I'll just quote myself from the thread in Videos:
Looks like the greenlight trailer for a generic quake wannabe that dies a week after release, it all looks and sounds so limp and flaccid holy shit Didn't expect anything less from the skilled crew behind God Mode and RIPD though
I just bought DOOM on sale. RIP AND TEAR
So I re-bought Doom (4) since it was on sale and Vulkan dropped. Holy shit this game is amazing. I can safely say literally every single problem I had was because lowest settings corrupted or removed all effects and mouse speed is tied 1:1 to framerate. With Vulkan, I went from lowest settings possible@<10 FPS to all Ultra/High (with cache medium), 70% resolution scale, 2160x1080@30-75 FPS. It also means my was assumption was dead-on: My bottleneck was CPU (i5-6400), not GPU (270X). Seriously, never listen to the idiots in the steam forums, they were obviously fanboying nVidia.

I think Quake Champions looks kinda fun but the main part that stuck out as eh looking to me is the gore. Just having enemies explode into that red mist really doesn't look all that satisfying at all.
I bought Wolfenstein NO on the sale, thinking, "I'll probably get few hours of the game until I'll have to go to work. The fucking game is 40GBs, the download is gonna finish just before I'll have to go to work. What the fuck are weapon textures in, 12k resolution per bolt?

I like the maps

Looks literally like UT3 with more colors. The only Quake things I recognized are the jump pads and Anarki.
I don't think it looked slow at all

That looked like the basic Quake 3 movement speed. The only reason it looked slow is because they were only Bhopping at one point in the whole video. The Bhopping speed looked just as fast as it did before, too.

Plus the fact that absolutely nothing in the trailer bunnyhopped except for that one scene, makes me wonder if it's an ability too or something is up with it, but i'm chalking up a lot to being a really bad trailer for the sake of benefit of the doubt.

I really hope its just because its on early phase. Gameplay seems good but eh, i still feel something from Q3 is missing on movement. Also, please change those sound effects, shooting the weapons isn't as nearly as satisfying than on Quake 3
I'm just going to take this opportunity to say that I fucking despise id/Bethesda's marketing teams. They did an absolutely shameful and deplorable job in marketing DOOM, and it seems they're going down the same path, only making it WORSE now. Nobody was talking shit about DOOM before the actual game reveal when we only had those two short trailers, but now people are talking shit about Quake Champions as soon as the Teaser Trailer due to vague understandings of what the game is about, and cryptic non-answers given by one man. I mean, he goes on stage, says "We're going back to the classic arena gameplay!", then announces hero style abilities, and then has to nervously shamble into literally every interview with his first words always being "IT'S NOT LIKE OVERWATCH, IT'S NOT A MOBA!" (not even joking about him having to spurt that out at the beginning of every interview) Making these reveals exclusive isn't going to shield you from getting your game shat on, it's only slightly delaying it, because at some point you're gonna have to show some footage, and people are going to be pissed no matter what it is. And just like with DOOM, it didn't effect the final product at all. It turned out great, it sold well, etc. So the fact that they aren't just being up-front this time and showing people the game, and instead going with the exclusivity and eventually, most likely, very misleading trailers, gameplay demos, and marketing again, makes me absolutely fucking livid. /end rant
Indeed. It was a similar thing for Wolf: TNO, where I ended up poo-pooing it a little thanks to what appeared to be regenerating health. This being before I knew that it had a pretty neat segmented regen system (regenerating up to the next multiple of 20) along with being able to Overcharge! by eating health items while above max HP, which left me with century egg on my face. (the kind that someone shrink-wraps and sends to Stuart Ashen)
Unless it gets confirmed that bhop is limited to a class or some bs, the speed looks fine. Quake is not all that fast unless you exploit the movement mechanics
This looks really, really clumsy. I find it funny they're hyping it up with " Pure skill " and " Pure speed " when the gameplay looks slow as fuck, plus the addition of character abilities makes it not pure skill since all characters aren't equal
God damn dude, do you moonlight as The Flash or something?
I can confirm that at the moment you cannot use the DLC character customisation parts in snap-map (even if you have the DLC). Maybe it'll be something that will get patched in, maybe not.
If I had only watched trailers for the new Unreal Turnament, you could of told me the Quake Champions footage was UT and I'd probably believe it.
Did somebody say Quake? [t]http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/494653449997584504/24378EFADEE8EDB9B7D46EC566212F46C7108691/[/t]

pros: -strafejumping -hit honks cons: -abilities are op and obvious -no weapon pickups -two-weapon loadouts -slow is this what gets winners now? you tune peoples expectations to inhumanly low levels so that when you show mediocre gameplay it seems good?
"-slow" is subjective, and how do we know there's two weapon limits and no weapon pickups?
cons: -abilities are op and obvious -no weapon pickups -two-weapon loadouts -slow is this what gets winners now? you tune peoples expectations to inhumanly low levels so that when you show mediocre gameplay it seems good?
The lead designer confirmed that weapons are picked up in the arenas and there's no loadouts. It's a tad bit suspicious that there is not a single moment in the trailer where you see someone swap weapons more than once, but it ultimately does not mean much. Promo footage for quake 3 also didn't show tons of weapon swapping so it means jack shit.
Not liking these character-specific things at all. Sounds like a huge balancing issue. Plus, I may want to look like one character but I'm not really digging their ability at all, what I'm supposed to do then? They really shouldn't mess with arena shooter formula that is tried and true to ride an overrated 'special snowflake characters in multiplayer' trend everyone's so fond of. It could technically work with team-based gameplay, sure, but IMO, all characters must play equal in order to be able to go toe-to-toe with anyone in free-for-all competitive deathmatch.
Something about the way the trailer is built makes me think it's DOOM Multiplayer: The Game. There's apparently no loadouts but character abilities still strike me as a suspicious addition. The sound is also rather lackluster, like someone accidentally left the bass out but it's probably the fault of the bad trailer composition. I also hope the game doesn't end up being 20-60GB again because it's wasteful and how the frick do they even manage to do that?

Got too used to playing on a 144hz monitor with a 160 FoV doing speedruns of Quake all the time?
i'm bettng there will be a classic mode with no character abilities

I just wish they'd price these MP only things better. A game with MP by itself shouldn't ever be more than $20, $30 tops. CSGO has the right idea of making the game really cheap.
From what people told me, I thought I'd hate the new DLC weapon for DOOM. However, it's closing in on being my favourite weapon. At the least, it is perfect for telling snipers to fuck off and for general mid/long range tenderizing.
