i think youre looking into a parody character deeper than you should
Probably.
But then sometimes I feel like George Broussard and Randy Pitchford forgot he's a parody character.
I feel like Duke waking up in a world ran by Alien-Influenced SJWs could work.
let's face it, it would probably be hell for the guy and he would be DOOMED:godzing:
no really somebody make a better joke retort because we already have doomed spess marine and nuked duke.
i deleted the big outside room i made a page or two ago and replaced it with a small hallway
:downs:
at least i did something
does anyone know how to use cached objects or integers/numbers to make music easier to control? i dont want to shove a logic beam through the entire map to connect it to a music prop
Is DN really the right place for social commentary?
you don't have to. I like the idea, really. And it would sort of add up with duke being out of the loop.
Start the next duke game off with him getting drunk off his ass after DNF not doing so well.
If they got someone who could actually write Duke humor well, that'd be fine because you wouldn't have to change his personality for that. His game being shit would kill his ego and it'd make sense for him to start off like that, but I don't want stuck-in-the-90s Duke all game trying to figure out the world.
I could see him sitting at a bar, aliens and shit invade, he's just sitting there melancholy and uncaring as people are getting blown the fuck up outside, but then a pigcop kicks out the headlight of his car outside and it's LA Meltdown all over again to kick off the new game.
I made a storage room inside my building

me and my friends keep trying to compete for score in arcade mode, it's gotten hard:

wow thats cool
DNF may suck, but it's far from dog shit. It's just really, really unspectacular; even then a few instances of its original creativity shine through.
If you want actual dog shit, take on Blood 2: The Chosen.

Even the parts with Bone Leeches, which is 75% of the game? What difficulty are you playing on?
So to test out Snapmap again, I recreated E1M1 myself via the classic assets. I forgot how much of a clusterfuck logic chains can be, and perhaps more annoyingly, direct and proper recreations of some areas are a bitch due to how the modules and blocking volumes work. But hey, whatever, I got most of it done. Yet for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get a no-respawn game over for when you die.

I don't remember the specifics but there's an "on death" condition and "finish game as loss" effect somewhere in there. It's just a two-part chain that doesn't have to be connected to anything.
oh my god that game was so boring the only thing i remember of it were the gasmasked cultists repeatedly groaning "you will die a slow slow death"

It's hard to believe these guys made FEAR.
Ok, so I got to TNT map31, now how does one complete it without yellow keycard, since I'm not in the mood to patch the damn wad and replay to that point.
Edit: Ok, it was pretty easy to get to the carribean without the keycard.

Fairly certain neither of those people know what a parody is

I went for one of the lower difficulties for a first time playthrough when i played it a while ago.

The game is too easy on Genocide/Easy, too hard on Homicide/Normal, and impossible on Suicide/Hard. I recommend you give it another go on Homicide to see why I get PTSD when I hear the Bone Leeches.
found a doom 2 commercial on youtube, sorry for potato recording.

people argue about whether or not Smash Bros should be at EVO, but here come the "most advanced fighting game ever" and nobody even mentions it
How do you enable classic monster sounds in SnapMap?
I could only find the classic player death.

Not sure if it's an option, but you could always have them activate one of the classic sounds when they're killed.
they do it in the example classic map, try checking there.
I dunno, why are people so pissed off about DmC: Devil May Cry or Metroid: Other M or Dead Rising 4 or any other game where they went "let's just throw out that old personality and bring in a totally different one that hardly resembles what the character is known for."

Mother fucker, the whole point of this pitch is that the world has changed but he DOESN'T. I don't see what you guys aren't understanding about this.
Hell, the way the "disillusioned fish-out-of-water" story goes down in my head, it's kicked off by people being appalled by the content of Duke's character despite his acts of heroism, and in the end he doesn't change at all and everyone around him lets him be. hell, people come to understand him and his antics leaves a lasting effect on people until there's a whole second wave of duke-ism that takes over the world.
Ash Vs The Evil Dead is doing this sort of dynamic very fucking well right now.

I swear ya'll are gonna make me post this at least twice every version of this thread :v:

I have decided to replay Unreal Gold the moment i've heard it's music, but this time I went with the Godlike difficulty just to see if I manage to beat the game. I've completed Quake 2 Ground Zero on Nightmare along with other mission packs for Quake 1 and 2. Can't be worse than that.
EDIT: I WAS WRONG! This is way worse than Quake 2 Ground Zero! The moment I've left the ship, got the weapons and went to the tunnel, I got gangbanged by 3 Brutes. It seems that difficulty not only makes the AI more agressive, but they aim well and some enemies, like Brutes, have increased explosion radius. "HOLY SHIT!" indeed, as the game described it. Not to mention, the Skaarj's energy balls are so damn powerful, it'll take 2-3 shots to kill you.
could we get a facepunch doom arcade group thing, I'd love to compete with other fpers for those fat high scores

Well I finally figured it out, comes from the End Game beginning a logic chain. I finished that up, and then looked back to the official E1M1 they released.
They did things with blocking boxes I didn't even know were possible, and composed the entire exit room and the room just before it of nothing but them. I didn't even know you could make those things diagonal, jesus christ. It makes my entire effort look like baby's first map (which I guess it is).

Also, so far I don't regret buying the DLC while it was on sale. The pistol is surprisingly awesome in multiplayer.
I could actually sympathize with Duke if everyone but a couple of good hearted dorks around him thought he's an absolute cretin, but ironically he'd end up to be the one to save the day again and everybody would had to shut up and apologize. That would seemingly unite yatzhees pitch and Broussards vision (well sort of, I don't act know what his vision was)
So basically the plot of Ash Vs Evil Dead but with Duke instead of Bruce Campbell.
I can get behind that.
Where's the second doom guy figure on the argent tower map, I need him for my slayer medal
Finally got DOOM on sale. When I get my 1080 and new ram I hope I'll be able to get a stable 60fps at 1440p.
The game looks so good.
