I wonder when the Painkiller franchise will finally get out of Limbo.
It's been stuck on the exact same game since its original release and all that's come out since then, apart from "Battle out of Hell", are several pseudo-expansions and a cut-down DLC ridden remake that wants to sell the rest of the original levels to you for a quick buck.
No, Overdose was okay. Not as good as Black, but not as broken as the rest. It's not unplayable or broken, just very amateur-polished. Give it a try though.
Overdose was probably the most okay of the standalone expansions. It wasn't great but it wasn't absolute shit.
The one that is bad is pretty much Painkiller Resurrection. Overdose is ok.
Overdose came out after BooH and is the only good standalone.
At least it has mostly new stuff.
THQ Noridc just released Painkiller Overdose to GOG and holy shit at the discount

Damn that and Destroy All Humans, I'm hoping they will release an official fix to Red Faction.

But isn't Destroy all Humans console only?
Wasn't Overdose one of the bad ones?
For ~$2, it's pretty good. Although, there isn't much thata not worth $2.
the funny part about the sounds being muffled is that they work fine for ps4
how do you manage to fuck up this badly
When it comes to Gearbox and the Duke franchise it's just mistake after mistake after mistake.

The new Duke 3d episode and music wasn't a mistake though.

Selling it for twenty bucks was.

I wonder. Which company would make the best use of the IP if it were torn from Gearbox's grasp?
The new Duke 3d episode and music wasn't a mistake though.
Are you sure it wasn't a mistake to let the makers of Borderlands 1's final boss be responsible for the new Duke 3D final boss?

Croteam, Flying Wild Hog, Machine Games.
I was thinking Flying Wild Hog, although Shadow Warrior 2 gave me a few doubts. They could probably nail the humour, Lo Wang stands as testament to that, but Duke wouldn't really need loot, even if the gem system in Shadow Warrior 2 was a grave mistake.
Croteam, Flying Wild Hog, Machine Games.
I think of these three I'd prefer Croteam. They can obviously nail the macho-as-fuck-and-carrying-20-guns character, they've got the versatile-as-hell Serious Engine (in case we've got some three mile high pigcop to kill), and if they felt like it, I'm sure they could implement coop in the flick of a wrist.

While Croteam is obviously my go-to choice as well, something Duke fans wanted is a true return to old style FPS with old style levels (keycards, slight non-linearity, etc) instead of Serious Sam's linear closed-door arenas. Aside from a few levels in Serious Sam Origins, Croteam has yet to prove their proficiency in that aspect of level design.
Also, Serious Engine is terrible at handling small/realistic-scaled levels like the ones from HL1/HL2.

Serious Sam and Duke Nukem are two different games. Who's to say they'll keep the Serious Sam-styled levels for a Duke Nukem game?

The early levels of SS3 seem to run fine.

That's the point, they might go for DN3D-styled levels, which is something they haven't really touched on outside of SSO.
Also, have you explored any of the apartment buildings in SS3, such as the one at the beginning and the one with the classic outfit? They're a pain to navigate and it just doesn't feel right, unlike those done in other engines. Serious Engine's strongest point is large levels, but at the cost is the ability to handle complex small areas.

Might as well let them try. It's hypothetical in any case.

I haven't played the game in a bit but it felt fine to me last I checked. The worst thing I can remember about it was like, inability to stand on rebar without falling off or something like that.

I don't know why, but I felt the need to play this and it's actually really good. Lots of interesting areas and the difficulty was just right. Totally worth a play if you have an hour to kill :v:

Anyone know why Doom 4 was being outsourced and who "won" the commission?
Wait, so SS3 was actually Doom 4 before being scrapped?
I think is a mix of the Doom demo content they made and a military game that was cancelled. They took all that scraped stuff they had and from there, Croteam made Serious Sam 3.

I'm sorry but why is this huge collage using images of that god-awful "Doom Hi-res 8x sprites" project from 2011 that never went anywhere?
This one:

I remember seeing this thread 5 years ago when I was still browsing the ZDoom forums regularly and the guy working on it kept redrawing the exact same imp face dozens of times.
People kept telling him that it wouldn't work out but it kept going on and on and on. And every single time it looked fucking awful, I mean look at this:

it all makes sense now :mysterysolved:
Thankfully Doom 4 got made.
Holy fuck SS3 is a mishmash of quality.
