if valve announced half life 3 I would eat a sock toxx clause here
I'm quoting just in case hell freezes over.
Well, seeing that no one found backups of the P1 PortalGun for P2, i asked one of my friends to kindly do one, the result is basically the P1 PortalGun skin, but colored to fit P2's palette.
I also made it use the original P1 anims, so it has the bigger polycount while beign faithful to the original model.

the game is running at 64 bits.
that has been known for so long and the beta workshop tools of dota 2 was also 64 bit.
like, Half life 3 and L4D3 are basically already confirmed due to this and the leak(showed hl3 and l4d3).
Now an announcement might stay out a bit but we all know that half life 3 needs little marketing at this point.

I was answering to someone that said they wanted to see a game running on the new engine with the testbed.
When I said it already existed I was dumbed to oblivion.

What if they take so long to announce it that you die of old age. Then you're gonna get banned. You didn't think this through
One of the HTC Vive demo's takes place in the Aperture science facility. You have to repair some robot with the new fancy VR controllers. It's apparently awesome. Some journalists are saying this a sneak peek at Portal 3 but we all know that Valve likes to make tech demos so that's probably not Portal 3.

I completely missed that, thanks for noticing it runs on 64bit!
Engadget has the most detailed description of the Portal demo I've seen so far.
HTC and Valve saved their best demo for last. The spokesperson told me that he would keep quiet from then on and I was to follow the instructions given. As the scene faded from black, I found myself in a very familiar environment. I could feel myself smiling, grinning from ear to ear. I couldn't help myself. I was in an Aperture Science testing facility. Yes, I was inside the world of Portal.
It looked as if I was in some kind of repair room. A disembodied voice came over the speakers and told me to open a drawer. I looked around me, saw some built-in drawers and walked over to them. I opened a drawer, only to see blueprints and tools. The voice said I opened the wrong one, so I tried again. This time, I saw a moldy cake. Apparently that was the wrong one also, so I opened another one. It contained tiny, little cutout people at tiny, little office desks who went berserk at the sight of me. The disembodied voice told me that I had made a mistake and that I was now their god.
Giving up on me, the voice then told me to walk across the room and pull on a lever. I did that and a giant door opened. Behind it were two of Portal 2's androids, Atlas and P-Body, lying on the floor broken and in disrepair. Suddenly, Atlas awakened, and lumbered toward the room. It was so imposing and realistic that I backed away instinctively from the door. The voice then told me to press on a button to expand its components so that I could repair it. I did so, pulling on its front exterior to expose its electronic guts. The next thing the voice told me to do was so complicated and full of technical jargon that I knew it was impossible. The voice told me to keep calm while also warning me with increasing urgency that if I didn't accomplish the task in time, I would fail.
And, of course, I did. Atlas collapsed on the floor with great noise and fanfare; the floor gave way and the room started to fall apart around me. I was told in a deadpan manner that I was now not qualified to do anything. Then, a familiar voice popped up. It was GladOS, Portal's AI antagonist, wondering out loud how a robot could possibly fail this simple mission until a camera popped by and saw me, to which she responded, "Oh." As the room started to get rebuilt around me, she said that I had done well as far as humans go, and that I was relieved of my duties. The demo then faded out to an outro and it was over.
And some video about Vive:

I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to afford.
Damn. I really want to see this portal tech demo now.

According to this video, there's going to be something called the Valve Steam Store, which is somewhere you can buy games? Sounds crazy to be honest. With partners such as HBO, Lionsgate, Valve of course, and Google. There's also more players in VR than Oculus.
[sp]this dude is so misinformed[/sp]

"A little teaser from Aperture Science"
YOU WHAT
That would be funny if we got a Portal 3.
half-life 3 first motherfucker
it says CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT / VALVE CORPORATION which is safe to stare at but another part is the kind of laser that will harm eyes
[t]http://i.imgur.com/TgfoRVj.jpg[/t]
it's probably more like, what actually comes out of it is class 1, but if you opened it up you would start damaging yourself

Right now its just regular lasers, but the consumer version will use infrared lasers, so it shouldn't be an issue.

the s you fool
that actually looks incredible what the fuck
Man, that level of detail :v:
Gets me excited for the future.
Gotta admit. At first I wasn't thrilled at all from the VR. But after seeing some of the demos and the reactions, I gotta give it to them. Valve really are wizards in almost any field of gaming they focus on.
I kinda wish they'd put some sort of Xenian wildlife in a Portal game, testing would be a bit more interesting if you had to find creative ways to dispose of headcrabs or bullsquids
They've got some really sexy shaders in that demo.
I wonder if it's Source 2?
