had a disk of HL Mods, one of which was PoV, way later I learned about Azure Sheep and the whole crossover. I've played PoV way more, but Azure Sheep was very cool. Are there any mods that are focused on Xen and/or do it well?
Are there any mods that are focused on Xen and/or do it well?
I can't personally attest, but a lot of people like "Someplace Else" http://www.runthinkshootlive.com/posts/someplace-else/ Made by Adam Foster, same guy who made Minerva.

So prospekts is out, anyone wanna show off those professionally made xen levels that will get valve to hire the guy? :v:
It is painful how many articles and video titles of Prospekt go along the lines of "Possibly the closest to thing to half-life 3". Like COME THE FUCK ON. What would make this, basically a map pack, anything close to being a sequel? The same enemies, weapons and environments, not to mention that every Half-Life installment (partially in EP1) introduced a drastically new setting. (Black mesa > City17 > Outland) Do these people even acknowledge there's a term called "expansion"? /rant [editline]18th February 2016[/editline] Decided to watch a playthrough, and the line at 22:16 caught me of guard: The guy thinks "G-man" is an actual in-universe name of the character.

looks sorta bland tbh
I saw a Eurogamer article today, claiming that Prospekt was "approved by Valve as a continuation of the storyline from Half Life: Opposing Force". I was a bit disappointed to see that from a generally well informed "website"

Does that game have ANY custom assets? I heard this game was supposed to be the creator's way of getting a job in the gaming industry, but that's kinda impossible if he doesn't even know how to make models which is a really important thing to know in game development today. Game doesn't even have custom hands or even a pipe wrench???? Opposing Force 2 by Menter should have been in prospekt's shoes instead of this

I was a bit disappointed to see that from a generally well informed "website"
While it should be fairly obvious it's not really, i can sort of see why they might think that. The games store description says "totally new addition to the Half-Life 2 universe" "Continues the story of Opposing Force" "Official Valve approval for Half-Life 2 license and assets" and "carefully integrated into the Half-Life 2 story". I'm not really sure what it means by "Half-Life 2 license" in this case, but based on those things in the description, it's as if it's trying to pass itself off as sort of officially approved rather than just a fan-made product.

I like how this battle goes. Chell steals the cake from Gordon, and then Gordon straight up tries to murder her. I mean, look at her face when he tries to kill her. Via explosion.

My Prospekt review. I give it 4/6 Double Doors.

He's in this too? Oh god, why is Mikee talking to Shephard like he's a squad leader or something. As a Corporal he's in charge of like 4 dudes maximum. Why are the Marines speculating about Aliens and shit. I thought none of them even knew about Black Mesa until they were on the Ospreys. Why is it all so shiny? :why:
There stops being crates of ammo 1/2 of the way through the game, so you're literally scavenging dead combine for every last piece of ammo.

I just wanted to tell that PROSPEKT is just a fucking big joke. 10 bucks for this?? No way. And Richard Seabrook "thank you for the purchase, the money will be used for my next game", in the credits. Well, go die already. Basically, PRO'S : -nice fights, big fights. -a good work on sounds and lights. It's like a Daft Punk or Jean-Michel Jarre show. -cool music/OST. -a short but cool level on Xen under Combine control. You can see that even the ammo bend over the low gravity of the borderworld. CON'S : -10 bucks for a 2 hour mod?? Vanilla HL2?? -Where is the story??? Besides some audio flashbacks of Shephard's time on the HECU, and that epileptic intro?? -No new weapons?? No new enemies?? -The difficulty of the last fight is a FUCKIN JOKE : I had to turn god mode ON, even after surviving countless difficulty mod's, to win this one. HAS SOMEONE EVEN BETA TESTED THAT??? -TEN FUCKIN BUCKS!!!!! My advice : Wait for the Steam sales... Buy it one dollar.. This is a joke. This is a scam. I mean, this is NOT a bad mod. In fact, it's pretty cool and a good "Opposing Force 2" fan story. But for FREE, please. for 10 bucks, it's BAD. This is even a spit to the face to all these guys who, for ever a decade, worked hard on their mod's for free just to get one feet in the industry, to have a portfolio... But no, 10 bucks, just no. EDIT : In fact, there IS a story SPOILERS : at the beginning, Shephard is freed by Vort's from Gman stasis, they tell him that the world has changed, their races (human and Vort) are now allied against an enemy, the Combine, and now Freeman is a friend. Yes, they LITERRALLY say that. After that, Shephard has to kill and blow some... stuff no one knows what their purpose is (a Combine spatial station), and in the end [hide] Gman comes back, he KILLS Vort's with... psychic powers, and recaptures Shephard with a sinister grin. And that's it END SPOILERS
i hate how some people are allready defending this by "hurr durr approved by valve - official and cannon", are people really this dumb or what? also this creates wrong impression for those who just started playing half-life series, seriously...
About "how is Prospekt canon", well it "is"... because the guy managed to put the story during "the Uprising gap", when Gordon and Alyx disappeared for a week after teleporting in Nova Prospekt. That, and the fact that Shephard encounters... nobody relevant... in fact, everyone is just dead or an enemy. And his actions during the course of the mod served no purpose at all, or at least nothing is explained... I will take the perfect counter-example, the Citizen : in it, you manage to destroy the first location of the Breencast which were outside the Citadel, at first, and your last mission is to destroy the BreenDrink fabrication plant. As your protagonist is some random rebel guy, your actions are subtle but still can be put in the HL2 story and considered as "canon" without too much problem. And you know what you're doing. It has an effect... unlike what you do in Prospekt... :/ You don't really "see" the effect in the HL2 story BUT you can deduce that you helped in the Uprising to some extent...
Sorry man but your PRO's aren't even a pros :) - fights are terrible, combine soldiers are rushing blindy at your or it's typical combat arena, with blocked doors and dozens of soldiers to kill. Also you fight agains soldiers only. Boring - Music is cool, but this is one of those elemenst not made by Prospekt designer himself. That's why it's good :v: - Xen is ugly and pointlss. All you do there is jumping from one platform to another and fighting combine soldier (again). No bullsquids, Houdeyes, nothing important to do. That's how bad it is. Also this mod does every possible mistakes that mods do. Like for example - stripping player from all weapons and giving them to him again like 2 minutes later. Pointless.

No ifs ands or buts. Until Valve endorses it as canonical, it's not happening.

That just makes it irrelevant!
This reminds me about Aperture (price)Tag
