Well, tbh, TF2 had the same fate during (9?) years: Do a thing, scrap it, remain forgotten, pick it and try another thing, scrap, forget it, repeat.
But basically what Coffee said.
I think it's been brought up before but isn't the case of HL2 being remade in one year after the leak completely false?
It's bullshit and the only people who believe this crap are the ones who have never actually seen the leak themselves. The entire Old Story involving darker City 17, Depot, AirEx, Borealis, etc was scrapped around a year before the leak and what you see in the leaked build is very similar to the final game even though it's heavy WIP.
Also also also also
Valve learned ALOT from Portal 2, CS:GO, Dota 2, and lets not forget, Team Fortress 2. Any predictions on the nature of Half Life 3 must be made knowing that the company they were in 2007 is not who they are now.
You do NOT make millions off of Hats, and revamp 2 aging IP's into modern Competitive Juggernauts that are turning E-sports into a serious real-world thing without realizing a few things about the nature and goals of your company. You CANNOT effectively re-make L4D with a southern theme in less then a year and release it as a full game without learning a few tricks. You do not pull a "I don't need no Windows 8 or consoles, I'm going to make my own console, with Blackjack. And Hookers." without putting a lot of stock into the project to attempt a paradigm shift in the way PC gaming exists.
Do not assume Valve is the same company committed to the single-player memorable experiences that birthed Half Life 1 and 2, because it has been very clear from their actions that they are not.

i have not played it. why not?
It's not "very very good" but it's still alright if you feel like playing more Portal 2. I mean, what else are your options really?
i have not played it. why not?
Most notable is the comedy and voice acting are pretty bad. The whole premise isn't very good, and the level design while good looking, doesn't play nearly as good as it needs to.
If you're looking for a good Valve quality mod, go back and play Minerva, or Transmissions - Element 120.

Valve quality on Minerva is no joke, the guy that made it is now working at Valve.

The biggest itch for me was that the puzzles were basically 20 variations of "get this cube past that Grid" which essentially made me "ragequit" (in the sense I lost all and any drive to keep going with same boring-ass puzzle core repeated again and again)

Oh certainly, it would be quite difficult to make an exhaustive list.
[editline]2015-09-01[/editline]
Actually, that would be sort of cool, the "Facepunch™ Certified Source Mods and Games".

My experience with mel stories:
-"Nice, more portal! Can't wait to explore the other parts of the facility!"
-"Oh wow, you have to think? Uninstall"

The biggest issue might be which mods still actually work.
I've always wondered how much time there was between the Black Mesa Incident and the Seven Hour war.
Like, how long were the Xenians on earth before the Combine appeared?
Oh man, Transmissions - Element 120 was sooooo good but so short! I want more!
Also, if you are at least semi-competent in rocket jumping in TF2, it will makes things much better for you.
i'm terrible at rocket jumping and I found it really easy, but fun.
wow these people are really desperate

Valve is holding a venue/event in mid-October to announce consumer Vive, as well as the launch titles

I'm really looking forward to Ricochet 2 on the Vive.

one of the launch titles will probably be quiver. to prematurely "crash the hype train" (as if anyone was even on it) L4D3 as a launch title might be ridiculous because why would you play a first-person shooter in VR?
I wonder how left 4 dead would work if a player could control the AI director?

Quiver has already been a playable demo for the Vive (Made by Valve).
Also remember that chet promised big things with the body scanning thing
