At the moment, in order to look around the demo, I'm setting timescale to 0.1 and noclip speed to 10; is there a better way to do things?

is the view distance bothering you?
if so, try setting r_farz to -1

I was expecting that tbh. That is why I was asking for a confirmation. It is just Volvo again who just keeps persuading us to lose hope for HL3.

All they need to do for DoD2 is add an Asiimov Thompson skin, and a couple knives, as well as custom playermodels, and they're all set

Nothing changed in the update regarding most of the content we datamined. That was removed a few months back. The update was likely only bugfixes as it was [b]very[/b] small.

No, he just didn't know about it.
He is just a writer and him not knowing isn't unreasonable, but that also doesn't preclude him from lying to keep things hidden. Either way, its real.
This just makes me wonder how much information that's been quickly shut down by a Laidlaw email may actually be true now.

Imagine, Valve is out on GDC or something, and they end up showing Source 2 in first person, they even show off some combat just like the old HL2 E3 presentation, and in the end they fade in text saying "Half-life 3:" and after a little while "Deathmatch" fades in below it

So basically when it's released, it's going to be fixed up so that that there aren't missing textures/bugs and you'll be able to switch between the Alpha and the Beta versions of the game I'm guessing?

Aww, but the missing textures and bugs are PART of the beta experience!
That old Gravity Gun portal model has been something I've always wanted. I don't know what's up with it, but it just looks really good.

Something about the lighting and textures look more detailed than the final product here and there too, but that might just be me not having played the original in a long while.

So how long until someone does what they did for porting HL2 into Portal 1? Or would this 'version' of the engine potentially be incompatible enough to prevent that?
Shame, the VR demo isn't working for me.
Might be my lack of AVX support CPU-side.
Also, those reflections are indeed parallax corrected cube maps, according to the GDC presentation.

It would probably take awhile, since you would need to fix a lot of the models up from decompiles (assuming those Source 1 to Source 2 converters aren't already available.)
Plus, I personally have no clue how the scripts work in Source 2.
