half-life dreamcast is best half-life
I actually like the models in the Dreamcast version IMO they fit better than the released HD model pack.
I'll never forget my first experience with Half Life, the guard walked up to the tram and dropped dead. I'll never know how or why.
Imagine a playthrough where every unintentional random death has to be followed by that one sound. :v:
Sellout.
Sort of related to HL/Portal

I thought this was pretty funny. http://quikdocs.com/news/half-life-3-time-for-valve-to-outsource-it/10011696/
remember how Postal 3 got outsourced?
And Colonial Marines? It can work like with Max Payne 3, but it's way more likely to fuck up.
And Colonial Marines? It can work like with Max Payne 3, but it's way more likely to fuck up.
Max Payne 3 was outsorced? You mean because Rockstar North didn't have anything to do with it? Then only mainline GTAs were "insource". Can you call it outsourcing if it's one big studio with collaboration between the branches?

Why did that Max Payne General die? Damn. I am kind of surprised there's no discussion of IGX and GDC here, or is it in another Valve related thread? I lost all of them after the Valve section was deleted

I'm bracing for the earthquakes resulting from every vaguely gaming news related outlet typing how "disappointing" it was for Valve to not drop a HL3 announcement at a conference for game developers.

God damn. Didn't want to get too hyped for this but it already happened.
OH BOY, I'VE BEEN SO WAITING TO REPLACE MY BRAND NEW PC WITH SOME SHITTY CONSOLE MADE FROM OLD PC PARTS RUNNING ON MODIFIED LINUX OS. YES PLEASE, I'LL TAKE TEN. Just... no. No one asked for it. No one wants it. VR is pretty cool but majority is still gonna prefer normal screens over it for looooong time until they nail everything down and hammer the price down a lot. VR is not complete waste but Steam Box is. Why even bother?

It's somewhat peculiar that Chet is working on that, but hey it's Valve anyone can work on anything I guess. If we look at this skills however one would say he's probably been working on a game to ship with it.
If you followed him on twitter and his talks last year at multiple events, it's been pretty much all VR, so not surprising. I don't think he's been involved in any game since he joined the VR team. This also goes for Doug Church who a lot of people were excited about that he was involved in L4D3 (like Hocking :p).
I wonder how Gabe feels about this situation. Does he enjoy working on these projects and genuinely believe they're going to pay off, and he's confidant of it? Or is he beginning to lose his way...

But EGX is shortly after GDC
Is anybody willing to make the Hammer Editor Player start model into an actual NPC model for me? If so, please make it have ALL the animations. It's for a secret project.
That has been done before, it's on workshop
-snip-
Why even bother?
Because Microsoft has the majority's stake in the PC gaming market. If they ever decide to completely break PC gaming (which is debatable how advantageous it would be for them, that's not the point), Valve's entire empire of games could collapse in a drastically short amount of time. Steam OS is Valve's way of diversifying the market, and ensuring they have some level of control when it comes to their business. Also, what are you getting so incensed about? Do you think Gabe Newell is going to personally come to your house and smash up your PC to make you buy a console you don't want? Or are you upset that god forbid some people might buy an inferior product or even worse, some new players might get their hands on it and enjoy playing some games.
wut almost every valve title is available on consoles the only thing we would lose out on is fakefactory and gmod, and i can live with that.
wut almost every valve title is available on consoles the only thing we would lose out on is fakefactory and gmod, and i can live with that.
Valve makes most of its money from Steam, not games. And of their games their biggest money makers are Dota, CSGO and TF2 and only because of in game items which exist only on PC.
there are idi- people who would be willing to do the same thing on consoles shit, they already do pretty much with paying for internet.
This is my favorite Valve glitch of all time, and I have always found it entertaining. I mean, this is 17ish years late, but atleast it has to do with Half Life and not water vapor based heat engines. I mean Steam Machines.
That music is fairly obnoxious.
