Really enjoying brutal doom, it has some funny bugs tho, you can kick boxes up in the air and they wont come down, and you can kick enemies up walls

Has anyone here managed to get CSS Sci Fi 3: Hardwired to work? Or at the very least, the custom maps from SMOD: Redux? Trying to get anything SMOD related to function properly is a huge pain.

someone needs to play through the entire game with kicking only.

You should probably work off a legacy HL2 version - half the great SMOD stuff broke after the Steam version finally got the Orange Box update.
I don't get what the podcast is supposed to be. Does it answer any of the pressing questions we've been having for the past 8 years, or is it just making them more ambiguous?

I don't really know how to do that. I've been trying to get it to work by messing around with SMOD Standalone, but it's just been one problem after another.

Dunno if this still works, otherwise have a look around on the rest of that forum since they focus on SMOD and their derivatives.

I tried that and got some texture or background related error, which I then fixed by copying some files, and now it just crashes with no explanation. I'm out of ideas.

I'd do it just for kicks.
I have a working copy of SMOD Standalone with me right now, sure you're not just installing it wrong? The procedure is prone to failure, that's why it's not at 1.0.
I got SMOD vanilla and most of Redux to work (aside from the extra CSS objective maps, which spawn with no enemies for some reason), and Tactical has some weird bugs and is missing some textures. CSS Sci Fi just crashes before I can reach any menus.

Does anyone know how I can get custom dialog lines for Portal 2 to ACTUALLY work? I muted all of Wheatleys voice lines and placed those files in a proper folder and used the -override_vpk startup option but still the original lines play.
they need to be in vpk
sounds only mount when in vpk or packed in bsp

Yeah, I tried that whole thing (extracting pak01_dir, adding in new files, dragging folder on vpk.exe) but vpk just sits there and doesn't output anything
sooo 7 years later they just suddenly realized they had to make another game?
sounds legit

I'm half-imagining the HECU radio'ing in about a bunnyhopping, angry Gordon kicking everyone to death and up walls before he zooms across the dam, punting all of the soldiers and the Gargantua into the waters for the Itchyosaur.
Look what I've found

you can kick barnacles, i've just discovered.
also is there some sort of hd compatibility mod for this?

Looking at videos like this, HL2's models really show their age. No matter how nice people manage to integrate them into actual footage, they're just pretty low res and weird looking.

That is actually pretty funny. :v:
Brutal HL is just muthaf*ckin' awesome. Actually with the secondary attack from the shotgun and/or the kick, we can now kick enemies in pits, now, such as lift shafts.

the golden age of violence, it's Soldier of Fortune meets Half Life.
In BHL I just love making enemies go into the wounded state.
Great, now that I've got the original SMOD working, I've become obsessed with fixing/playing old Source mods. What a horrible existence this is.

I just used the download link here. So far, I haven't had any problems.
Browsing the thread in SH made me remember the canned Portal 2 DLC. Very bittersweet. I remember speculating with friends about what the single player campaign would be.
I hope that content makes its way into any Portal 3 thing.
