they should do an update mod for the first half-life

Half Life: Subtitles Mod fixes a lot of stuff, and adds subtitles. Frankly I'd just like the bug fixes.
they should do an update mod for the first half-life
there aren't that many bugs other than the elevator physics and the garg stomp
Me and a friend are interested in playing co-op Half-Life together, is Sven Co-op the best option, or is there anything else that's better for the base Half-Life game? We're not really too interested in playing anything besides the Goldsource Half-Life games, including Blue Shift and OpFor.

It's too real!
Also, you can do the halo flood thing with zombies. shoot their arms off and they swing harmlessly.
As Half-Life 2: Update is coming out very soon, I think I can call stop on the Enhancement mod.
I'd like to talk about the status of the mod though:
Since Autumn of 2014, the mod is in a limbo state, with no new content being made, other than me updating the game code. After 2 weeks straight of programming, still nothing new is made, so I decided to quit the mod. After 2 month or so the mod is still in limbo(as it should), I decided to covert it to a engine update, with the reason of that I have the actual authority at Steamworks.
When Source 2 SDK is released, I might give it a second try...
If I recall that's still in dev or limbo.
Also, I remember I was talking to someone and they said that someone on the enhancement mod team used assets from Filip's mod without his permission.
This is true unfortunately. But it's before I team up with Enhancement Mod. Porting HL2 to ASW engine is a personal project for me back in 2012/2013, I wanted to have newer maps than the old, non-HDR maps the stock HL2 had, so I used Half-Life 2: Update 2.0's maps. But now I've extracted the maps from Xbox 360's The Orange Box, none of Filip's stuff is used in Enhancement Mod anymore.
The thing about Enhancement Mod, from what I remember, was that it was too ambitious without much direction as far as I can tell, even if you yourself may have had a firm idea perhaps. You had too many people in one large clusterfuck trying to contribute or be ideas guys, and there wasn't even much of a major workflow idea to really get things through. Plus everyone basically wanted to make entirely new models, code and assets and 'fix' Half-Life 2 in numerous ways last I saw. Something like that is begging to tear itself apart at the seams. Correct me if i'm wrong on this, though, since after a point I just stopped visiting the thread altogether due to how chaotic it all became.
The game has flaws, some maps are sterile or poorly done by today's standards, but one should focus on the base essentials for enhancement first before trying to make everything high-res and all fancy and stuff. Cut down the ambition, fix blatant and major issues with the game, and then improve rather than immediately try to build/rebuild upon what is there. [sp]you know, sort of like what Update's doing as a basis idea[/sp]
In semi-related news, it seems the juniez/fewes/brightside weapon model pack's been silent for a long while over at Polycount besides two posts in last month. That makes me sad.

The distorted sound of a engine shifting gears could be cute.
I really wish Valve would update HL2 and all old Source engine games to allow an FOV higher than 90. I'm used to 105 as a baseline these days and I hate having to include sv_cheats 1 in autoexec and a dirty config hack to get what I want.
The HTC Vive has a fov of 110, so I'm sure they'll up the limit to that when an update eventually comes out.
Why does the HL2 community update need sponsors?

Some sort of limbo. The projects original goals ended up being really fuzzy, and getting redefined a number of times internally; this always lead to problems and was one of many reasons we're in hiatus.
As Ken said, we're probably going to wait for Source 2, this will likely turn into a Black Mesa style project, a deep reworking of Half Life 2 for the "next gen" engine, more information will be posted on the hl2em.com forums at some point soonish.
Same here, I've been following that pack close as fuck for awhile now
I'm checking it almost daily too.
Last thing I heard Brightside was getting upset with Source engine, then a few months ago he appeared with a new video of HL2 featuring the models, but not specifically about the models, then... poof
Here's the video if anybody's interested

Why do so many weapon mods have to come with such horribly loud and unpleasant firing sounds that overpower the rest of the game's audio? I know guns are supposed to be loud, but they're kept at a certain volume in most games for a good reason.

Last thing I heard Brightside was getting upset with Source engine, then a few months ago he appeared with a new video of HL2 featuring the models, but not specifically about the models, then... poof. He went back to making Insurgency stuff after this and he hasn't talked about it or mentioned it since.
I hope he doesn't abandon it because he said it was his intent to release it sometime soon, and I think it'd make a perfect match with HL2 Update. The pack looked like it was close to release, last I recall he only had to polish the weapons and do something about the Bugbait (I assume he'd just recompile the old bugbait on the new hands, it's not worth a new animation or model if you ask me), and then he could release it. But nope, nothing so far.
Well I asked the devs back on the forums; (and yes, they have forums.), they said they're not going to have a content update until they have something worth showing off.
Why did you guys rate me dumb? :c
I just wanted to start a conversation about HL2RP and what people thought.

HL2RP is a Garry's Mod gamemode, so you should look for HL2RP related things there, not in a thread about the Half-Life/Portal series. Basic stuff, no?
After watching that new quadrazid's video I found DWaHMoV
I just realised that Kleiner sent Alyx first to use her as a test subject in case the portal didn't actually work.

Ah, my favorite moment in that is at 43 minutes. The guy screams to stop and gordon just flies over the cliffs.

Could playing Half-Life 2 with this possibly fix the censorship Valve has put on the German version?
Everything magically fading away really got on my nerves last time I tried to play it.
I can't believe they did that, there was no reason whatsoever to censor it after 7 something years after the release.

If it does, I can't imagine it being available in Germany for that long, unless the makers want to patch their own work.
Enhance!
Enhance!
It's still funny how Valve attempted to fix an exploit that allows players to move too fast but ended up creating a new exploit that allows players to move RIDICULOUSLY fast, crossing each coast map in seconds.
Speaking of mods that have been Greenlit for ages finally getting a Steam release, Fortress Forever.
I didn't even know this was a thing, but all things considered for what's just a big bug fix and visual overhaul it does make the game look like 2007 rather than 2004 just by aesthetics alone. Looks like we're finally getting our official mod equivalent of the Orange Box console version of the game, in a sense.

Over the years, I've had many people tell me just how great the Half-Life series was, and that I should really go and buy the Complete Pack to experience what they called arguably the finest gameplay, coupled with top notch setpieces, voice acting, and story.
So recently I went and bought it, and played through the first Half-Life and it's expansions. And I have to say that it was, as some people might call it, worth the wait.
A late to the Half-Life bandwagon as I was, (just finished the 'expansion packs' for the first Half-Life), I was quite ready to jump into Half-Life 2. However, just yesterday one of my friends informed me that this was coming out, that it was pretty much just Half-Life 2 but better, and that I should play this instead. So depending on whether this is good (and faithful/similar to the original) or not, I might forgo playing Half-Life 2 until this comes out and play this instead.
More than anything. what I'm really excited about is the community commentary that they added. Since I don't own Raising the Bar but I'd like to know about what Valve did to create such an award-winning FPS, it would be interesting to see what kind of design choices they made. At least, if the commentary content is accurate :v:.
Anyways, it's exciting and a testament to the strength of the Half-Life series that even after all these years, people are still creating new content for such an old (and critically-acclaimed) game.
I look forward to playing this.
(Also to see how people realisticly explode into body parts and blood. Being able to crowbar scientists into blood and blobs of low-res meat in the first game was one of the most awesome things I've ever done. (NSA, if you're reading this, I'm not a mass murderer. I just like exploding people in video games.))
it's releasing in ~14 hours

I made those, sorry.
It was for a personal thing at first then they took interest.
