I'm doing the Argent Tower for secrets now.
Right at the very start, when you cross the bridge, you can go upwards and go through 2 tall tower things. My compass is beeping like crazy on the second one but I can't see anywhere a secret would be. I've gotten all the collectable items, my map shows nothing there, and it's the only secret I'm missing.
Where is it?
There's a catwalk which goes around the other building, you just turn to the left and head through other doorway right after entering. At the end of it you'll find armour.

I've already picked up that armor but it keeps going off. It also doesn't go off near the armor, it goes full strength beeping on a railing. it slows down near the armor.
Is it just broken or something?
Just finished on Hurt Me Plenty today, I might just go straight back in on Nightmare or Ultra-Nightmare. Holy shit this game is good. Somehow I managed to get about half way through before noticing the shared ammo pools... Maybe I was having too much fun.

Does anyone here know what PC settings would match the PS4 graphics quality? Since I got the PS4 version for pretty much nothing I've been thinking of double dipping and buying the PC version so I can use mouse and keyboard.

I played through the game on Ultra-Violence and had a blast. Decided to go straight to Ultra-Nightmare despite the game saying "Are you fucking sure man?" when selecting it.
I cannot complete the first level. The soldiers manage to surprise me from some blind angle with a single burst of their gun and that's it. :frown:
And the settings would seem to be medium-high with dynamic resolution to always keep it at 60fps. Though according to this video, it pretty much never scales down from 1080p:

Well that explains why there's a trophy for completing UAC on Ultra-Nightmare... Maybe I'll do Ultra-Violence instead.
nightmare alone is kicking my teeth in, cant imagine doing it in ironman mode.

There were some costs for the PS4 to run the game, but it's able to handle it more smoothly than the Xbox One, which has dynamic scaling to deal with the fact that it can't quite handle the game like the PS4 can. So arguably the PS4 version's the better port if you have both consoles for some reason, but you have to be playing up close to a huge screen or have some stellar vision to really care for the differences.
DOOM 4 perhaps has the best boss battles I have ever seen in a FPS.
Glad there's an option to turn off their health bar.
That really threw me off when I got to the Cyberdemon.

I was instantly reminded of how good the boss battles in the Borderlands games weren't.
im now at the lab in my nightmare playthough. the game has honestly gotten easier since i got the health and ammo upgrades. you still die in 4-5 hits but you have a lot more cushion to back off once you get the upgrades.

Yeah the first levels are probably the hardest on nightmare because of the lack of weaponry/upgrades and the high amount of possessed soldiers and soldiers with shields

Borderlands bosses are loot gates, that's it. I really only liked the loader bosses because they had specific patterns and weak points.

This really gets highlighted in the Classic Maps. Starting off with the dinky, unupgraded pistol against every single zombieman being a Possessed Soldier means they require two charge shots each, and they'll be more and happy to spam the orb bomb blasts at you in the meanwhile. The narrow corridors makes it hard to dodge swarms of projectiles, and because you can't double jump over a charging Pinky, this little niggle turns maps like the Phobos Lab into a fucking retarded map choice when the game will throw two or three of them at once in thin halls you can't really dodge in.
I've completed the fucking Slough of Despair but I can't beat Phobos Labs yet because of that fucking ambush past the yellow door where they just swarm you with possessed soldiers, imps and pinkies. It's really obvious how completely different in balancing Doom 4 is from Doom 1, and they didn't even bother to accommodate for this.
I think my favorite combat track remains this one

The little riff at the start keeps repeating until you actually destroy a gore nest, so it's fucking great at building up tension.
It also has some Doom 3 elements in it, so kudos to that.

Aww yeah. Right after saying I can't beat the first level I managed to beat the first and second level then Save & Quit'd out and I'm never touching that save again. :v:
Is there a way to get the ost?

the doom 3 theme is actually so good. i honestly think i prefer it to the metal in the new doom
[editline]21st May 2016[/editline]
maybe because it doesn't have any of that 'sort of dubstep sort of metal' vibe the new one has
Doom 3's OST wouldn't have worked with Doom 4, the game's way too fast paced for it.
Doom 4's OST can sound weird when separated from the experience but the dynamic music makes it work so damn well in-game.
doom 3 had music?
also quake 4
main theme was pretty cool, almost nothing during the actual game
Let's not forget Quake 2's OST, which is still one of my favorites.

I still really love this track from Quake 1's soundtrack:

Mainly because of how atmospheric it is and how much it sounds like some of John Carpenter's stuff.
Hey now, let's not forget some Mission Pack soundtracks as well. This one being my favourite:

Does the fire 2 times SSG upgrade keep the same damage per shot? Or is it just a regular shotgun round? It only uses 1 shell either way.
Goddammit, the Cyberdemon boss battle is intense.

Anyone else find it irritating that the campaign closes off certain map sections once you get through them? I'd like to backtrack for missed secrets but nope, suddenly there's a locked door in the way.

Even if you wanted to touch the save, you can't.
If you quit the game during an Ultra-Nightmare playthrough it deletes the save file, doesn't it?
Does the fire 2 times SSG upgrade keep the same damage per shot? Or is it just a regular shotgun round? I have like four more achievements for Doom but I had to restart the game. At least it's going faster now since I know where all the secrets are.
