All of the sounds are missing.

Thats not from half life 3 that's in the demo.

No one said it was.
Can someone explain where this big leak came from? It always feels like there's some secret community of people sharing beta maps behind the scenes

it wasn't a leak, people just got old development files from people who've worked at Valve.
The leak here was more a fault of Valve's than anyone else. They pushed out their SteamVR performance test without realizing they had assets and information related to HL3, and once people realized it didn't take long for news to spread around.
Might've been on purpose, might not, or maybe they really do not give two shits considering it's not really that much new info.
Was screwing around with the dota 2 workshop tools. The shaders from the vr demo sort of (not really) work if you copy paste them.
You can create textures (but they won't render)
Here's the Generic Shader

Things to Note:
-Uses Spec Gloss PBR
-Supports Tint Maks
-Supports Vertex Colors
-Parallax
-Point Specular (Finally)
-Screen Space Reflections (the ones in the demos were parallax cubemaps)
On the topic of Steam VR Benchmark
It's literally Half-Life 2 ported to Source 2.

Don't think so, they just ported portal 2's source code for the demo (which contains hl2 stuff), not the other way around
The QR codes say [sp]Hello :)[/sp] and [sp]bad coffee[/sp]

Actually, Portal 2 didn't contain HL2 code. And this doesn't contain Portal 2 game code.

How do you get audio?

Downloaded an older version.
Pre-Orangebox Half-Life 2 had some weird reflections.

Sorry about the dark environment, it was the best way to show them off.
There are several places where this type of reflection looks really good though, like through the canal sections of HL2. It makes your suit and gun look wet which I always thought was kinda cool.

How did you do that?
How did you do that?
By downloading the Depot.

Good 'ol Source. Game is INFRA btw, go buy it.
By downloading the Depot.
The Depot doesn't allow me to do that. Is he using a modified version of the Depot?
valve might be showing something at GDC.
took some screens

is this what parallax corrected cubemaps look like? (notice the ground and the bottom walls warping to one point

hmm?
Every single revision of the depot is available for every account
https://github.com/SteamRE/DepotDownloader
Compile this from the source and use this command:
depotdownloader -app 323910 -depot 323911 -manifest *choose a mainfest id from the url above* -user *your steam user* -password *your steam passworld*
[thumb]http://i.imgur.com/YKldRBz.jpg[/thumb]
Using my master cryptodeciphering skills, I managed to decode the binary message "011010110010100110110010101101101010100101010101001110" at the bottom of that magazine. After cracking the code, I found that it says says "Error: Malformed binary. Your binary code is must be divisible by 8." At the moment, I have yet to determine how this statement relates to Half-Life 3.

Hmmm that's odd, everytime I try it the program crashes.
Note that the depot might not be completely available anymore on Steam content servers. A lot of files/chunks will probably 404 and you might be missing some things that appeared in the SteamDB/ValveTime blog posts. The version we have is not in the list of manifest IDs on SteamDB. If anyone is looking for any specific files that are missing let me know.
At some point, Valve accidentally deleted their main copy of the texture PSDs, so a lot of the textures were edited from pre DXT-compressed versions and then dxt compressed again. However, these psds once thought lost were on this drive, so I have the raw versions that have never compressed (or double-compressed) that I'm pretty (80%) sure even Valve doesn't have.
The metal box texture is especially bad. From what I can tell, it was DXT compressed no fewer than 3 times.
[editline]22nd February 2016[/editline]
here is the texture from the archive:
And here's the texture that shipped with the game:
It's been DXT compressed so many times that it's turned green.
That is so interesting. I had always noticed that the cube texture was a little low quality compared to the rest of the assets in Portal, who would have known Valve was re-compressing the texture because they lost the .PSD. Thanks for posts man, really interesting stuff.
Any interest in an HD portal textures mod? A lot of the archive textures are much bigger than the textures that shipped. Case in point:

The oldest version of CS:GO still works to download, why is the 323910 having problems?

No idea. I tried downloading a bunch of things yesterday to compare with the version we have, as our version is older than the manifest IDs that are available on SteamDB (the dump we have was made before we started tracking the app and manifests on SteamDB) and the CDN was constantly throwing 404's at me and I wasn't able to get some of the files I wanted.
