An album of it happening, close enough: http://imgur.com/a/GTzTL
That also happens in cod2 if you keep falling from the map long enough. Why does it happen?
That also happens in cod2 if you keep falling from the map long enough. Why does it happen?
floating point errors cause vertexs to be rendered in the wrong spot or something like that
That also happens in cod2 if you keep falling from the map long enough. Why does it happen?
Basically, the positions of the vertices that make up the model (in this case, the viewmodel) are represented using floating point numbers (basically numbers that have a decimal point, i.e. 6.4023) which at a certain point (in this case, negative thousands upon thousands of units on the up axis) begin to create very visible errors in the resulting image.
Portal Stories: Mel is out
Whats the deal with bad voice acting in portal 2 mods They never say "the" or "there" its always "de" and "dere"
Playing the Portal Stories right now. I am insanely irked by the fact that they have all these cool new textures and models and yet they didn't bother making the citizen models not look like some gamebanana-worthy ass retexture. Also this guy is having some quality sleep time... on his shift... with opened eyes [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/622969238673095542/A9B9B82A17676FF810F1F59BCACCB0541E8C8454/[/t]
Cave Johnson here, I know you may be wondering why Jeffrey is sleeping on the job, and you also may be wondering why he's got his eyelids taped open, or why I haven't fired him for that matter. It's actually part of special facility wide test we're conducting at this very moment to find out if reality as we know it is actually real or merely energy signals created by our eyesights, "hollow grams" my experts call it. Sounds like some fancy dancy garbage if you ask me but we don't say no to science here now do we?
In other news, a website called valve.software that had a logo of Half Life 3, emerged during E3 expo, which led fans to believe that the game could still be announced. But later, the website, which was linked to the actual website of Valve, revealed that the game can be expected next year. A message on the website, read, "Maybe Next Year."
fucking scratch
So far, Portal Stories left me with mixed feelings. On one side, moderately enjoyable. On the other side, this is probably what jamming a spiked bat up my asshole feels like.
How many days are between the beginning of hl1 and the end of ep2? I imagine all the half-life games are just gordon having a really shitty week. [editline].[/editline] given that g-man's stasis is pretty much instantaneous for gordon...

The conclusion is that the series so far has been perceived by Gordon as exactly one week -- probably the shittiest week that anyone has ever had ever. Sorry for taking up so much space, but I'm glad I finally got around to charting it out. Feel free to fact check me, or call me out if I missed something.
I can now hear Ross Scott in my head complaining about how this is the shittiest week of his life
Is there any mod to kill citizens in HL2?
Is there any mod to kill citizens in HL2?
Garry's mod?
Crikey for some of the tests in Portal Stories, I think you actually have to be the creator in order to finish them. And if you eventually stumble on an answer, it doesn't exactly feel satisfying. A shame really, it looked really good.
"Portal Stories: Mel"? More like "Portal Exploitation: 101" because that's how I solved majority of the test chambers so far. Throwing cubes trough Grids while standing on a button that turns them off, using miniature puddles of Propulsion and Repulsion gells to get across gaps and shit like that. And when I came up with the right solution, it felt more like an exploitation than solving the puzzle. Playing the coop levels with a friend who's not that great at puzzles, ending up with me solving 85% of the puzzles by myself, was less of a chore than this fucking mod. It's clear as hell that they didn't have any playtesters because you have no idea what is going on, where what is, what is needed from you, how are you supposed to get from A to B. Most chambers in P2 were giant rooms which divided into smaller areaa but easy to oversee and understand their purpose. Not here, it's like a fucking maze of grids and walls and most puzzles boils down to shooting portal on one wall and then on other wall with twelve Grids in between. Pretty much at the point of breaking and just nocliping trough everything because holy shit, I am not having fun what so ever (keep in mind that I love puzzle games) and I'd like to the story to progress. But if I delete puzzles out of Portal game, I'm left with nothing. [editline]26th June 2015[/editline] If I'd have recording program, I'd probably document half of the shit I had to do just to get to the end of some levels.
I'm waiting for that VNN-but-good youtube channel that did reviews of apeature tag and thinking with time machine to review it because from what I hear it seems like they would have a field day with this mod
I can now hear Ross Scott in my head complaining about how this is the shittiest week of his life
True that, since a lot of us were hooked on Freeman's Mind and Ross Scott's voice has become the headcanon voice for Gordon Freeman for a fair few people. To the point where if HL3 has Gordon voice-acted, it would kinda make sense to have Ross voice him since that's how a fair amount of the fans think he'd sound like, even if it was just him with an internal monologue. It makes me wonder, would there be many games with a previously silent protagonist that would benefit from having someone voice-acting their inner monologue?
You mean Valve Time
yes they all sound similiar to me and VNN at least has a nice acronym
I wish VNN cease and desist.
What's wrong with VNN? Genuinely curious
What's wrong with VNN? Genuinely curious
little bit of everything I know by fact on his fact video he reads straight from Wikis, even when whats stated is false.
Honestly any alternative is better than valvetime
Got few tests further and it's a lot better now. Tests actually feel good to solve, no more mazes and stuff. It genuienly feels like those tests I am doing right now were made by completely different person. [editline]26th June 2015[/editline] Friend was playing as well and... Welp, I think I finally arrived to my dead stop. There just doesn't seem to be any solution if I won't outright cheat.
The problem with Portal Stories is that it seems like all the work went into amazing setpieces, and not enough into actually testing the puzzles. I know how we all complain about Valve's seemingly below-zero IQ testers, but it seems like you need thoroughly test your tests (heh) before putting stuff like this out there. There's too many puzzles that are just fizzlers that you have to get a box past somehow. The design is very confusing, leaving you unsure on where you're supposed to go. Things aren't intuitive, they seem almost flat out impossible. At least it looks fantastic.
If only setpieces of this quality could be in a game where you just shoot monsters
I forgot the name of it, or where to find it -- but does anyone else remember that really mediocre 'movie' that someone made in SFM using Black Mesa assets? I remember it being laughably awful.
