Downloaded Trailblazer and I'm about to hit up Russian Overkill. Doom 2016 was my first Doom game and this is certainly the oldest game I've played for a larger amount of time, before that it was old Heroes RPGs from the late 90s. Is it just assumed that every mod enables mouselook? Tbh I can't imagine playing without it. And thanks for the advice on mods guys, I really appreciate it. [editline]20th September 2016[/editline] So I downloaded Russian Overkill and Nuts.wad and figured out how to set them up not knowing what I was getting into.
"Okay, lot's of Russian. Three characters? Okay... what are even these difficulties? In I go! Wonder what it's going-" [t]http://imgur.com/LRA7ysl.jpg[/t] "Oh no." [t]http://imgur.com/bVMV40c.jpg[/t] "Oh my God what's happening everything is dying I'm getting three FPS help" [t]http://imgur.com/kYTkIze.jpg[/t] "Cyka blyat we have split the atom comrade, glory to the motherland!" [t]http://imgur.com/CcfVVgx.jpg[/t] "Comrade I don't even know what his gun is doing. I think it has ripped open the universe." [t]http://imgur.com/g7aARRq.jpg[/t] "Oh... I did it... I did it. Oh God. Just one more to go. Done. Time to hit his button and end the-" [t]http://imgur.com/KuBfHTj.jpg[/t]
3 frames per second per minute, wow.
That's not an incorrect statement really
uh oh
Can't tell if this is serious or not. Seriously, with all the bullshit we have nowadays it's hard to tell.
Can't tell if this is serious or not. Seriously, with all the bullshit we have nowadays it's hard to tell.
It was a joke. I was playing Doom 2 on UV for the first time and got crushed by a ceiling on Map 19 that I knew was there, so I made that tweet as a goof. Nearly a month later Sandy found it and I feel shame for my words and deeds.
Really want to play through the game again but I'm probably going to wait until Arcade drops so that I can go all speedy through the game without all the story bits again.
Not sure if it counts as a retro FPS (Sorry if it isn't) but I've finally finished Goldeneye 64 for the first time. Mouse and Keyboard, 60 FPS and widescreen sure made it an incredible experience. I have to admit I think its soundtrack maybe one of the best ever conceived for an FPS. (If somewhat controversially in my head above Doom's.)

I only experienced slowdowns in some areas but I'd wager that has more to do with N64 emulation in general being shit than the tools I'm using.
Anyone else get some really weird rendering fuckups when using Vulkan? Certain things like lights, textures, etc seem to get especially fucky and broken when using it. Not to mention that for whatever reason, Vulkan makes my computer heat up into a smoldering crisp and makes the game chug like crazy almost immediately, while my PC stays really cool and the game runs buttery smooth with the exception of a few large areas under OpenGL.

Basically, in the version I played on GameTap, all the voices were sped up and high-pitched, like if Dr Vattic and Co were chipmunks. Except in cutscenes, which were probably pre-rendered and pre-recorded.
I feel like it's overrated. It's fun but something about it feels... Unfinished.
I wish he'd come back to work on it more. Do you play with the Badass Enemies addon? http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=36968 It adds a bunch of enemies and some new items.

I just tried it, GE and PD both control like a dream with mouse and keyboard. It's almost like playing a lost PC-native version or something.

I think had it been ported to PC somehow it would of been an immediate success, mouse and keyboard doesn't cheapen the game at all.
Kind of interesting how a few of the Goldeneye levels are tied to the framerate, like Train. It's actually easier on the N64 than it is on the emulator :v:
I didn't really notice anything that was too far off, other than the cursor staying on the screen in fullscreen mode.
The movement feels a bit more floaty than it naturally should be with a mouse. Again its only minor and it never gave me any issues but it was something to bear in mind.
Anyone know what the most performance taxing settings in DOOM '16 are? Since release I've still had no luck figuring out why the game consistently shits itself in the FPS department here and there on my PC, but I'm guessing it must just be my i5-3 CPU.

I am running Vulkan max settings on a Phenom X4 @ 4.0Ghz and a GTX1060. Try lowering your textures, then your shadows, turn off AA and reflections as well. Its been awhile since I played on my GTX460 but I remember those being performance killers.

I've heard reports of people with nearly identical PC specs to me getting 80-100 frames in the game without flaw. The game tends to run relatively smoothly, but Argent Tower and the larger arenas of Kadingir absolutely slaughter my FPS for whatever reason. And as I mentioned before, Vulkan just makes the game stutter a bit, and sets my PC on fire.
I also have a 970, but I can get 60 fps no problem with all settings maxed at 1080p except for shadows and texture cache which are set to ultra (nightmare tanks performance quite a bit, and the differences are so subtle it's not worth it anyway).

The GTX700 line had issues with the game but the GTX900 series should be fine. I assume by "I5-3" you mean an i5 3600k or whatever, which should be more than powerful enough to handle the game. I can't think of much else besides checking your drivers, uninstall and clean install them. I don't use things like Geforce experience so maybe try uninstalling it.
More screenshots and a description of the new levels of the [del]Bazinga Nukem[/del] Alien World Order episode that's included in the World Tour edition of Duke 3D have been released: http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/2016/09/a-look-at-the-new-duke-nukem-maps-with-allen-h-blum-iii-and-richard-levelord-gray/ A lot of the art assets and sprites seem to be new, and the level design looks good. Also of note is that you can see the new enemy type (Firefly) in one of the screenshots, as well as the new Final Boss (a recolor unfortunately, which sucks). It also appears that the mini-Overlord and the mini-Cycloid have been made functional for the expansion, perhaps there's also a mini-Queen in one of the maps. Finally you can see that the Flamethrower ammunition pickup is literally a badly recolored version of the Freezethrower one. Here's the most important screenshots in question: [T]http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/hollywood-inferno-creature-feature.png[/T] [T]http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/golden-carnage-tunnel.png[/T] [T]http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/hollywood-inferno-the-hills.png[/T] Oh yeah and one of the 8 maps is a secret level. That's about the most important information.

Try seeing if your vid card's power mode in global 3d settings is set to adaptive or optimal, and if it is switch it to prefer maximum performance

[t]http://www.gearboxsoftware.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/golden-carnage-sub.png[/t] The golden gate bridge level actually looks pretty cool, flat lamp posts aside. I always like any kinda bridge maps and I don't think I've seen many (if any?) In duke 3d. But aside from that, you'd think for a fucking 20 dollar price tag they could get some art guys to do better for a boss than a cycloid recolor. I mean DNF 2013, a free mod, made a new boss by hacking together pieces of existing boss sprites and it looked more professional than that.

[editline]21st September 2016[/editline] Has there been any updates on that Doom Builder portal thingy?

Thanks a ton. It's helped a lot, actually.
