Sounds like my old PC.
how do i remove dev mode from my save?
Why is it that out of all the demons, I have the most trouble with the fucking possessed security guys, aka, shield fuckers.
I can juke around hellknights, barons are no issue, and even pinkies are manageable. But the second a shield guy shows up, my shit gets wrecked.
My grenades don't seem to have an effect most of the time, and getting close to them is practically a death sentence because their weapons just shred my armor and health. And they always show up when I'm fighting the tougher enemies, so they constantly annoy me. It's gotten to the point where if I see a couple of them, I just take out the gauss rifle and shoot them because I don't want to deal with their bullshit.
Granted, I am playing on Nightmare difficulty, so maybe below that, they're just complete pansies.

Use the stun attachment on the Plasma gun. Guy I watched doing Ultra-Nightmare used it and it disables their shields

Use the combat shotgun's explosive shot to blast just behind them or to their sides. They will stagger about and their shield will move to the side, giving you the ability to shoot them in the front.
Another way of dealing with them is to spam the HAR's micro-missiles at them which will overwhelm their shields pretty quickly.
Plasma gun's stun blast is also another alternative. Stun them and then re-position to attack them from behind.
I had issues with the shield bastards as well as their shields could take quite a beating and would regen quickly if you didn't exploit it when it was down.

here it is. didn't find a way to get out prior to the keycard unfortunately.

Can't believe I was so oblivious to this idea. I guess because I conditioned myself to only use that mod on the bigger enemies.
I'll try it out next time I play the game. Thanks.

I'm calling it now.
Quake reboot showcased in Quakecon '19, public announcement in E3 '20, released sometime around 2020. 2021 at the latest.
damn nightmare is tough. going to be one hell of a ride
Although I wouldn't mind a Heretic reboot. Shooting and dismembering gargoyles, mummies, iron liches and maulotaurs, all in glorious Doom '16 style, would be amazing.

I honestly think with all the stuff nowadays, Heretic and Hexen could make for a cool new revisioned series. Heretic was basically Dark Fantasy Doom anyway, and Hexen was.. well, some people have fond memories for Hexen, but I liked Strife way more than Hexen. Its "something has changed at the seven portals" and "you've unlocked one third of the puzzle" crap drives you slowly insane, and I think gameplay like Dark Messiah of Might & Magic would actually be really fucking cool for a Hexen reboot.

Yup, if they ever choose to revamp either of those franchises, I'd go with Heretic first.
As for Hexen... one of these days, when I feel masochistic enough, I might soldier on and try to finish it, just to say "I fucking hated the puzzles but I beat Hexen, damnit" :v:
quake 3 2 is what's missing in my life

the more you guys keep talking about it the itch to load up my GZDoom projects grows stronger.
I hope (but I really doubt it) that if there are any more reboots or sequels of classic Id games, that there will at least be some formal mod support beyond a map maker.
The thought of an Id game without mod support really makes my innards hurt. :dead:
Wait, if they *ever* go the "Quake reboot" route, there's also Inner Chains somewhere down the line...

If anything, we need more Heretic and Hexen megaWADs. Curse of D'sparil is really good.
In the right hands, Heretic and/or Hexen could be fantastic. Do eet!
The animations look a lot like skyrim for some reason
Everybody bitches about hexen but I like it. I think in Hexen 2 especially the weapons are creative enough to keep the game interesting, and the puzzles aren't just switch hunts. Also its a great co-op game.

Heretic has that awful damage spread that just makes the game feel so squishy though.
Hexen, on the other hand, I'd kill for some absurd 2016-esq absurd quality/color-design megawads though.
Well, there's Brutal Hexen coming soon...
[editline]20th May 2016[/editline]
That's gonna cause a ripple effect and people will maybe gain a new interest on the game.
So I've just beat DOOM and [sp]that spider mastermind boss battle was awesome. As soon as I saw those white long legs I realised what's up. And yeah, will wait for that DLC which continues campaign. it is coming, right?[/sp]
SnapMap is fun to play.
And multiplayer sucks.
Really hope if they make a new quake it has nothing to do with quake 3.
I appreciate quake 3 for what it is but I honestly would have rathered it been a sequel to quake 1 or 2 and just make a separate arena shooter.
I liked multiplayer when it was my only way to play Doom 4(through the beta) but now that the full game is out it's the worst part in my opinion.
It's not terrible it's just...there. I'd rather play snapmap and replay campaign.
I think the Multiplayer can really come together if they make some critical changes, fix the balance issues (Chaingun OP as fuck), add Deathmatch, CTF and Arena DM, and add in the private match + bots they removed from alpha, you could legit play snapmap maps in full MP.
Someday I'll figure out who the fuck okay'd this. Because quite frankly MP and Snapmap feel unfinished.
if it werent for subtitles id have no idea that [sp]vega was saying he regrets what happened just before being offed[/sp]
He does? I missed that then.

Hexen's only real problem is the switch hunting and those obnoxious shield guys. I loved the concept of it, and all of the classes are pretty fun to play. The maps even get better once you get past that first initial switchhunt hub, though I wish someone would make something just as big but with less puzzle emphasis. Do people even make Hexen maps?

They both feel tacked on. I feel like they honestly only even added MP because Doom is expected to have it. I'd rather it only have Snapmap, with all the time, money and effort of MP poured into it.
I'll definitely be interested in giving MP a try again once they implement the supposed "classic" mode they've been talking about. Especially if that mode results in no weapon loadouts and weapons actually being placed around the map. That should definitely help with balance and variety, because instead of players just starting with a chain gun and super shotty, they'll have to actually work to get them.
Don't think I'd stick with it long though, due to it relying on paid DLCs for future content. If only the MP was as open as most Source games, with custom servers that have custom maps and potentially even custom game modes. If that was the case, I'd probably never drop it.
If SnapMap was ever extended on PC to allow for higher player counts and demon spawns, I think I'd also be in heaven.
He does? I missed that then.
He says something along the lines of [sp]"And for the records, I regret most of the things that have transgressed here"[/sp]
The only way to fix MP is to get rid of "hack modules", weapon loadouts and demon runes.
And bring back classic deathmatch.
Vega: [sp]Needs miles of machinery to cool him down to absolute zero from multiples times the temperature of the sun just so he can run, can be backed up on a USB drive[/sp]
[sp]That's probably Vega in "Running the complete UAC complex mode on Mars". If he's just used as a Data query program, he must have a really massive database of information. Hell, something the size of that card when you pull it out can already reach 2-4 TBs in real life, and that's in 2016. They'll probably play something along the line of Vega personality, but with amnesia/learns from your actions to become the perfect symbiosis killing machine for Doom Guy.
I'm just imagining Vega getting emotions akin to wrath and getting hyped over killing demons, and it makes me chuckle [/sp]

And mix it with snapmap so all snapmap maps can be loaded seamlessly into a custom MP lobby, and you can finally create multiplayer map worth a damn.
