I wonder if the Valve dudes are actually literally high with weed being legal and all that in Washington where they are based now, it'd explain some of the shit they do

probably late but why the hell is black mesa now being sold for $20? does it have multiplayer?
I have no problem with $20, but I do have a big problem with releasing into early access with only 85% of campaign complete. Finish the campaign, and then release it into early access for a month to squash bugs. Or even better - hire a team of playtesters to do that professionally, they it has been done since videogames began.

Early Access is just that, the game is still in development and by buying EA your supporting the game during it's development. Of-course there is going to be bugs and missing features, that is because it's still being worked on. It's not like they just released the game without Xen and left the project.
Hello, does anyone know why I'm having pieces of scenery missing? -not missing- This is just one example, but one level back there were pipes leading into nothing and it was very obvious something was missing. The console said something like "CSceneEntity not found" multiple times, but strangely it didn't say it now that I took these pictures so I couldn't get images of that. I verified the cache but it says they're validated so I'm unsure what's going on. [editline]well[/editline] Well I watched a video and that part is actually supposed to be like that apparently, but yeah I'm still missing scenery.
I think the update mod fixed that issue
Oh wow, I didn't know this existed! Thanks. Also I think you meant to put this part out of my quote? Anyways yeah, thanks!
But I mean, it's clear the testers alone aren't at fault. Valve should stop relying this much on them.
From what I've seen, the level designer/s are required to sit down and watch the whole play through and take notes, they cannot suggest to the player to "look that way" or "jump down there"; they just have to sit and watch. Watching some guy dick around a tunnel you made turning right every time, for 30 minutes, is good incentive to change it, since you don't want to sit there watching that happen over and over, and over.
I just got the stupidest idea ever. Portal: DM. A big map of portal-able surfaces, bottomless pits, crushers, lasers, and poison. Players try to open portals under other players, sending them into hazards. They also can step on buttons to active traps like activating crushers, or opening walls with turrets on the other side.
Portal 2 originally was supposed to have a competitive multiplayer mode, but it was turned into the Co-Op campaign we know today
Yeah, apparently the multiplayer was deemed not fun at all. Something to do with people opening portals under you, with nothing you can do.

So this is happening, I'm wondering if it'll be like actual Portal in Lego, or just the characters running around a world that looks like Portal. Also the giant turret is a let down, still probably gonna get it!
It's a Level pack, so it will have a portal world in it
You have no idea how much I'd cream myself if we got Half-Life lego sets.

hey I just recently stumbled across this thread, been looking into hl2 and reminiscing on portal/portal 2. Some years ago, my friend's dad gave me a tour of valve. I was basically too young to remember anything like leaks, unused content etc... but I got some stickers, a valve t-shirt, portal track jacket... and the collector's edition book. If you guys need anything or are wondering about the content in this book, I can take pics and stuff. I remember some concept art that was in there, probably nothing too special though. Right now I'm going to bed, but i'll look for replies in the morning.
So to save myself some trial and error, what is the method of adding mods to HL2: Update?
So to save myself some trial and error, what is the method of adding mods to HL2: Update?
You need to modify gameinfo.txt to allow addon mounting. I think someone had the instructions in this thread
You need to modify gameinfo.txt to allow addon mounting. I think someone had the instructions in this thread
Damn, I was expecting being told "put folders_x in destination_y" or "put .vpk in addons", not "oh you need to go edit some files somewhere". Good thing I didn't bother with the trial and error approach, I would have never figured that out.
Oh fuck am I really considering getting lego dimensions now But that NFC platform looks giant where am I going to put that
"Wait, how did he get a RPG into our test chamber?"
How.
Judging by the shadow bug, he probably ported Portal 2 assets to HL2
Judging by the shadow bug, he probably ported Portal 2 assets to HL2
Alienswarm can also import portal 2 maps and run the assets (some of them lol) I had a friend who actually got somewhere with it but he gave up because classic
Does anyone remember a Half Life 1 mod where your character used a hazmat suit? I saw a video of it years ago, but I can't find it now. I remember it had some kind of warehouse, or shipping area, near the start of the game.
Sweet Half-Life?
