Can anyone help me find a HL2 mod I've played a while ago? From what I remember, it has same menu background as the original HL2 (Trainstation Plaza). When you start the game, Slow Light plays while some blue-colored text appears on the screen (I don't remember what it says). Gordon has HEV suit from the beginning. You start in a small room and meet a rebel upon exiting it. This is pretty much all I can remember. I think you also see a zombie behind a fence at some point close to the beginning.
It's Return of the Resistance I suppose. Video for convenience.
I think one of the things that Half Life 2 has more then any other game is the spectrum of mods. We have really janky but fun maps like above, Shadgrimgravy's weird dream maps, mods like ZM which use mostly stock assest to things like Fistful of Frags which is almost all original assets. The diversity is strong too, but then again I'm saying nothing new there It seams like most other games have a couple of small kinda insignificant mods and then a handful of larger overhauls. Nothing like Half Life 2, where you can go from skins to maps to entire games to entire stories all with one copy of one game. I know it has been said before, but Valve better clean up the development pipeline with Source 2. The community around Valve and the atmosphere of pro-modding is what keep s people around, but they really need to be easy to develop for if they want to compete with Unreal and Unity.
Yeah, can't wait for Crack-life: Source 2
Meh, I'll rather get Rot-Life: Source 2 tbh

Half Mind 3: Even Shittier Edits
Tweaked the shadows a little bit, for some reason the overall lighting is brighter but I'm pretty happy with it. Also replaced the fake grenade with a real grenade, not sure how it looks.
I got curious, has there been a mod that lets you pull out guns from combines with gravity gun?
While it makes sense in the lore of the game that you should be able to pull the guns from anyone. But that'd be pretty op if you could just disarm everyone in your path.
Yeah I know it's op. But let's say you don't have any other weapons and combines attack in groups and are able to run and pickup weapons when you throw them, it could be somewhat entertaining. Also I wonder what Combine would do if you completely strip them of any possibility to get a gun. Would they run after you and punch you?
We'd have to significantly rework what the Gravity Gun and pick up to include weapon entities, specifically while being carried. The Combine would need to be able to pick up weapons from the ground (recycle from Rebel AI). Weapon and ammo pickup would have to be changed that the player either can't pick up a weapon twice (even for ammo), or a "use to equip x" type system, otherwise any weapon "seized" by the player would be automatically taken up by the player. Another feasible and easier system would be that disarming them would pull the weapon a few feet out of their hands. There's still a problem that the player could pick up the weapons effectively leaving them weaponless. The best system I think, would be that pulling on armed soldiers would pull it out of their hands but not entirely, more like something to get them to stop shooting for a moment. Not exactly what you want but might be the least complicated implementation.
Also I wonder what Combine would do if you completely strip them of any possibility to get a gun. Would they run after you and punch you?
if you mean with today's behavior well it would go air-guitar mode. It wouldn't act any differently. Just with a clip of nothing.
if you mean with today's behavior well it would go air-guitar mode. It wouldn't act any differently. Just with a clip of nothing.
Yeah. There are animations for unarmed Combine Soldiers walking and standing and stuff, but there aren't any for melee attacks or anything and the unarmed animations aren't used anyway.
Couldn't they just pull out a stunstick as soon as they were disarmed?
Y'know, that might just work with the right rejiggering.
Couldn't they just pull out a stunstick as soon as they were disarmed?
We'll just yank that too.
Couldn't they just pull out a stunstick as soon as they were disarmed?
Combine Soldiers don't have animations for stunbatons (and it wouldn't make sense for them to be equipped with them.) They're surgical strike units made to black out areas where shit's out of hand, not the metro-police. Old school HL2RP canon was that if as a citizen, you laid eyes on a combine soldier in an enforcement capacity, you're dead meat.
Thanks to ValveTime, I just found out someone is doing some sexy eye candy [t]http://i.imgur.com/EKVCSJm.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/1otlxir.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/J6bWT9G.jpg[/t]
if only it didnt look like it was trying to be amnesia: orwellian europe edition
i think its the extreme sharpen filter on it
I wonder what will happen first: Half-Life 3 releases or Someone finally breaks down and remakes HL2 a la Black Mesa
neither, why would you want both of those when you got a steambox
because a steambox is incapable of doing anything except being something new that valve made
i think its the extreme sharpen filter on it
There's a lot of minor differences, overall the composition is great, but it looks like HL2 with dishonored added in. The elevator is super sci-fi looking, which I can't blame him since his background is in Sci-fi work, but it's noticeable. The textures all have a lot of cavity applied to them, giving them a weird almost cel-shaded look. He also lacks the subtlety valve used in their normalmaps.
snip
all we need now is this ported over to source 2
I can't wait to turn both of my gpus to molten silicon trying to render that scene at 60 FPS :v:
I can't wait to turn both of my gpus to molten silicon trying to render that scene at 60 FPS :v:
It's going to be 2020 and Half Life fans will migrate to the arctic circle to play "City 17: Source"; the subsequent warming from the ice-water cooled CPUs destroys humanity. Alien archaeologists discover the last remaining internet server decades later, after de-encrypting the files from the human language, they translate the final digital words of humanity as "Are they still working on the Citadel part? I heard that it's only going to come out with the Steam release?"

Neat. Looking back I should have seen the similarities between the Vorts and the Grunts. I'm guessing the Vorts were altered by gene therapy and stolen Combine tech to become Grunts at the Nihilanth's bidding. Come to think of it, weren't those white-suited Overwatch Elite guys alleged to be created from fusions of human and Vort DNA?
