20 dollars are you fucking serious Gearbox.
Megaton edition cost 8.99 when it came out, and that included three extra expansions, all of them altered to support multiplayer better. Fuck you Randy, fuck you Gearbox, I ain't giving you this much money. Go choke on your Stillborn game instead.
The worst thing is that the levels themselves will probably be good, as will the music. Shame it's behind such a terrible fucking paywall.
So you're from the future? You've played it? Please tell us more.
I guess I should reserve judgement for actually playing it (if I ever do), but several things seem very off from the video alone.
View height, FOV, and the lighting all seem messed up. I wouldn't be surprised if the FOV has been fucked with since this is a re-release aimed towards consoles as well.
I'll be gladly proved wrong, but I will bet you money that Megaton and E-Duke will both be far superior ports.

I hope this gets boycotted to the grave.

Straight from the store page

really hoping bethesda eventually buys out gearbox or something.
gearbox dose not deserve Duke Nukem.

Give it a few weeks until the maps/music are ripped and ported into E-Duke.
I'm not shoveling a cent into Randy's shit-stained maw.

The Levels are guaranteed to be backported to the older engines
:ninja:
In other news, Shadow Warrior 1997 is now free on GOG

That's been free on Steam for ages iirc, and unfortunately it's not the classic redux. I might try it out though once I bet the rest of Doom.
I'm not interested really in Duke Nukem but it's awful to hear that the Megaton addition was pulled just to sell a version with 8 new levels...

i mean, if they used the old mapping tools and not even something like Duke Plus, then I can see it
but if the weird and strangely inflated requirements are anything to go by, they may have fucked with the engine royally in ways i didn't think were possible
i'm going to shake my head in shame if this port can't run at 60 FPS on PS4 when the 360/PS3 version did

Give him to Wild Flying Hog. Those guys know how to treat characters like Duke.
-it was a joke i guess-
what? how? how is a red cross offensive? i googled it and could not find anything.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic.
This whole thing is kinda embarrassing.
But the most important aspect to take away from all this, I'm sure you all agree, is Duke's bid for the presidency. The thing is, can he expect to beat a Clinton in 2016 when he couldn't in 1996?

World Tour for Windows only on PC. My sadness and disappointment are enormous.
The new duke voices didn't really sound bad, just a little quieter. Like he wasn't raising his voice
The new duke voices didn't really sound bad, just a little quieter. Like he wasn't raising his voice
They sound almost as monotone as Duke can get.
Like Jon just wasn't feeling it, combined with the fact that as he got older, somehow the pitch got higher.

It's amazing how everything in that statement is still completely relevant right now.
My one problem with eduke is no MP/coop.
I got megaton and right before my friends got it gearbox pulled it from the store.
So basically if i want coop i gotta pay 20 on top of what i payed for megaton which is now useless to me since they pulled it before my friends could get it
I think I paid only like $5 overall for megaton edition on both PS3 and Steam. I also got Atomic Edition free that one time on GOG.
$20 for just a new episode, higher system requirements and re-recorded duke talk
yeah no
Gearbox can't just get away with this shit. Seriously, how much evil shit have they already done? Next you'll be telling me they threatened to sue Jon if he didn't voice for this.
i don't even know what i'd do if it releases next month and has performance issues, console or PC
it's a 20 year old game but i really expect them to fuck it up
It's a 20 years old game that needs 2gb of ram according to system requirements, so expect literally anything.
what a fucking embarassment
It's so sad because you can tell that Jon has so much passion, and he loves voice acting, but he's just sounded so dead inside this whole time.
He knows exactly what's happening. I so badly want to give him another proper Duke to play one day.
It's a 20 years old game that needs 2gb of ram according to system requirements, so expect literally anything.
Can't wait for the Mega Drive version to run way better
okay im exaggerating, but when you can currently get a pretty similar deal on PS1 for under $10 (Direct PC port with an exclusive episode) gearbox better have the decency of having it run well.
maybe i'm really stupid but I don't see anything wrong with duke nukem world tour.
I don't pay attention to randy pitchford or gearbox so I guess i'm unbiased. the project seems alright. the voice seems fine (maybe the older recording tech makes you think it sounded better before?)
if there's any issue I would be bothered with, it's this sort of newish trend with trying to revive old legendary games and sell them for money. It's kind of cringey but I suppose people like it.
Price does seem a little high but I wouldn't exactly wish people dead over it.
the voice seems fine (maybe the older recording tech makes you think it sounded better before?)
The performance is lacking something that can't quite be quantified. Enthusiasm, I guess? Maybe it lacks voice direction beyond "just imitate these old VOC files"? Either way, it just doesn't feel quite right, especially since all the other sounds in the game still seem to be 8khz.
The levels look nice, and it's good to see the old guard back at it again, but given the bizarrely high system requirements and the somewhat gaudy "enhancements" to the old visuals, I'll wait for a sale.
It's a 20 years old game that needs 2gb of ram according to system requirements, so expect literally anything.
I expect all of these new audio files and any other assets they're implemementing are unnecessarily "HD" and are really uncompressed.
It's a 20 years old game that needs 2gb of ram according to system requirements, so expect literally anything.
i looked into the recommended system requirements after someone pointed something out and I looked into its comparisons against Crysis' recommended specs
Crysis:
Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.2GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary World Tour:
Processor: Intel Core i3-530 (2*2930) or equivalent AMD Phenom x4 9850 (4*2500) or equivalent
this port of a 20 year old game, when on 'their' True3D engine at least, somehow has more of a CPU demand than Crysis according to Gearbox
