... So you want someone to take DX:HR and try to smush it together with HL2?

Well my subconscious is trying to tell me something.
Or maybe I just had too many tacos or something. :v:
Anyways, I've been trying to get the Metropolice to throw grenades. It isn't going very well.
there's little Source 2 could do now that other engines haven't already done.
I'd imagine there are a few things it could do, but they would probably be things more interesting to developers than players.
I fixed my screen recorder!
At least I think I did, at the very least.
Here, have this re-recorded video of the headcrab zombification thing in Hammer!
If you look closely, one of the headcrabs gets a double kill on those Combine Soldiers because I broke the outputs of them disappearing upon zombification :v:.

I edited the post. Originally, it included the second picture in the last post I made on the previous page. However, I instead moved it back a post because it fit better with the previous picture.

Have you guys listened to this podcast?
https://soundcloud.com/gameslice/valve
It's really interesting but what is VERY interesting is the part between 38:46 and 43:23
at ~41:46 he talks about how he gets how some people feel remember an awesome experience and feel like they're never going to have it again. Then he gives an example of Terry Pratchett and how we might never get another Discworld novel (ironically a few hours before Terry Pratchett died), and that "we think at the end of the day customers are going to be really happy with where we spent our time and how we've turned that into entertainment for them"
at ~43 mins he says "If you wanna do another Half-Life game and ignore everything we've learned in shipping Portal 2 and shipping all the updates on the multiplayer side, that seems like a bad choice, so we'll keep moving forward but that doesn't always mean what people are worried it might mean".
So, that's an interesting listen.
[editline]19th March 2015[/editline]
Also some guy on soundcloud transcribed the entire thing if you're into reading instead of listening. The meat is in page 18

"Copyright 2007...?" Determined or not, that game must be long dead by now. That's kind of a downer.

Doing another Half Life game is a "bad choice"?
Well f_ck you too Valve.
These bastards really doesn't give a damn about what fans think.

Pretty sure gabe was talking about "those that ignore the lesson of hats and MLP skins and decide to make a retro HL experience would be a bad choice."
I feel like a moron cause I have no clue what he's trying to say. What I'm getting is him saying that Valve works on games that they want to work on. Someone wanna try to summarize it?
I got the idea that he's trying to say "We can't work on another Half Life game without acknowledging what we've learned from everything we've done since then."
It actually sounds really optimistic to me. In fact I think it might be the first time he's mentioned Half Life without being prompted in a really long time.
Brutal Half-Life was released the other day : http://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-half-life .
Really small download (<50mB), only one small sandbox custom map - otherwise you can play through the normal Half-Life campaign. Modding in a couple custom campaigns isn't too hard according to a friend of mine, merely copy-paste.
Main feature is gratutious amounts of gore, with dismemberment on almost all the enemys plus new blood decals and sprites.
Pretty gruesome with the ability to shoot out chunks out of enemys incapacitating them from combat but keeping them alive.
Tons new effects such as bullet impacts and explosions, almost all firearms have custom sounds.
Quick kick, which can damage and stun enemys. Light Machine gun from seargent grunts. BFG from Doom(not sure if you can legitimately get this in the HL campaign yet). Pistol has an optional silencer. SMG handles realistically when fired dry.
Hey guys, what are the general opinions on Black Mesa? I've heard it's bad compared to the original game itself, but I haven't played HL1 outside of Decay (about 3 years ago, and only to the freezer section) so I can't really make a judgment. Should I just re-buy HL1 on pc or something?

It's a pretty good remake and homage for a game with absolutely no budget

You have caused confusion and delay!
Anyone know what happened to muzzleflash_light 1?
I think it used to work for the 2004 version of Half-Life 2, although I'm not too sure. It's definitely not functioning now.
Any ways to re-enable it?

why is this being dumbed? I think this is actually pretty cool and shows what the engine is really capable of with enough determination
