Don't Seraphim have six wings?
Angel of Vengeance smiting the spawn of Hell or something like that.
The whole factor of the [sp]Night Sentinels that the Doom Slayer was formerly a part of, who all got slaughtered alongside the fact that his original planet of Argent D'naur or whatever was taken over by Hell as well. Doomguy looks human from his face beneath the helmet, but the implications leave things ambiguous as to whether he's from an alternate universe or just a world Hell took over, or whether he was just a member of that group and became ultra destructive when they died. You could suppose that the original Doomguy may have founded that order during his Hell containment or he himself became a member and happened to be the last survivor. Again.[/sp]
It's written so it could be an entirely new character or an ambiguous return so that if they make a sequel, they can do as they please probably.
For all we know, the Doom Slayer could be some sort of space elf underneath that helmet.
Wouldn't be surprised if the Night Sentinels were just fallen UAC marines that woke up in Hell like Doomguy. Though I'm probably completely wrong.

Someone ripped his head model, he has almost exactly the same facial structure as BJ Blazkowicz.

Huh, that's kinda neat, and makes sense in a weird way. We have a picture or that or anything?
then again, doomguys mugshot isn't far from BJ's from wolf3d
Like I said. Makes sense in a weird way.
Mayhaps BJ is just an incarnation of doomguy in another life and reality.
why does nudoomguy even have a head model
why does nudoomguy even have a head model
Why hide it when the only 'main' iteration of the Marine they never showed the face of was 64's - and that one's meant to be the original Doomguy anyway?
iunno just seems unnecessary

Is there an image of that?

Makes sense. Doomguy is supposed to be a descendant of B.J. right?

Eh, I don't think he looks like BJ, hes looks like an generic american badass.
I think someone made a side by side comparison of the Doom Slayer's face and the BJ's TNO portrait and they lined up almost perfectly.
So make of that what you will.
[editline]27th August 2016[/editline]
You know, he actually kind of looks like Ron Perlman.
They might have just reused BJ's face from TNO to save time.
I don't think they're the same. BJ's face in The New Order / The Old Blood had more of a pronounced, angular jaw combined with more general wear and wrinkles on his face. The latter of that may just be texture work on the original model, but yeah, I can see it as being a relative or younger perhaps on Doomguy's side.
Creating a face is not a gargantuan task
Especially when it doesn't even need to be animated.

Bear in mind that we probably weren't even meant to see the face properly in the first place- odds are it's quite generic just so that there's something there.
Wasn't it established in the Wolf 3D manual and the RPG spinoff games that BJ, Commander Keen, and Doomguy and are all descendants of one another?

That's what I was getting at with the "makes sense in a weird way" thing. I wasn't so sure, since it was spinoff stuff, but apparently it's still a thing.
But yeah. Apparently boy genius Billy Blaze (Commander Keen) is the grandson of B.J Blazkowicz, through Blazko's post-war son (Arthur Blazkowicz?), and there's a Sergeant Stan Blazkowicz in the Doom RPG series, alleged to be a distant descendant or something.
Thinking about all of this, if iD ever did a new Commander Keen, how would they go about it, in an age when 2D indie platformers are ten-a-penny?
Thinking about all of this, if iD ever did a new Commander Keen, how would they go about it, in an age when 2D indie platformers are ten-a-penny?
Ever since Doom 1 became successful, Id have been way more comfortably exploring dark, gory subject matter. Adrian Carmack really, really didn't seem to have much fun drawing all those EGA cartoon character sprites, and even as recently as Doom 3 the old Id saw that series as something that should probably be kept in the past as a pleasant memory.
That probably hasn't changed with New Id, per-se, but given the Doom 4 cameos and Keen recently popping up in a blind-box figurine set, we can't really say "never" anymore...
the head is nothing new, the visor is not fully opaque:

so you know it's human but everyone should know it's pointless to speculate on assets that are never meant to be seen
I can't tell if he has a faint moustache or if that's just a shadow.
I imagine a modern Commander Keen game would be a 3D platformer with a tone similair to Adventure Time, present day has a kind of fun light tone but theres hints at a darker history thats never fully explored and is related to BJ and Doomguy
Eh, I don't think he looks like BJ, hes looks like an generic american badass.
no, you mean generic interdimensional vengeful, rampaging badass

I'd be game for that.
But what kind of 3D platformer are we talking about here? We talking a more directed PlayStation-style, a'la Ratchet & Clank, Jak & Daxter and Sly Cooper? Or are we talking a more open and freeform Nintendo 64-style, a'la Banjo-Kazooie, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Super Mario 64?

What's up with the model on the left page, and the head in the middle?
It's like some bizarro TNO BJ. Kind of weird looking, actually...
