It's got b-hopping and people are calling it slow.
Just...
I don't understand how it being slow is in contention here?
bring up any video of q3 or ql side by side and it obviously has slower base movement. this isn't subjective
It isn't objectively slow, it's your perception of it that's having it look slow.
I look at it and while yes, I don't see it as being as fast paced as the originals, it's not slow either.
It's got b-hopping and people are calling it slow.

I really think we should wait for unedited gameplay footage before any real assessment of the speed.
For all we know, trailer could have been deliberately slowed down, so people who don't possess god-like reactions and visual parsing can actually watch it without having to do a double-take.
Besides, nowadays trailers tend to lie, spoil and embellish to the point it's safer to not make any assuptions.
It's got b-hopping and people are calling it slow.

It had bunnyhopping for a single scene in the entire trailer. The rest of it was running around at slow ground speeds and some jumping and rocketjumping that wasn't exactly the pinnacle of fast either. Plus while I imagine bunnyhopping would be normal, they could very well make it an ability or prevent certain characters (like the large ones) from doing it or something dumb like that.

I just wish they would make smaller and cheaper action figures because I don't want to have to pay $260 to have Doomguy on display on my shelf.
I just wish they'd price these MP only things better. A game with MP by itself shouldn't ever be more than $20, $30 tops. CSGO has the right idea of making the game really cheap.
Official word on Quake Champions monetization last I heard is "We don't know, we're making the game before we decide how to sell it".
i'm bettng there will be a classic mode with no character abilities
Someone told me there would be "classic" mode in DooM 4 MP.
Well, whoops, no such luck. Even after bazillion patches.
I am highly skeptical they will do something like this.
Most likely casual gamers will greet it with open arms, sales go through the roof and oldschool and hardcore games will receive a spit in their face because who cares about oldtimers?
I called it then by the way.

Seems like a standard price to me.

At the least, it is perfect for telling snipers to fuck off.
Sniping in DOOM MP is mostly redundant anyway, those who do snipe get instantly get their K:D Ratio fucked. I might bite on the DLC but £11.99 is a bit much.

The base movement speed looks about the same as in Quake 3 actually, perhaps just a tad bit slower, but nowhere near "slow".
The FOV isn't stupidly high either meaning the impression of speed is also a bit more limited than how most people played Quake 3, which was with a fairly high FOV.
They even show rocket jumping and bunny hopping and the guy actually goes pretty fast in the latter. The fuck do you expect them to show, Quake Done Quickest style corner rocket jumping into perfect bunny hopping sequences for five minutes just to show how fast the game is ?
I'm personally just saying that the speeds in the trailer seemed comparable to what you'd see in standard video game trailers; slow movement speed by gamepad to make sure most viewers aren't disoriented.
Honestly the gameplay looks pretty decent but I'd have 1000x more interest in another quality singleplayer game over a quake 3 reboot.
The maps are case in point with what they could've done with the lovecraftian theme.

Let's just remember that they haven't delivered on any of the things that Marty talked about.
Server browser, private matches, changeable settings, etc.
What's even better is that most of these were already perfectly functional in the leaked Alpha. :v:

Remember when Doom 4 came out and just like its first E3 trailer movement was at the incredible breakneck speed of a brisk afternoon powerwalk just as everyone had feared?

To be honest I've expressed this before as well. Id's marketing team is garbage.
So will all the new DLC weapons always be in Snapmap, or is it a limited time thing? It's cool that they allowed the new pistol into people's maps, I hope it stays there and we get to try out the other new ones as well.
Have anyone played this game called Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch? And what about the latest version? Can it be considered a retro FPS?
Considering that it practically begun as Doom 2 mod, yes, yes it can be.
This map got stupidly big in such a short time. Already broke 20k sidedefs and the map's supposedly be moderately fast.
Oh well.
I should really take notes from Scythe...

yeah, doom looked like shit in the original media. people complained, and they improved it
that means we're not allowed to critique anything now until we've played 20 hours of the released game :downs:
Messing around with more textures (Made more detailed than the sprites so that sprites stand out more), got text to work in-game with proper depth sorting and lighting calculations, and I made a devlog thing on GameJolt for daily updates (Of varying length and detail)

throw in some big boss AAAAAAAAAAAAs in there for good measure
Well, if it's show and tell time, here's what I've been working on.

that green armor pickup looks cool
those shockwaves really add to the explosions
no more chainsaw prodding, yay. the sideways slash looks kinda silly and slow, boo. or maybe it looks silly because it's slow
also the barrel 'blood' and floor scorch marks are a nice touch

I'm always impressed by the acceleration of technology and how much "more" a single person can mod the original Doom to be with the computers of today.
