Christ I wish I hadn't found that thread again. [T]http://i.imgur.com/foqBm.png[/T] I'm gonna have nightmares
Croteam, Flying Wild Hog, Machine Games.
Machine Games is the only developer that I think could properly nail Duke, as long as they had some different writers just for the game. Then again, I'd actually kind of like the see serious, introspective, philosophical Duke that's just a wash-up.

Duke still thinks he's hot shit and played for comedy, as the world's moved on and thinks he's irrelevant. Make a whole story about him rising up past expectations to still kick some alien ass and all that jazz, maybe show Duke is his boastful and brash hardass self externally but internally he's more than a bit cynical at being a forgotten icon. And his whole character is pretty much trying to be an icon rather than a hero, so maybe he makes some rather questionable choices. It'd be a self-aware and entirely relevant way after what happened with Forever, but Gearbox (and George at 3D Realms) act like he's still the biggest badass ever made that everyone should care about even to today.
For better or worse, we have more footage of DUSK now. Yeah I know Jim Sterling made a video as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAeSoBwTUks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTm7cF4yILM
My copy of Spectre arrived, and so far it's 2nd best SNES shooter IMO (1st being Wolfenstein) The multiplayer is fun as fuck, even if a custom tank with maxed out speed is OP in CTF.
If only speaking hypothetically I'd give Duke Nukem to Valve, they've got perfect writers for Duke revival, he's not that far off from the Soldier in TF2 comics.
No thank you, Duke was already in limbo for 15 years.
But isn't Destroy all Humans console only?
Is Destroy All Humans retro? Regardless, I want that on PC more than anything.

And I thought trying to balance out my ammo and resources was tough enough in the main campaign, Arcade Mode is even more intensive with how you have to efficiently maximize your score deliberately through numerous medals and score continuation. It's nice that pickups help keep it going, but it still keeps you tight for time by trying to not drop the combo. Rocket Launcher Detonator mastery left, maxed my Suit upgrades, and only a handful of secrets and challenges to go. Rune grinding on the other hand is probably something i'll hold off on. Not sure how the fuck i'm gonna get a Lost Soul to kill another on Titan's Realm. Also apparently I missed some log(s) somewhere, and since the game doesn't tell you which ones you're missing, that'll be a real pain. Meanwhile, multiplayer is nowhere near as frustrating as it was on the consoles, but I still feel.. inept.
Is Destroy All Humans retro?
It isn't an FPS
no thanks, dnf tried to mix dukes character with the world and it failed miserably not just because of the dumb memes or anything but because duke as a character works best standalone and any type of self awareness usually comes from the player, not from the rest of the world hammering in what you should/shouldnt feel about the character
I guess that's a good point, I just utterly hate this idea that everyone on Earth is retarded except for the narcissistic jackass that has women and his ego on the mind first over saving the world itself, and the only people that give him shit die horribly, are a Gears of War parody, or are evil (and probably die horribly)
Are the paid MP DLCs any good?
How's the arcade mode? Any good?
How's the arcade mode? Any good?
It's not perfect, but it's pretty neat. And really tough to get a good score on. Streamlines the cutscene/story fat from the bones and wants you to go kill the shit out of everything as stylishly and efficiently as possible. I guess my best comparison is like making a Tony Hawk Pro Skater run out of a level, except instead of a timer, you try to rush to the end and kill everything along the way with pickups being your way to keep a combo going.
I hate to be that guy, but did id Software just slip a hint at the next DOOM game? On the shelf in your "room" at the intro to the first three levels of the original DOOM in SnapMap, they have essentially every id game, and a few Bethesda games lined up. But crammed on the shelf near the original "DOOM ][" is another game "DOOM 2: Hell to Pay". I thought that maybe it was just another expansion I'd never heard of, but I looked it up and didn't find anything. Keep in mind that I have no fucking clue what I'm talking about, but this was just an interesting little thing I noticed.
So after a couple months I decided to boot up DOOM again for the SnapMap update, and I come back to see this. They finally did it.
Those have to be some damn fine conversions to get a reference in the game.
Perdgate is actually really good and was originally intended to be part of Final Doom, but the creator didn't finish it in time or some such. Hell to Pay is hot fucking garbage.
And I thought trying to balance out my ammo and resources was tough enough in the main campaign, Arcade Mode is even more intensive with how you have to efficiently maximize your score deliberately through numerous medals and score continuation. The logs themselves also note in what chapter/map they are found in if you haven't found them yet. That Lost Soul challenge in Titan's Realm is kinda tricky. You need to use one of the shotguns, as they knock Lost Soul's away with a good distance if you kill them then, instead of just falling down if killed with the Plasma Gun or the Heavy Assault Rifle (Which I prefer to use against them). You can also clear the challenge if you knock one of those Lost Souls into a barrel and the resulting explosion takes out another Lost Soul. Another warning though, is if the ''Dead Man Stalking'' Challenge on Kadingr Sanctum is bugged. It is possible that you somehow don't clear the challenge even after finding all of the Elite Guard corpses on your first run, and it will thus show as incomplete in the menu. From personal experience, if you clear the map while having 4 Predator Tokens, the game will count the challenge as cleared even if the level select menu says otherwise, and you will still get the achievement of having cleared every challenge if you did clear all the other challenges.

Only reason I thought it might be a sly hint was because of a similar thing they pulled during E3, with the new Wolf title hidden in with the older games.
I'm bad at this [t]http://i.imgur.com/cdjbdCc.png[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/HvCOmww.png[/t]
I wish more maps were like Foundry. With the double jump from later in the campaign, I accidentally did the entire map in complete reverse order from the norm because I grabbed the Blue Key before I even grabbed the Yellow.
Those have to be some damn fine conversions to get a reference in the game.
One of the devs on Hell to Pay and Perdition's Gate (which is also on the shelf) was Tom Mustaine, who heads up Snapmap developers Escalation Studios and I believe he also built at least one of the three retro remake Snapmaps. So it's just a cute little nod.
no thanks, dnf tried to mix dukes character with the world and it failed miserably
DNF tried a lot of shit and failed. Shit that's already been done well time and time again, too. Why is the handling of Duke's character off limits because of this?
I cut it out because it's conjecture. A disillusioned fish-out-of-water Duke in the modern social climate is something no one's really tried to pull off, and it's something the countless failures of DNF don't come close to legitimizing or un-legitimizing.
Why is the handling of Duke's character off limits because of this?
I dunno, why are people so pissed off about DmC: Devil May Cry or Metroid: Other M or Dead Rising 4 or any other game where they went "let's just throw out that old personality and bring in a totally different one that hardly resembles what the character is known for." Once a character's personality is set, it's not something you go fucking around with. If you want a
disillusioned fish-out-of-water Duke in the modern social climate
make a new character, don't fuck up the old one.
Wasn't the whole disillusioned Duke part of the script Yatzee wrote for DNF? It would have been better than what we got.

I like the idea, really. And it would sort of add up with duke being out of the loop. Start the next duke game off with him getting drunk off his ass after DNF not doing so well.
Some of you probably know about this but for those who don't... Edit Oh shit theres a face-punch thread im super late Ill keep it up just in case
